…. the 60th Independence Day of Pakistan is about to end, and I, like a number of Pakistanis sadly are not exactly ‘hip’ with joy celebrating this all important event. In 60 years we were supposed to be progressing with leaps and bounds, we were supposed to be competing shoulder to shoulder in the world economic boom for our business, but instead we are struggling for our existence. What happened? Where did we go wrong?
In 2005 I seemed to be quite upbeat with the patriotic emotions but also expressed my concerns at the confusing political situation by writing A Tribute to Pakistan
14th August 2005 is another important date for Pakistan, it is the 58th Independence day of our beloved nation. A date important enough to deserve a public holiday with celebrations around the country people roaming the streets in jubilation, motorcycles, cars, buildings and houses all glittering proudly with the national colors. Each and every soul chanting – Pakistan Zindabad. My heart feels the love and so does yours.
I feel saddened that these few romantic days will not be recalled until next August 06 and where then again we would have seen another year of political uncertainty to have unfolded before us. Many a politicians would have come and gone, gone of course with a heavy bank balance and those newly into the arena sharping there knives in preparation for the sweat-meat for their accounts in Switzerland.
I ask all of you today on the 14th of August, I am proud to be a Pakistani, I am proud to have been born in Pakistan and I am ready to bleed for Pakistan, Are YOU?
Pakistan Zindabad !!!!!!
Then again in 2006 I again seemed yet again patriotic to express my heart filled solidarity with the nation but an apparent American threat looming over our soil kept me at bay and I penned the post For the Love of Pakistan
This is a commemorative post made on 14th August 2006 to mark the 59th Independence Day of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. I am born and bred Pakistani and I assure you I am emotionally patriotic enough to even die for this country of mine. This 14th August to me is a proud moment to see my country achieve 59 years of freedom, though a bit turbulent but it remains a proud & independent nation.
Looking at the present global situation I feel the future for Pakistan is going to be tough as I dread to see it come against some serious pressure and may even have to buckle with the demands that may be forced onto it by the financial bullies of the world (read US)
Enough of my rant – I would like to wish A very Happy Independence Day to every Pakistani on the face of the earth, may Pakistan continue to hold its head up high forever more
Its apparent that in both previous occasions the nation may have been upbeat in its celebration of the respective Independence Day of Pakistan, granted I had a few issues, but all seemed to be headed in the general direction with naturally a few bumps along the road. But surprisingly this year the political leaders have seemingly disheartened every patriotic citizen of Pakistan, issues like the CJ crisis, the astonishing 5/12 Massacre and the Lal Masjid disaster all seemed to be the orchestration of our political bureaucracy so as to preserve the existence of one person has his illegal, unelected regime in Pakistan.
This totalitarian attitude adopted by Musharraf has actually lead my country down a very difficult path, there is no talk on how to improve Pakistan, but instead discussions are being held to appoint yet another corrupt leader to sit on top of the Pakistan treasure box and mint money for personal gains for a third tenure around.
Sadly no one cares what will happen to the country, as long as he/she can walk away with the loot. Is this what our forefathers envisioned? Is this the country which saw the sacrifice of millions of Muslims when they chose to migrate to so so called ‘Land of the Pure’?
All day today I tried to sit down and attempt to write a positive post but I simply could not bring myself to pen words when I saw a bleeding nation through being raped by our ruthless leaders right in front of the entire nation. But I actually thought to myself, Pakistan belongs to me and to every Citizen of Pakistan, it is time that we as true Pakistanis stand up and take this nation away from these corrupt politicians. The country looks to each of us to defy these tyrants and stand up to defend the existence of this beautiful nation.
As John F. Kennedy said in 1961 in his inaugural address passionately suggested to the Americans at that time of need ‘Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You, Ask What You Can Do For Your Country’, we need to rekindle this emotion now for Pakistan

There is a feeling of helplessness prevalent everywhere. Can we even do anything? Do we even have a say in this? I agree people are disheartened with the country now more than ever. A friend of mine is due to leave for Canada for higher studies and he does not intend to return – for the same reasons :(!
@Raza so true , i agree with of you .. people started to lose hope, because of the hopeless government and circumstances that we are living in, but let us keep our hopes up if we lost hope in the government, there first and far most ALLAH .. inshallah things will turn out to be good with our hard work ..
I read in the Media about the deal and I get so depressed, what a hipocracy!!!! the people and their Masters who claim for democracy day in and day out, shamelessly are ‘announcing’ BB as the next PM.
How dare…
and F%$# Altaf Hussain, how can he support Mush to have a deal with BB and how can Karachites forget the ethnic cleansing operation committed by Naseer Babar and the bitch!.
Why don’t bastards like our political leaders and their accomplice Generals, all die in one big earth quake. Thats what I wish on this 60th ‘Independence’ day.
What I dreamt ’bout pak that Pakistan shud’ve been as bigger as it is india on map and its total population would be Muslims and india shud’ve been as small as pak on the map and its all population would be hindu.
Pakistan shud’ve been economy-wise as strong as china or Malaysia. its ruler shud’ve been poorer and its public shoud’ve been richest and we would’ve followed Islam in our every aspect of life with heart & soul.
Lo all goes contrary to it..the country which has been created in the name of Islam has turn sadly so sadly i didnt want to say but i’ve to say,
Pakistan is a cesspool of crime and corruption in this 60 years due to perverse politics/politician/policies
yet I love its soil as I born here so shall I die here?
