Asia 21: Day 1

Asia 21

The first day of the Asia 21 convention was truly brilliant with over 250 delegates attending the conference from practically 50 countries ranging from anywhere from Australia to Vietnam; it was undoubtedly a mind blowing experience. This meeting probably creates a social network of entrepreneurs, businessmen and even philanthropists who come together to exchange ideas but more importantly create friends. A casual hello today can mean a ground breaking partnership somewhere in the future.

Today’s event we discussed a number of broad based issues which will confront the future leader of the Asia Pacific region. Kicking off the session was a 2 hour discussion on the values of a leader and later the entire congress was sp[lit into four break-away session to discuss Vibrant Societies, Healthy Societies, Inclusive Societies & Safe Societies. These break-out sessions allowed participants in each group to really touch the core issues and then later all thoughts were presented to the larger forum opening it for some intense discussions which turned into a session to share some people sharing their unique life changing experiences

The formal day ended with a brilliant Keynote Speech By Former President Kim Dae-jung a Nobel Prize Laureate 2000. Who could be considered as a testament to what a true leader should envision, compassion yet the hunger to strive for progress. The present day success of South Korea is easily attributed to the ground breaking efforts by the Honorable Mr. Kim Dae-Jung.

The evening ended with a fabulous dinner and a Korean dance performance by the Korea Foundation. On a side note I am scheduled to discuss the censorship of the Internet in Pakistan hoping to bring forth our struggle and attempt to find a solution if any on this vital issue that concerns our country directly. Hope I can do justice……

    Hey,

Im a 4th year med student and Im not sure if you or the ENT doctor would be able to answer this question. I am seeing an ENT doc next week but wanted to see what your thoughts were on this.

This is pretty gross, but here it goes:

Im 24 and about 6 months ago, randomly produced this white, spongy, extremely foul-smelling, tooth-sized “glob” from my throat. At first, I thought it was old food that somehow got stuck and forgot about it. Then it happened again a few weeks later and now its been happening every few weeks. I now get this funny sensation in the back of my throat (the best description I can give is like popcorn kernel stuck to the back of my throat) and I cannot see it, just feel it. I try to cough or bring it up with the back of my tongue (like you’re about to vomit or bring up phlegm), but it usually stays there. Then a few days later, it comes up on its own.

Its disturbing and to say the least, not very attractive to my friends when I told them about it.

PS. I do NOT have dysphagia, coughing, tonsillitis (although I get colds often and had horrible tonsillitis as a child). I don’t regurgitate food I just ate.

So there…and yes, I am seeing an ENT next week…so we’ll see what happens.

    any thoughts? comments?

Comment Policy: Moderating comments is a very difficult thing to enforce and we do not like to stop anyone's opinion no matter how bizarre it might be. The general trend of this blog has been that we never censor comments based on political or ideological point of view. But to bring a little sanity in the debate we strongly frown upon comments that are abusive, off-topic, use foul language, resort to racial attacks, use caps-locks, habitual flamers are shown the door especially those commenters who resort to ad hominem attacks are definitely deleted when caught. Simply said, if you can carry a civilized discussion then the floor is open to your hearts desire. But, we still reserve the right to delete any comment that we deem inappropriate without reason
