Drones parked in our own backyard, to Bomb our own People

drones-parked-in-pakistan

In a shocking discovery reports have emerged from simply Google Earth images evidence of three drones parked on an airfield in some remote destination within Baluchistan, the images were captured by orbiting satellites and archived within Google Earth data warehouse to suddenly be discovered recently. Though there is no denying that during the Musharraf regime bases were rented out to the American army costing them a massive deficit to the tune of $10 Billion. But what probably irks the nation is that the Pakistani government have categorically denied that the Pakistani bases are being used to launch drones-

Omar Qureshi who writes for The News broke this discovery locally in Pakistan

The picture of the drones on the Pakistani soil, taken in 2006, has three drones, all Global Hawks. The picture has coordinates and they can be vaguely read as 27 degrees, 51 minutes North; 65 degrees, 10 minutes East. These coordinates place the strip not far from the nearby Jacobabad airbase which is around 28 degrees north, 68 degrees east.

One can easily verify the authenticity of the picture taken in 2006 with the 2009 image found online on Google Maps by merely inserting the above coordinates [or follow this LINK] in satellite mode

The Times Online also carried the report

The CIA is secretly using an airbase in southern Pakistan to launch the Predator drones that observe and attack al-Qaeda and Taleban militants on the Pakistani side of the border with Afghanistan, a Times investigation has found. The Pakistani and US governments have repeatedly denied that Washington is running military operations, covert or otherwise, on Pakistani territory — a hugely sensitive issue in the predominantly Muslim country.

The Pakistani Government has also repeatedly demanded that the US halt drone attacks on northern tribal areas that it says have caused hundreds of civilian casualties and fuelled anti-American sentiment. But The Times has discovered that the CIA has been using the Shamsi airfield — originally built by Arab sheikhs for falconry expeditions in the southwestern province of Baluchistan — for at least a year. The strip, which is about 30 miles from the Afghan border, allows US forces to launch a Drone within minutes of receiving actionable intelligence as well as allowing them to attack targets further afield

But it all started a few days earlier when Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee commented on 13th of February that unmanned CIA Predator aircraft operating in Pakistan are flown from an air base in Pakistan. The disclosure also marked the first time a U.S. official had publicly commented on where the Predator aircraft patrolling Pakistan take off and land.

The CIA declined to comment, but former U.S. intelligence officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information, confirmed that Feinstein’s account was accurate.

While Bruce Hoffman, a terrorism expert at Georgetown University, said Feinstein’s comments put Pakistan’s government on the spot.

If accurate, what this says is that Pakistani involvement, or at least acquiescence, has been much more extensive than has previously been known,” he said. “It puts the Pakistani government in a far more difficult position [in terms of] its credibility with its own people. Unfortunately it also has the potential to threaten Pakistani-American relations.

Chowrangi very rightly sums up the dilemma facing the people of Pakistan

But now the cat is out of the bag. So that is once more proved that how much regard American and our own government has for the people who reside in Pakistan. Their lives are of no value and our own government is involved in the killings. What a shame and what a sorry state of affairs. Another lie of our president has been caught and nobody knows how many more are on the way

For now the Government of Pakistan has a lot of explaining to do and just mere diversion tactics towards Musharraf might alone not help their case.

my point was not the percentage.ein stien

my point was the way how world looked in the victory of hamas.

while the whole world is observing as a sweeping victory pakistani fascist secular fascists were fighting with the reality in a dark smelly room and in the state of denial they construed that, "hey guys!this is not a sweeping victory hamas just gain only 42%.

english is not my language will or would i don't care.

Interesting to see the discussion here. I'll add some american perspective (which may be clearly unwelcome by some here):

    1. If 9/11 were a one-off in tactics or intent there might be a better shot of it being an "inside job." However, as everyone knows, 9/11 fit a pattern. Whether the work of Hamas, Al Qaeda, the Taliban or the latest group that attacked Mumbai, suicide terror attacks (including hijackings) designed for maximum media exposure have been embraced by Islamist terrorists for decades now. While it's obviously been tempting for some (American or not) who see the US at its omnipotent and imperialistic worst to have staged its own death cult murdering spree, it is far more likely that the 9/11 attacks (along with London, Spain, USS Cole, etc.) were in fact the work of those who do this sort of thing on a fairly regular basis. I don't expect to change anyone's opinions here but I do find it curious that those who believe the US Govt orchestrated 9/11 also happen to really hate the US Govt and also somehow believe it to be all-powerful – a concept which anyone who has ever dealt with the US govt can only find truly hilarious.

