A Blessing in Disguise

Guest Post by Temporal from Baithak Blog

The UN Security Council Committee condemning LeT and its parent JD should be a blessing in disguise for the political leadership of Pakistan.

They could use this powerful international nudge to clamp down on the ISI and the terrorist breeding factories masquerading as madaris and religious charitable organizations.

This is the time to kill two birds with one resolve backed by firm action. The beards and ISI (backed by support from a segment of the occupying army) would thwart and resist every inch of the way.

They should, they could and they won’t.

Why?

Because there is a qehhat ul rejaal in the political leadership. There are no statesmen, no giants, no leaders either in the centre or in the provinces.

Self serving pygmies react – they do not act.

Awab what happened to your reasoning and thinking?
This is exactly what they want…a crackdown on wider scale. Then supplying terrorists with more weapons and creating an uncontrolled situation. Then finally joining in under UN and NATO cover. Government has been acting very wisely in handling this volatile situation ad we all should appreciate it.

Pakistan is a failed state. It doesn’t stand on what it was founded upon. Neither political leadership nor the military leadership is sincere to Islam.

It is all a big “Game” between political leadership and Armed forces leaderhip, to make fool of the people of Pakistan, and also keep the rule over the people of Pakistan. Thus the “Leadership” continues in their luxurious e.g. debaucherous way of life.

But one day they will have what they truly deserve for what the do to people. InshAllah.

I think the ISI is very over-rated. What is Intelligence Agencies for? To pre-emt actions or reactions from anti-state elements and what I see is that ISI miserably failed in dong exactly that – I personally think IB is much better then ISI. IB solved cases like Amal Kasi, Nishtar Park Bombing apart from the French Engineer’s Case but that should not be an excuse to dismantle ISI as it’s a disciplined force and effective overseas (atleast).

I do not believe that elements in ISI are rouges. You know that all of our intelligence agencies there’s a “Counter Intelligence Department” which works as a filter and check on all the personals? So there are checks and balances in all intelligence agencies expect FIA (which is not an intelligence agency but a security force) although, I must admit there new Counter Terrorism Unit is by far more professional then any other counter terrorism force in Pakistan. IB is better technology-wise; ISI is good at conducting and collecting intelligence vital from defense point of view.

We developed something called the Directorate of National Security Advisor at Prime Minister Secretariat under Maj.General Asad Durrani as National Security Advisor. The job of the office is to bring co-ordination between intelligence agencies and security forces and update our Prime Minister daily. I am sure with time the directorate will get better.

What really needs overhauling is our “security doctrine” and security doctrine could only get better when Armed Forces stop playing a parallel role in policy making. I am not for alienating Security Forces completely from decision making but the politicians needs to be given “decision making powers”.

I am so glad with the conduct of the current government in countering the irresponsible (and somewhat legitimate) Indian Response. But as a nation we need a “danda” to get things done be it to impose Agricultural Tax (thanks to IMF) or Behaving Ourselves (from the World Community) and it’s all in our national interest.

If a fundoo gets his hands on a nuke from russia or somewhere and blasts it in west the blame is going to come on pakistan and India Israel would use the oppertunity to get rid of our nukes. we wont be able to sustain such attack with crazy beards on western border and separatist movements in the country. The government must quickly clamp down on rogue elements in ISI and ban all fundu jihadi parties

Now Islamic militants have spread beyond their tribal bases COVER STORY: PAKISTAN (FROM NEWS WEEK) 07/12/08
Where the Jihad Lives, and have the run of an unstable, nuclear-armed nation.
Whoever the real culprits turn out to be, the truth is that Pakistan’s government has only itself to blame for the carnage in Karachi. Pakistani leaders created the Islamist monster that now operates with near impunity throughout the country. Militant Islamist groups that were originally recruited, trained and armed by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI) have since become Islamabad’s deadliest enemies. Twice they have nearly succeeded in assassinating Musharraf, who was once among their strongest supporters. In the last six years extremists have killed more than 1,000 Pakistani troops.
Today no other country on earth is arguably more dangerous than Pakistan. It has everything Osama bin Laden could ask for: political instability, a trusted network of radical Islamists, an abundance of angry young anti-Western recruits, secluded training areas, access to state-of-the-art electronic technology, regular air service to the West and security services that don’t always do what they’re supposed to do. (Unlike in Iraq or Afghanistan, there also aren’t thousands of American troops hunting down would-be terrorists.) Then there’s the country’s large and growing nuclear program. “If you were to look around the world for where Al Qaeda is going to find its bomb, it’s right in their backyard,” says Bruce Riedel, the former senior director for South Asia on the National Security Council.
The conventional story about Pakistan has been that it is an unstable nuclear power, with distant tribal areas in terrorist hands. What is new, and more frightening, is the extent to which Taliban and Qaeda elements have now turned much of the country, including some cities, into a base that gives jihadists more room to maneuver, both in Pakistan and beyond.
In recent months, as Musharraf has grown more and more unpopular after eight years of rule, Islamists have been emboldened. The homegrown militants who have hidden Al Qaeda’s leaders since the end of 2001 are no longer restricted to untamed mountain villages along the border. These Islamist fighters now operate relatively freely in cities like Karachi—a process the U.S. and Pakistani governments call “Talibanization.” Hammered by suicide bombers and Iraq-style IEDs and reluctant to make war on its countrymen, Pakistan’s demoralized military seems incapable of stopping the jihadists even in the cities. “Until I return to fight, I’ll feel safe and relaxed here,” Abdul Majadd, a Taliban commander who was badly wounded this summer during a fire fight against British troops in Afghanistan, told NEWSWEEK recently after he was evacuated to Karachi for emergency care.

