An Aalim-like Encounter

Fingers Crossed

People ask me, why are you so dead set against Aamir Liaquat Hussain who commonly referred to as Aalim Online by his stage name. Reasons are innumerable, starting off with his set of fake degrees, his outlandish dress code, his fake humble attitude and the biggest reason of my animosity against him is that he belongs to a party that has destroyed Karachi from within and its leader lives in a luxurious mansion in London after ripping us all dry and he as a parting gift leaves behind a reckless bunch of cronies who contiune to be a menace to us. Dr. Aalim ul Momenen belongs to a corrupt group of people who have overtime not yet produced a decent leader, why should this character be any different.

I narrate a story of last night when I casually met Dr. Jahil. While on a casual late night drive around the city of Karachi, I invariably land @ Motaa’s (for those not living in Karachi this is one of the posh late night hangouts where you invariably meet the rich and famous of Karachi busy either eating pan or induldged in ‘supporting terrorism – [ Counterfeit DVDs and cigarettes may be funding terrorists – Homeland Security ]’ by buying pirated DVD’s) After my usual stroll grabbing a pan and a couple of DVD’s I sit in my car (which sadly does not happen to be a Porsche) all of a sudden catch a glimpse of His reverand Dr. Aalim ul Momeneen entering a DVD store along with the a few family members.

On an immediate impulse I got off grabbed my camera phone just in case I had the opportunity to pose with the Great Aalim. Casually I too walked into the store pretending to be interested in buying a DVD while I had my eyes were reveted on the Great Leader. He was accompanied by two ladies head to toe clad in identical briliant orange shalwar kameez with a duppatta drapped over their head like sindhi style, and about 150 orange and red bangles in each arm extending from the wrist to the elbow personally quite a lot a bangles for a late night 12:30 stroll or maybe it was after returning from a wedding, he was also accompanied by two small kids, I logically reasoned that one lady was his wife and the other three acompanying people his kids.

The Aalim in not too humble of a voice (strange I always picturised him as the deep-humble-voice-type of person – oopps but thats stage play) was busy asking for an Indian DVD movie selection and picked up the Amitab Bachan thriller ‘Black’ (OMG!) and later also ended up purchasing another one which I curse myself to have missed, his shopping spree also also included a cassette (all the purchases took place on the other side where only the Indian DVD selection was in display I am sure it was not any of his Islamic series or anything even close to Islamic as the Islamic section was on my side of the counter and I had the area well cordoned off) In the process one of the small kids got a scolding – atleast the family is normal.

Dressed in a grey blazer with absoulutely no make-up he settled the bill (I think he did, as I did not actually see him do it – but benefit of doubt goes to him) walked out to his Black Toyota which was being actively pursued by two police vans (probably to protect him against people like me)

I personally extract no major issue out of the brief family visit to the shops of Karachi, which every family has the right to enjoy, but with the same logic I, like may others, again feel betrayed that this so called religious scholar practicing a so called ‘enlightend moderate Islam’ has the nerve to preach us a religion while he holds a bunch of fake degrees and sits on TV challenging the beliefs of other far more educated religions scholars, and then later go behind our back go to watch Indian DVD’s etc. Deny all you want but I read it as F-A-K-E.

I almost wished I had walked up to him and asked “Assalam Alaikum would it be possible for you to give me Trinity College’s phone number as I desperatly want to earn a quick-fire Phd and also make it big on the silver-screen in the process” his reply would be ………
(I deliberately leave the answer unfilled as I would be amused to see what question would YOU have asked and what response do you think you would get in return, lets have some fun at his expense)

what a missed chance… you should have gone for it!

And isn’t this the same fellow who wanted to censor Indian movies at one time?

I think that buying Indian DVDS is no big deal the kind of Islam he preaches doesnt stop people from watching indian movies.

KO: I think indian movies should be legalized in Pakistan and if it ever happens they will have to go through the Censor board of Pakistan. Which is infact a good way to make an impact on Indian media by using the Market power. I think it will bring the two countries closer.

Nice piece of reporting 🙂 I have some other stories of him, but since they’ve all been heard thru a third party and i wasn’t a witness to any of them, i don’t want to be the one spreading them.
btw, didn’t knew Mottas is the posh late night hangout for us karachittes 🙂 but always thought it was the bunch of guys like me going there for the awesome paan they have there

@Zag – Mottas I would have to conceed is not the Posh hangout but more catered to people like us “Paindo” loaffers who love the pan and a short stroll to the DVD center. . Hope to bump into you sometime and share a pan outing 😉

@Khushal – you took the words about the party right out of my mouth, my sentimetns exactly word for word, gald you enjoy it here and I feel honoured that you drop by here.

@Danial – I like your comment “The kind of Islam he preaches” yep I also had my doubts on the kind Islam he preaches 😉

@KO and Shobz – to date I too curse myself at not having the gutts to ask that million dollar question, but I feel these people are shameless, If by accident I were to loose my credibility in society I would be ashamed to be seen in public and would even have the courage to walk away even from a measly TV show, but seems that these poeple have no morals in life, they continue to live normally and do as they wish. Its really sad

ayee…Dr. Fake has a right to watch Indian movies. Aakhir uss ka bhee dil hay. Hahaha *cursing him on the other side* Zaleel aadmi.
I am not like that, but when it comes to such people, I just can’t stop myself from saying this.
From now on, am planning to go daily to Mottas (with my very sharp, pencil-heeled sandals)….Just imagine that fun… wah!
He’s the biggest Fitnah, I have ever seen.
If I ever meet him, I’d say, “Oh, jaahil online…which new indian movie would you suggest me?” And ” These days, I am not getting admission in any of the universities. Please can you help me get in the Trinity College. It’s well known, and you are also famous (notorious among us only 😉 ). Please help me, Zaleel aadmi”

For some people we say, “Usay to jitni dua’ain dain, kam hay.” And for him, I must say, “Isay to jitni gaalian dain, wo kam hay”.

I must go before my tongue slips.

    Cheerio =)

What a post, I really liked the way you have this guy named Aamir Liaquat so called Dr. He is such a basharam that after being exposed of his fake degrees he still writes theDR. before his name ……

  11. Teeth Maestro Avatar

@Farrukh – after all the Ho Ha in the press he came through one day claiming that he has an MBBS degree from Jamshoro, but while filing his election papers he “forgot to submit” the copy of his degree or make a note in the records.

But after SA Tribune and other newspapers pounced on his issue he showed a copy of his MBBS degree from Jamshoro in 1995 stangely it occured only after the press went after him, why a sudden urge to prove himself a doctor.

He might afterall be a medical doctor but not a doctor in Islamic Studoes that he sits on the podium to challenge our far well knowledgeable and educated scholars, challenging their beliefs and imposing his own preachings for people to follow, sadly thats the irony of the entire scam that people have had blind faith in his preachings be it right or wrong only we all will find out above.

  12. Farrukh Avatar

its all abt his style. Do you know the thing occured to me that my lil cousin was into fold of his preachings and all was ridiculous. I myslef am a certificied person in Quranic translation and background studies and I know what he speaks

    who needs to know?

you all are stupid debating over something that doesnot even matter that much….who cares if he does or doesn’t have a degree…..he is doing a programme on TV with well known scholars and pakistani ulama’s…..you just hate him because he belongs to a Political Party…which is his personal business….no one has any right to commant about his political choices…what are you living in 18th century?? shame on you fools objecting people and not doing your own research on islam and hadeth to cross check him…may Allah give you hedaya and have mercy on your souls….
