I have wanted to receive Yahoo and MSN alert on my cell phone (ufone) for sometime. Going through the MSN / Yahoo Alert sign-up screens I am allowed to enter an email address of my messaging device and I enter is properly in the format as 0333*******@ufone.com following this I am supposed to receive an confirmation code, but I do not get any. Just now I talked to a Ufone representative and he was also confused and said you need a paid server to provide this service, on my query on if Ufone provides such a service, he said no. I am now open to any nifty solution to this problem. Cell phone users in Pakistan do you have a solution for this dilemma of mine.

There maybe other solutions, but one is to use GPRS to connect to mobile.msn.com/
dude .. teh thingi works ..
but not form msn or yahoo .. they haev a restriction from those addresses may be cuz of this alerts thingi … as it voilates their policy
however it does work with gmail .. send email from gmail and you can receive it on ur cell as a sms message .. put it on forwardin and it works too 🙂
TDH – heck tried a few options –
Setup a brand new GMAIL account and had it setup with forwarding any email I sent from my Cyber account would land on my cell but messages from Yahoo alerts would not go through.
Then I also setup a simple forwarding account on my domain to my cell no luck to the yahoo alerts (emails come rightway BUT NOT any alerts. What have you got setup
1. on msn alerts give the GMail address in teh place where it asks for your cellphones email address. register the whole address with alerts properly.
2. put a forwarding on GMail account that forwards to 0333xxxxx@ufone.com
also .. i heard maybelink gives a gmail access to its users on post paid
TDH – I tried that – infact i created a new GMAIL account for the purpose of alerts – signed up with MSN and had it send alerts to the gmail account – then on gmail I set up the forwarding address to my UFONE address no LUCK
Updates I get on the gmail acount it sends the forwarding emial BUT ufone somehow refuses to accept forwarding email – from that same account if i send a direct email to UFONE it goes thru BUT not forwarded alert or any forwarded email for that matter –
do u have it setup? PS I even tried to setup the entire issue on my own mail servers to no luck 😉 seems either some glitch someplace or ufone is actively blocking alerts
The email sent form Gmail will only be recieved on ur cell fone if ur ufone no. is registered on ufone web. To do this follow the link http://ufone.mags.net.pk/myfone/signup/
Then complete the steps and after that u will be able to get msgs from ur gmail account. i tried this only with gmail but u can check it with yahoo and hotmail.
There is a problem now days with my Gmail. it stucks after signing in and does not show my inbox. can any one help me to solve this problem????????
THE PERFECT SOLUTION OF YOUR PROBLEM IS HERE !!!!
There are two options for you.
1) Use GPRS:
you can use GPRS to sign in to MSN or Yahoo Messengers.
For Yahoo: Activate GPRS, Go to http://wap.oa.yahoo.com
here you can sign in to messenger and also send receive email through your mobile phone.
For MSN: MSN is not directly supported on Ufone GPRS. You can only sign in to MSN Messenger through a 3rd Party i.e. E-Messenger. Activate GPRS and Got to http://wap.e-messenger.net . here you can login to MSN Messenger only. Not Hotmail.. But, if you have TELENOR connection, you can also Sign in to Hotmail directly from http://mobile.msn.com
2) Second Option is Ufone mail:
Second option you have is call Ufone and ask them to activate your email that will be 0333*******@ufone.com. Remember, 30 rupees will be deducted from your balance every month for this service. Now go to http://www.msn.com from your computer and register your ufone email there. You will be able to receive msn utilities on your mobile. This service may not be available for Yahoo.
