Pakistan has been suspended from the Commonwealth because of its imposition of emergency rule. Secretary General Don McKinnon said Pakistan was being suspended “pending restoration of democracy and the rule of law”. It must be noted that this is the second time that Pakistan has been expelled from the Commonwealth. The country was suspended in 1999, after Gen Musharraf seized power in a coup.
Ten days ago Commonwealth foreign ministers from the bloc gave Pakistan 10 days to lift its emergency rule or face suspension, but on its expiration the country still remains under emergency hence the body was forced to take this drastic step

Hi,
Thanks for your brave reporting. This is Marit, Bouleuterion. MSM is reporting that Khan was released with the 3,000? Is this true?
My site is pass protected, if you’d like access, as I’ve been covering the crisis, please email.
Thanks,

who cares
As Mush said, we are on track for progress. Mush touts would even support this and say ‘who cares’, and when (if) Pakistan is taken into common wealth, they would claim for the credit.
@ Marit
Imran Khan was released with other 3000 people on Nov. 21, 2007.