Temporal – meaning relating to worldly as opposed to spitual affairs – secular
or relating to or of time. In Urdu
‘ JIDAR DEEKHI THALI PARAT WHAN NACHI SARI RAAT’.
Most have been said but I just contribute by quoting Ghawa e Tabuk example and said about people who stayed behind in Sura Tawbah

“Among them is (many) a man who says, ‘Grant me exemption and draw me not into trial. ‘Have they not fallen into trial already? And indeed Hell surrounds the unbelievers (on all sides). (At-Tawbah: 49) ”

The hypocrites and one to another, ‘Don’t go froth in heat.” Therefore, Allah, Most High, revealed in their connection,

“They said, ‘Go not forth in heat. ‘Say, ‘The fire Hell is fiercer in heat, ‘if only they could understand. Let them laugh they could understand. Let them laugh a little: Much will they weep: a recompense for the (evil) that they do. (At-Tawbah: 81-82)”

Moreover, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) urged his wealthy Companions to spend in the Way of Allah. According to Ibn Hisham, Uthman (may Alah be pleased with him) spend 1000 Dinar in the cause of Allah on the day of Tabuk when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ” O Allah, may you be pleased with Uthman for I am pleased with him ”

Dear Temporal if u can understand. But if you think or anyone who thinks like you that they have better understanding than ALLAH and his prophet Mohammed pbuh Than I Pray for you parents’ forgiveness (if they r muslims)

Its not a blessing, its a joke. The people and organizations who are themselves responsible for the massacre of people and who turned a blind eye to illegal occupations and invasions of sovereign countries are now calling others as Terrorist

I think UN should keep following the dictation by the MASTERS and soon Muslims would feel proud to be called as Terrorists.

please don’t leave him alone and do not talk to any one else.
not jihad but revolution. jihad is still going on.
there are 2 type of people who can bring this revolution.
    1) religious fighters (over estimated)
    2) poors.(under estimated) no body adresses the issues of poor their miserable conditions of living.(we saw the glimpse of revolution first time when robbers were burnt alive in karachi and second time when the electricity bill were set on fire.
you have a very nice gift, a reconciliatory approach to every dispute.that is why you feel offended when some one suggests a violent and hostile method to solve the issue.
that is what make you a victim of exaggerations. 🙂

Well said dear! Mush had taken the responsibility upon himself to crush Taliban menace on receiving a single phone call from USA. Our so called democratic government is however doing all this avowedly as a white-wash only to satisfy the world to avoid being called a rogue or terrorist state. All of them had to be goaded by their self-interest as they lacked any kind of commitment. Any how they keep on protesting against, what they call, ‘ilzaamtarraashi’ also without realizing perhaps that they are protesting too much like the proverbial lady.

Counter Intelligence is what Intelligence Agencies are for, not a department like internal affairs department in some of the enforcement agencies.

And I still believe our agencies are attempting to do good. May be, and I say may be there are elements which have their own agenda but as an institution they are a necessary part of a country's intelligence system.

From where this army came from? were donated to Pakistan? no, they are Pakistanis as well, from where these crap politician came from? haan? Paki breed. This shows the problem lies right under our own feet, they all came from us, and this shows we are bad as a individual as well as nation.. some serious overhauling needed. you can reap apple if you sow onion. I don’t disagree with you that we are corrupt as people as well. We have to follow Islam on individual level which is easy to say but difficult to act upon. Surely we must change to avoid facing Allah’s Wrath hereafter.

My perspective on the comment above was that to make a quick and big change all over Pakistan we have to find good and pious leaders. Yes sure if everybody changes we will have a big change tomorrow but that to me is more unlikely. So somehow we have to get a good leadership that will cause the people in pakistan moving in the right direction. InshAllah.
