Sharifuddin Pirzada seeks Justice

Dawn newspaper published a story today about the arrest of a few NAB officials who were arrested for beating an accused ‘within the premises of the Supreme Court’ whats interesting to read in the report was the fact that

Dogar Court was actually responding to a petition filed by ‘Judicial King Pins’ like Sharifuddin Pirzada, Senator Babar Awan and Wasim Sajjad who wanted to transfer ‘a case’ from Lahore High Court to the Supreme Court [mifled laughter] because they did not expect any justice from the high court as it was, “under the influence” of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif[…and the Supreme Court is under the influence of ….LOL – whatever happened to the notion of justice]

Its hilarious to see Sharifuddin Pirzada plead ‘for justice’ when historically he has been involved in actually manumpilating and altering the Constitution of Pakistan molding in favor of the ruler of that time most recently he helped Musharraf manipulate the consutitution to protect his martial law and other illegal steps he took during that time – all have now been embeded and legalised by his very own Dogar Court

Realistically I have no idea what’s at stake in this case but apparently it seems to be an old-guard [PML-Q] vs new-guard [PML-N] issue and Sharifuddin Pirzada being a chip off the old block is definitely helping out and cashing in his favors – its payback time for Dogar Court

Let’s also not forget the poor chap (accountant) who was at the receiving end of the thrashing from the NAB.officers – it seems he also wants a piece of the action as it seems the NAB guys sniped Rs 450,000 from him [LOL I wonder if that’s the usual spare change he carries in his pocket]

NAB officers held for beating accused on SC premises

ISLAMABAD, July 24: Two senior officers of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) were arrested and sent to jail for showing contempt to the Supreme Court by beating and humiliating an accused within the court premises on Thursday.

On learning about the incident, Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar convened a special three-member bench and ordered a senior police officer to arrest NAB’s monitoring officer Colonel (retd) Tariq Bhatti and investigating officer Mohammad Aslam for committing contempt of court.

“They don’t have any respect for the sanctity of this court,” Chief Justice Hameed Dogar, who headed the special bench, observed in an angry tone. He wondered who had given them the authority to arrest anyone from within the premises of the court.

“Even if they had warrants, they could have arrested the accused outside the premises of the court,” the chief justice observed.

The bench was convened on a hurriedly moved application by senior counsel Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada, Senator Babar Awan and Wasim Sajjad representing Haris Steel Industries (Pvt). They requested the court to take an immediate action against the delinquent officers and order release of Irfan Ali, an accountant of the company.

They said that after the hearing of a transfer case on Thursday, their client Irfan Ali had been mercilessly beaten up on the ground floor of the Supreme Court building by four or five men of NAB.

The court was hearing a petition for transfer of a case related to the Bank of Punjab from Lahore High Court to the Supreme Court.

Sharifuddin Pirzada, Wasim Sajjad, two former NAB prosecutors general Irfan Qadir and Naveed Rasool Mirza and Senator Babar Awan moved the petition, seeking shifting of the case.

They said they did not expect any justice from the high court as it was, “under the influence” of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and his brother, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Despite directives of the high court not to harass the accused and not to raid the premises of Haris Steel Industries, the NAB authorities confiscated Rs270 million by breaking lockers inside the company. The LHC on July 15 even refused to proceed with the matter.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court restrained NAB from harassing or taking any action against the accused and adjourned the hearing for Aug 6.

After the hearing, the NAB officers entered the room meant for Advocate-on-Records where Mr Irfan was waiting to get written orders of the court. They dragged him, beating up all the way to the parking lot and dumped him in a vehicle.

The entire episode was recorded by cameramen of different private channels and when some journalists tried to stop the officials they were threatened not to interfere in state affairs. The NAB officials even tried to snatch a camera recording the event.

Reporters also filed affidavits before the court narrating the incident.

The Chief Justice summoned NAB chairman Naveed Ahsan, NAB Prosecutor General Dr Danishwar Malik, Attorney General Malik Mohammad Qayyum and the officers involved in the manhandling of Irfan. The attorney general informed the court that initially the NAB officers denied arresting Irfan from the court premises, but when they were told that their claim could be contested by showing the footage, they had accepted it.

The court ordered the NAB chairman to launch a departmental inquiry against the officers and release Mr Irfan.

Mr Irfan informed the court that the NAB officers had taken away Rs450,000 from his possession when he was arrested. The court asked him to submit an affidavit.

Another Rs 13 Billion write-off coming?
BoP scam: SC takes up plea to shift case today
…Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada, Wasim Sajjad, two former Prosecutors Generals of NAB Irfan Qadir, Naveed Rasool Mirza and Dr Babar Awan have moved a petition in the apex court pleading for the shifting of the hearing of the Bank of Punjab scam case, which is being investigated by NAB, from LHC to the Supreme Court by exercising the power conferred on it by P.O.No.5 of 2007 whereby Gen. Musharraf by amending Article 186-A of the Constitution gave powers to the Supreme Court to transfer any of the pending cases from any High Court to its own file.

The petitioners have prayed that they do not expect justice from the LHC as it is situated in the province, which is under the influence of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, the latter being the chief minister of the province….

(Sorry the name of the main culprit slips my mind but he owns Harris Steel and happens to live close by. They own 4 2-kanal houses here in DHA (one is for cars alone and one is where his dogs live — I am not kidding). Recently he and his family were allowed to escape the country and are in Malaysia right now but there business are still doing business here as usual. A Dawn report had claimed police had siezed 21 of his vehicles including a Ferrari, a BMW, a Range Rover, etc. but I doubt it as all their cars are still at their house. The teenage son Harrris drives around a Porsche 911 turbo cabriolet, among others. )

    Here’s a laugher:
“The action against the Bank of Punjab was not totally wrong as the bank extended loans to the steel group on political grounds, which turned into bad loans,” said a senior banker. I guess this is what Haramzada and Wasim Sajjad are going to be arguing….

    The Fix Is In!!!!!

Yesterday I posted a bit about Bank of Punjab and the Rs13 billion write-off

Well, I pick up today’s Dawn and saw the headline NAB officers held for beating accused on SC premises and right away I knew it had to do with that story from yesterday. I started reading and soon confirmed my hunch….Yes it was about Haris Steel and BoP.

I can bet you this whole incidence was staged. Though I did not see any TV yesterday the story says the whole incidence was caught on tape by many channels. My point is that that was the intent. So what is happening here is the perpetrator is being portrayed as “a victim” before the whole world. Bet you now the case would be moved to Dogar court and decision will be in favor of Haris Steel and against NAB….

I might also point out the people representing Haris Steel: Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada, Senator Babar Awan and Wasim Sajjad. Also keep in mind the main culprit in this case, the owner of Haris Steel, is the tight-hand man of the Chaudhries of Gujrat and is in charge of their foreign investments. Just imagine how much they stole if they were giving away Rs 13 billion to just one guy….

    Here is another giveaway:
On learning about the incident, Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar convened a special three-member bench and ordered a senior police officer to arrest NAB’s monitoring officer Colonel (retd) Tariq Bhatti and investigating officer Mohammad Aslam for committing contempt of court.

“They don’t have any respect for the sanctity of this court,” Chief Justice Hameed Dogar, who headed the special bench, observed in an angry tone.
