Predictions are that if Pakistan were to continue at the prevalent unemployment, endemic poverty, and flailing schools it is quite simply impossible to combat when every year adds more and more people. Suggesting that low birthrates aren’t a consequence of national wealth; rather, they’re needed to create it.

The estimates are that by the middle of this century Pakistan would have catapulted from 170 million to over 550 million people by 2060. I just wonder if merely solving the birthrate problem will this alone alleviate the ills of our country, but on the other hand its without doubt that the exponential rise in our population will definitely place undue strain on an already frail economy which sadly has no prospects of getting any better. With this in mind maybe my criticism of those TOUCH condom ads that were abundantly aired during the Twenty20 World Cup might be truly be unwarranted

Pakistan’s future woes may not be linked to the population growth but they certainly relate to the corrupt Govt of PPP.
The pimps and their whores cry day and night about the rit of the govt but what does the govt really do to provide peace and justice to the citizens.

NO!!!! its about degradation of mankind downto the level of animals.
could you please stop talking about Nabi e Kareem(saww) and ummul momineen hazrat aeysha(ra). because every time you say some thing about them it sounds like a blasphemy.there is a lot of decent ways to talk about this issue and put your objections.
contraception could be good if there is a medical reson. islam allows in those situations.once Nabi kareem(saww) allow one companion to adopt the old contraception method.
however muslims are instigated for having larger families.
in islam only the Allah(swt) is nourisher and He clearly said in Quran e kareem:
“Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited you from: Join not anything in worship with Him; be good and dutiful to your PARENTS; do not kill your children because of poverty – (Allah) provide sustenance for you and for them; do not come near to Al-Fawahish (shameful sins, illegal sexual intercourse, etc.) whether committed openly or secretly, and kill not anyone whom Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause. This He has commanded you that you may understand.”

“OVERPOPULATION”
Population of USA in 1909 was 90,490,000 in recent years it became 306560000 (almost 3 times increase)
Population of UK: in 1911 was 33,651,600. in 2009 has been increased upto 60943912
(almost double)
Population of france in 1911 was 41415000. in 2009 it is increased to 62448977.
My question is why these countries aren’t suffering from food shortage.on contrary there is wastage of food in these countries.
They are better now or the better 100 yeaars ago when there population was far more less.
Why England is not suffering from food shortage like 19th and 18th centuries?
Because you have parameters to foresee the population after 50years but you have no means to know the economic expansion in the future, the progress of human knowledge, the progress of science and technology and its applications in the field of production.
In Pakistan the other things made us to reach at this point. Can you give us the guaranty that we will be better in 2059 with the same population which we have right now.with the persistence of the current circustances?

@Dr Jawwad Khan: the 12-year-old daughter bit is a gross exaggeration (though I’m sure there are cases of underage sex, which is very unsafe). But how can you call 12 year olds having sex “moral degradation” when your own prophet married (and consummated marriage with) a girl much younger than that, and when top clerics have NO problem with people marrying 6 year old girls? Height of hypocrisy, and nice way of sidetracking the actual issue.
Answer these questions and engage in a mature discussion: do you think contraception is good or not? Do you think this country has a population problem or not?
What I love about the responses above is how nobody from the fundo/religious right camp has actually addressed the issue of overpopulation!

You sound so right, and thats the reason un-wanted babies like Danial Burki are born and then they make a mess in the society, because their parents didn’t want them in the first place and then didn’t pay attention to these babies when they were kind-of-growing. I didn’t want to use the term *growing*, but for the lack of a better word :|
