and I wish to pay the tribute of highest order to the people of Karachi, their sense of defiance, unity and humanity prevailed in the face of adversity.Terrorists could burn the bodies and robbed the shops but they could not touch the human hearts of Karachilites which are filled with peace and unity.

    Long Live Pakistan

I spoke to many friends in Karachi on the day it happened .It was not the fear of what is happening the fear was what will be the reaction……..what will be the aftermath ?….what awaits them?……and that reaction was contained…the reaction was of defiance and resilliance …

I wish that this fragile peace to remain, common sense prevail…….

    great work….

but this movement will remain unfruitful till it becomes a "explainations demanding pressure group"…

current caos requires more people to come out and demand an explanation.Other wise it will get only ovations nothing more.

Imran mediating between Haqiqi factions Friday, May 09, 2008

      By M Waqar Bhatti http://www.thenews.com.pk/top_story_detail.asp?Id

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has been trying for the last few months to broker a deal between the two factions of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-Haqiqi) that split during the previous government’s tenure, The News has reliably learnt.

Emerging as a staunch opponent of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) after the May 12, 2007 mayhem in which several political workers were killed in Karachi, Imran Khan subsequently launched a campaign against the Muttahida. His anti-Muttahida drive started with the help of the MQM-Haqiqi which provided him with evidence of alleged brutalities against it.

Officials of the PTI and both groups of the MQM-Haqiqi confirmed that they have had meetings with Imran Khan on April 17 in Islamabad separately, during which Imran tried to convince them to resolve their mutual differences and work as a single party against the Muttahida in Karachi. Although both the Haqiqi factions and the PTI termed these recent liaisons ‘routine meetings’ — and part of Imran Khan’s case against Muttahida’s London-based Quaid Altaf Hussain — insiders claimed that the PTI chief wanted the Haqiqi leaders to get reunited and face the Muttahida in Karachi as a single force.

Efforts to end Aamir-Afaq rivalry fail By Mazhar Tufail Sunday, April 20, 2008

      http://thenews.jang.com.pk/top_story_detail.asp?I

ISLAMABAD: Efforts for a truce between two senior leaders of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-Haqiqi) – Aamir Khan and Afaq Ahmed — failed to materialise, ‘The News’ learnt here on Saturday. Younas Khan, a former member of the Sindh Assembly belonging to the MQM-Haqiqi who is currently settled in Islamabad, confirmed to The News that some important quarters made frantic efforts for settlement between Aamir and Afaq but they failed.

He said efforts were also made on many occasions in the past to bring the two senior MQM-Haqiqi leaders to terms. “Currently, hundreds of our workers are living in different parts of the country like refugees and they are waiting for a congenial atmosphere in Karachi to return to their homes,” he said. The News also learnt that the top leadership of the MQM-Haqiqi approached Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmed but no formal meeting could be held because the Jamaat chief was away from Islamabad. When contacted by The News, Jamaat Central Secretary Information Ameer-ul-Azeem confirmed that some leaders of the MQM-Haqiqi wished to meet Qazi Hussain Ahmed and this contact was part of efforts for a rapprochement between the top Haqiqi leaders.

The unity amongst the citizens of Karachi is laudable and this sends a strong message to the forces of evil that we as nation will not be deterred by such cowardly acts of violence and these atrocities will bring us closer to defend our homeland