    2. Trust me: the US would really rather not have any military operations in Afghanistan or Pakistan – we have far better things to spend our money on these days than fighting a bunch of narcotic smuggling religious zealots in their tribal homeland (to say nothing of the loss of our soldiers). Unfortunately Afghanistan remains a largely failed state and Pakistan's major accomplishments in the last 10 or so years appear to be sending terrorists to its neighbors and nuclear designs to anyone with a Swiss bank account. We would vastly prefer that Afghanistan find a way to put down its guns and that Pakistan get its act together and become (no offense) more like India – we'd happily send you our customer service jobs instead of drones and F16s.

    3. You might notice that our current president (elected by the largest majority in a national election in years) voted against the war in Iraq and campaigned on a promise of bringing the troops home from there. Is this really an imperialistic society? Hell no.

    4. Finally, a little about me: I am white and Christian and from what you would probably call the "establishment" (a prominent US Senator actually attended my wedding). But I live in one of the most diverse areas in the world: East Harlem, NY. In my apartment building are Muslims, Hindus, African-Americans, Asians, Jews, Europeans, Latinos – if you read the list of residents in the mailroom it reads like the UN roll call. Furthermore I work in technology and have traveled all over the world, having had teams of people in Tokyo, Bangaluru, Krakow, and Tel Aviv all working for me at one time or another. I'm telling you all this because I believe in the ability for people of different religions and ethnicities to live together and work together peacefully. And more than anything that is what I believe America is all about and more than anything that is what I wish was common in every region of the world. I hope that we get there and that you are all apart of it.

    Peace –

Both these links do not deny what AI has stated about Hamas, i.e. they continue to conduct a campaign of torture and murder against their PALESTINIAN opponents. Nowhere has AI "equated" the two. Every time anyone even mentions that Hamas are not washed in milk and descended from heaven, people think they're being "equated" with the warcrimes of the IDF.

If I worked for AI, I'd be pretty insulted given that authors like these and people like you don't exactly bother to read fully the content of the reports.

Is it really THAT hard to accept that Hamas can be murderers of their own people too? How would that acceptance exonerate the Israelis for their warcrimes?

    Okay…its obvious YOU don't get the point…

    Hamas is terrorist

    Hizbollah is terrorist

Hell….any body that opposes Israel/US/UK/EU mafia is terrorist…we should look to the heavens and pray that the Americans invade us as soon as possible so that we could be free, we should open our ports, borders and airports for any body who needs to find, bomb or drone any terrorists that they declare are hiding among us. Palestinians should accept whatever dictates that Israel and US impose on them, they should accept that God without informing them had promised their land to other people and therefore they should stop this resistance, act like nice well behaved occupied people, should not take any actions that would be deemed acting against agents of occupiers, because they are God's chosen people, as a matter fact Dany, Yes absolutely, in Iraq, Iran, all over central and South America, people should just stop resisting in order to avoid being labelled terrorists and become well behaved occupied and persecuted….

problem is Dany, people who scream terrorists at the top of their lungs each time the other side as much as shoots a bullet in retaliation of their murderous assults, they started their campaign this way

If we are to talk about just 'killing' without context….

Algerians killed collaborators when they were fighting for independence…

so did Cubans, South Africans, Zambians, Kenyans, Indonesians, Mexicans, Americans, Canadians, Irish, Bosnians and probably any country that has had to fight some kind of outside interference…

Dany Boy, as a matter of fact the Allied Forces just at the end of WWII carried our one of the most brutal genocidal completely unnecessary assault on Dresden Germany, the whole city and surrounding was wiped out. As recently as 1991 GW the father carried out the modern day version of the same on retreating Iraqi forces on 'Highway of Death' and Dostam's forces with the help of Americans did the same with Taliban forces who surrendered in 2001.

So, if all your brilliantly argumentative brain wanted to achieve here was for us to admit that Hamas kills, and some times its own people 'outside a context', all of this was unnecessary, sure they do, who wouldn't in their circumstances!

And don't get offended by what the good doctor has to say, like him, I don't understand how you don't get it, that what an entity like Hamas does to defend itself, its movement or its territory can not be equated with what an occupying force does…and honestly you don't sound like an idiot, so I wonder!

