I must thank all our donors that our campaign is going strong, local personal efforts have pulled in a close to Rs. 1,300,000 equivalent to purchasing 430 relief hampers for the refugees in Swat & Mardan. Of the funds collected so far we have allocated Rs. 400,000 for medical items, details of which are being feverishly worked out. We also await the final concession by Makro on the relief package news of which will come early Monday after a decision from the top management expecting the cost of the hampers to drop to 2,500 – we will still continue our campaign at Rs. 3,000 so that the surplus can be used to acquire more hampers or aid. helping us reach the goal of collecting relief for 1200 families [7200 people]
All financial details will be kept public at http://cli.gs/idpack even during the trip, the costs incurred will be supported with full receipts and shared online so as to ensure full transparency of this noble effort to help our countrymen
The overall plan is to collect funds and deposit them to Makro, who in turn have promised to ship the goods from their warehouse in Lahore under our own custody.
I am tentatively scheduled to leave on Wednesday to Islamabad to attend a high-level meeting of NGO’s brainstorming on IDP relief and hope to contribute with ideas etc, from Islamabad I hope to reach Peshawar & Mardan on Thursday while some of our team members will be going to Lahore directly to physically take custody of the relief goods from Makro. My early arrival in Mardan will allow me to strategize on the best way to disperse off the goods to the rightful people avoiding a free for all snatch fest which was seen in Earthquake 2005
We are feverishly working with international NGO’s like PakSef to have online donations available for our international supporters those funds will be transfered directly to Makro and delivery will be made to our team in Lahore.
The other most essential items required for the IDP’s are tents which are priced at 11,500 each, if someone is anxious to contribute towards that cause please update us I am sure we can pool resources to maybe acquire a container full of tents ready for delivery in Mardan.
Running updates are available on my twitter account http://twitter.com/DrAwab while financial details are publicly available at http://cli.gs/idpack

Hey Indoos,
Srilankans have rightly kicked RAW out of Srilanka, atleast for right now
Indian Agent, Paar-bhaag-k-Run is now hiding with his masters.
All the money RAW spent on PR in the west has gone waste…..chchchhchchc
@hatebjp!
i don't see this new development as a victory of srilankan armed forces.i believe that indians stopped supporting LTTE. they just closed this front.otherwise the gorrilas of LTTE could hide in the forest and could give the tough time for 100 more years.this is matter of demand and supply.with out indian support LTTE couldn't have fought for this long.
i believe india has decided to concentrate more on pakistan than any other country in this region .the utmost interest for indians, americans and afghans is to prolong this war as much as they can.because prolongation is a defeat for pakistan army.
ohhh GOD! such a tough time and such a lousy and corrupt leadership.
govt spent 72,00,000/rs for new motor veichles for a minister……

i am in a fear that as a nation, pay back time has come.
we are reaping what we inseminated.
may Almighty forgive our sins and mercy on pakistan.
dr awab!
very well done.may Almighty give you a fair reward for your efforts.these relief campaign is necessary not only the survival of IDP's but also our survival.
we can't just sit and watch this tragedy to be occured.
more than a million people has been displaced. what if these people become angry, hostile and offensive?
is it my impression or it is just happening? that i didn't see the passion of general public for helping these IDP's which i saw in 2005 for the relief of earth quake victims.
I am not sure what needs to be said here. But overall, I think the Swat operation is of utmost importance. This is a cancer that is spreading across the whole country. It nothing different to the red mosque thing where a bunch of hooligans decided that they are in the best interest of the country by kidnapping policemen, general public, and what not – to install so called justice.
History repeats itself (Jange Nahrawan – in Hazrat Ali's caliphate). A group of Muslims who "looked" to be practising Islam and they mixed it with violence. They were dealth with full force and wiped off then – and this is exactly what should be done now.
Who should do what now -is anybody's guess..
UN: Pakistan displacement may be worst since Rwanda
The U.N. refugee agency said Monday that nearly 1.5 million people have fled their homes in Pakistan this month, saying that fighting between government forces and Taliban militants is uprooting more people faster than probably any conflict since the Rwandan genocide of the 1990s.
"It has been long time since there has been a displacement this big," said UNHCR spokesman Ron Redmond, trying to recollect the last time so many people were uprooted in such a short period.
"It could go back to Rwanda," Redmond said, referring to the 1994 massacre of ethnic Tutsis by the majority Hutus in the African country. "It's an enormous number of people."
Redmond spoke as the U.N.'s refugee chief Antonio Guterres returned from a three-day mission to Pakistan, and as Taliban forces vowed to resist military advances in the northwest's Swat Valley until their "last breath."
He said the newly uprooted added to over 550,000 people who were already registered as displaced in northwest Pakistan, meaning there are over 2 million people separated from their homes in the country.
"Humanitarian workers are struggling to keep up with the size and speed of the displacement," Redmond told journalists in Geneva, where UNHCR has its headquarters. He said a lack of help for the displaced and the many thousands of families hosting them could cause more "political destabilization" for the country.
The International Organization for Migration was sending trucks full of quilts, sleeping mats and other goods to help the influx of people in camps near Peshawar, said spokesman Jean-Philippe Chauzy.
Still, they were only reaching a fraction of the displaced.
U.N. humanitarian spokeswoman Elisabeth Byrs said the global body was preparing to launch an international appeal for aid programs in the country by the end of the week.
Redmond said it would have to be in the "hundreds of millions of dollars."
"We know these are tough economic times, but we believe the same international community that has found billions to rescue financial systems also has an obligation to rescue people in need," he said.

Well, if the militants in Swat, malakand were cancer then why we didn' such an exodus?
Pakistani policitians, beaurucrats and now Pak Army are the biggest cancer that happened to Pakistan.
They were responsible for the break up of Pakistan in 1971 and they are the ones responsible for murdering Pakistanis today.

In my opinion Army operation is the right thing to happen now. This operation should not be just to flush out the Talibans but eliminate them once and for all most importantly the beasts like Fazalullah, Sufi , amier Izzat, Muslimkhan etc. They should be punished publicly.
once and for all?
how do you do that?how army can do that?
they do not have the courage to stop drone attacks.
first there was only drone attacks now it is pakistani jet fighters and guns who are killing the people of swat, destroying their houses and work, making them displaced in unprecedented numbers.
2.5 million people forced to live in miserable conditions just to fight 4000 taliban.
people of swat have suffered a lot.every family has a tragic story.
and now people of all provinces protesting and restricting their entry.
pakistan govt millions of dollar for this job and they are busy in world tour in exotic places.
chappal chor zardari have already said that he is interested in the operation in other areas of the tribal belt.
once and for all?…..yes it can be.there is 2 ways for treating illness either you treat the sickness by well planned treatment or you kill the patient.
pakistanis chose the last option.
may God almighty mercy on us.
