Govt Bans Kamran Khan’s GEO.tv Show
Today at 11:05pm the regularly scheduled show titled “Aaj Kamran Khan Key Sath which is hosted by the outspoken Kamran Khan was stopped from airing, people witnessing the live feed noticed a sudden block lasting for ten minutes after which the show was replaced by some other programming for the allotted time.
There is no doubt that this blatant censorship is quite contrary to the open attitude as being portrayed by the Emperor Pervaiz Musharraf. Geo.tv reports
KARACHI: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has imposed ban on “Aaj Kamran Khan Key Sath, the famous programme of Geo Television Network. “Aaj Kamran Khan Key Sath has been stopped as the government has imposed ban on it, said the spokesman of the Geo Television Network. It was regretted at 11:05 PM, when this programme starts daily, that the programme could not be aired due to government ban. Reacting to the ban on this programme, Kamran Khan, the host of the programme, condemned the government action and said that there was no other agenda of the said programme except making people aware of real facts and correct analysis. This is in line with the gag order that also has been placed on all media outlets restricting all talk shows and discussions to not steer away from the drafted press release as released by the Ministry of Information.