  16. Danial Burki Avatar
    Danial Burki

The many instances you’ve quoted each deserve a discussion on their own; and yes, this discussion was about establishing that Hamas are not washed in heavenly light, and dehumanise and murder Palestinians too. You people were treating Hamas as such, and it was necessary to bring this to light. Now that you have accepted this, I have done my part in the discussion. The Palestinian people and history will judge whether Hamas only tortured and killed ‘collaborators’ or other political opponents as well. Quite frankly, if there was peace, Hamas would pretty much lose its reason to exist.

I'm an American contractor in Afghanistan and we have a workshop where we are able to fabricate low-cost photographic-only (so far) drones in our spare time.

My question is: if we are successful in landing at this "falconing" airport, is there anyone who will interfere with our aircraft if we simply want to do "touch-and-goes" on an isolated section?

We would like to inobtrusively photograph the tribal regions and would not cause anyone any trouble, and would probably not even be noticed with our gen III nighttime capabilites.

    Thanks,

You may be correct in assuming that 9/11 was part of some 'process of attack' on America. The time-line has been well-defined, all the way back to the Ayetolleh and his hostages. But have you ever stopped for a minute to consider why some of the most backward people on earth would want to bring down upon themselves the mechanized retribution what, so far, only America has directed at such folk? "Hating us for our freedom" seems to be a really stupid reason to fight the 'advance of progress'. Bottom line is that such 'terror attacks' are nothing new and are not exclusive to Islamic militants.

After the Great War Americans took comfort and pride in the fact that they could isolate themselves from the 'troubles' of the rest of the world. But even that isolation was punctuated by the necessity to 'defend America's interests' (usually business interests) with military force. "The shores of Triploli' wasn't added to the Marine Hymn to make a rhyme, they were in what is now Libya, in 1801, less than 20 years after the Revolution, to 'fight their country's battles' – over a trade dispute IN AFRICA. Since then they've been involved in Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Nicaragua, Haiti, the Dominican Republic,Honduras, El Salvador, Grenada, China, VietNam and a plethora of other places 'exercising democracy' at the point of a bayonet. Having an army and not using it is a lesson so that has, so far, only been lost on the Chinese.

That somehow the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq and a war on terror being fought from Africa to the Philippines with a few stops in between, has been 'forced on' America is certainly not borne out by any consideration of alternatives to war. Pakistan and, more pointedly, Yemen and Saudi Arabia, had more to do with 9/11 than the Taleban or Saddam Hussein, but they're 'allies' and the others weren't. America may not 'want' to be doing these things, Like Hitler 'wanted' the Jews in Madagascar, not up the chimney at Auschwitz and Treblinka. Had they been the cakewalks intended, this discussion wouldn't be taking place. They're not, they're a pair of bleeding ulcers leaching the 'good life' out of our grandchildren.

AQ (and others simliar) did not spring from the forehead of Allah. It arose from a genuine grievance, the result of basing American troops in Saudi Arabia to 'protect' strategic resources. Oil is the strategic resource America uses more than any other country on earth. That's nothing new. In its heyday America used 75 percent of all resources produced in the world. That may be changing as American industry has increasingly moved off-shore to places with lower capital costs. But that only means that 'protecting' those US interests is now a world-wide endeavour.

Until the emergence of some radically new form of energy generation, the competition for oil, and eventually (even more importantly) clean water, is going to grow.

One of the first benefits of freedom, along with modern weapons, introduced into Afghanistan were satellite communications and the portable electric generator. The TV followed shortly and for the first time in history people in the backwaters of Afghanistan had an 'eye on the world'. What did they see on the satellite channels? Sitcoms, advertising and porn, the pap that makes America 'great'. No wonder the notion of developing a 'western culture' is offensive, even more so if some 'nice guy' American is telling them it's 'better'.

America has been attacked by goatherds who have called down upon their heads destruction that could only be paralleled in past world wars. To do this they have to be crazy, or they have to have sense of purpose that so far seems to be lacking in the American response. That, IMO, is borne out in the evident 'failure to win'. For even the most bug dirt of the crazy shouldn't be able to stand a B1 strike (or 10), even that 'lunaatic' they're bombing now in Libya.

In my experince I find that most people want to be left alone to live their lives in peace. Left alone they tend to be peaceable. But there are some who insist on taking what others have. That happens every day, in any society. On an individual basis call it crime. When it affects nations call it war. Theft, rather than love of money, is the root of all evil.
