Update @ 2345: PCO amended for Musharraf to retain power to lift emergency

General Pervez Musharraf has amended the Provisional Constitution Order to retain the power of lifting the emergency as civilian president. Under the previous PCO, the power to lift emergency rests with the army chief. Now, the President says that he will doff his uniform by the end of November.

The PCO Amendment Order empowers the office of the President to revoke the Emergency on the day that he deem fit. Since Musharraf has announced that on December 1st he will shed his uniform in favor of the Presidential office. It must be remembered that the new Supreme court bench is due to hear the pending case on the legality of Pervaiz Musharraf in the coming week/
