What about our president? He has no degree at all, let alone a fake one 🙂

We are represented by a thug, who used the name of his assasinated wife-who used the name of his assasinated father to win the hearts of people.

If that has been the trend, looks like stage is being set up for Bilawal Zardari or sister-zardari….lol

Balance of power to be ensured: Musharraf Staff Reporter
      http://www.lib.virginia.edu/area-studies/SouthAsi

      [DAWN 23 Feb 2002]

President Gen Pervez Musharraf said that check and balance "on all power brokers" of the country would be ensured to have genuine democracy after the October election. "Unfortunately the president, the prime minister and the chief of the army staff had been misusing their powers in the past, (but) this will not happen any more," the president asserted. Asked that since the majority of people were illiterate and did not have the knowledge of computers the condition of graduation should be dropped, the president replied: "I have no knowledge of computers, but I believe that the condition of B.A is necessary."

    A facility for fraud By I. A. Rehman October 04, 2007 http://www.dawn.com/2007/10/04/op.htm
Above all, the graduation condition opened the way to corruption and crime. Court records confirm many politicians’ efforts at buying and forging degrees. And the scheme to admit madressah certificates as graduation degrees led to perhaps the greatest electoral fraud in the subcontinent’s history. The deception was detected within months of the 2002 polls, but the huge wrong has not been remedied to this day. The story of this case made the argument for abolishing the degree condition incontrovertible.

A challenge to the election of 68 parliamentarians, 65 belonging to the MMA and three to the PML (Q), was mounted in the Supreme Court in June 2003 by Advocate Aslam Khaki, who contended that the madressah sanads (certificates) the respondents had relied upon were not equivalent to graduation. The court admitted the petition and ordered notices to the Election Commission and the respondents through the Senate chairman and speakers of the national/provincial assemblies.

The petition aroused great interest as the respondents included most of the MMA members of the National Assembly. Only a couple of MMA leaders would have retained their seats if the petition was accepted.

The matter became more serious when an election tribunal of the Peshawar High Court nullified Kohat MNA Mufti Ibrar Sultan’s election, saying his sanad was not equivalent to graduation. Quite a few legal stalwarts had led arguments. The petitioner was a former federal law minister, and the attorney-general and the provincial advocate-general were summoned to assist the tribunal. The former firmly declared that madressah sanads were not equivalent to graduation and the latter agreed with him.

But so far revelations concerning fake educational certificates have focused mainly on two groups of people — politicians (who as lawmakers are no longer required to hold a graduate degree) and doctors. The concern should be a broader one, encompassing all professions. Deeper investigation into the matter would surely reveal that professions such as engineering, law-enforcement, etc also have their share of unethical members using phony educational credentials. Such elements not only devalue legitimate degrees and certificates earned through sheer hard work and persistence, they also compromise the credibility and performance of institutions or organisations that hire such fraudulent candidates. Universal maxim on democracy is that every citizen has a right to vote and has a right to contest the election, if he is not convicted on criminal ground by a court. In Dasti case, Supreme Court was kind enough to ask him to resign and save his skin and record which he did. By the time when he submitted nomination papers again in bye election, the Graduation bar was gone. That is why he was allowed by the court to contest the election.

An interesting point to ponder is that Phoolan Devi was elected in the Lok Sabha in India.

There is no comparison between Dashti and G M Syed. But G M Syed [the mover of Pakistan Resolution in Sindh Assembly] didn't go to any School or College and similarly Pir Ali Mohammad Rashdi [a noted Journalist and diplomat] had also not attended any School or College.

      Request: Dear Dr Awab,

How come a single link become a "wild tangents" and you say it has nothing to do with the Topic. [A Short History of US Adventur-ism]???? Quite Strange.

-Our educated class in bureaucracy and army has served the nation a lot. That is why we are against fake degree holders

    – our oxford returned politicians surely contributing a lot in nation buildings.

Paid writers and journalists of Pakistan are always guiding Pakistani masses toward right directions that is why it is our primary right to stand against such fake degrees.

Dr dasti is representing the real representation of his area which is one of deprived area under control of khar, gurdezis and gillanis like feudal.

This area has lowest literacy area in Punjab, poor rate of development from govt level, and slavery like traditions still prominent in this area.

This unlucky area is under control of corrupt edcuated bureaucrats, brutal foreign returned feudal characters since the creation of Pakistan so what is real purpose of this ineffective protest, still not clear.
