Murderers, Looters & Thugs – Outlive the Innocent, Law-abiding & Philanthropic : RIP – Parveen Rehman

I Parveen RehmanToday marks another sad day for Pakistan – Parveen Rehman the director of Orangi Pilot Project was assassinated in Karachi – I express my anger & frustration to literally say that Murderers, Looters & Thugs sadly outlive the Innocent, Law-abiding & Philanthropic – I curse our so called “elected” leaders

Orangi Pilot Project was a people’s financed and managed Low-Cost Sanitation Program; a Housing Program; a Basic Health and Family Planning Program; a Program of Supervised Credit for Small Family Enterprise Units; an education Program; and a Rural development Program in the nearby villages

Today Pakistan has lost a Philanthropic Legend !! My heart bleeds, Your heart bleeds, beneficiaries of the Orangi Pilot Project will also Mourn today – But do our so called elected leaders AT ALL CARE — NO —

Best they can do, is continue protecting the murderers who murdered this legend today … tomorrow morning we all will see papers full of condemnations from our President, Prime Minister, Governor, Chief Minister and even the Chief Justice to all chime in unison “Notice Lay Liya” – “We will launch and investigation” – “We will find the culprits” – each and every Pakistani knows these standardized ritualistic statements, and they also know NOTHING will ever happen, all of these fanfare politicians will come to attend her Namaz-e-Janazah, pose in front of the camera, give those glorious touching statement – but will do NOTHING – these shameless elected politicians will ensure that the crooks are NEVER found, the story will disappear, 180 millions Pakistanis will forget Parveen Rehman – who killed her? or Why did they kill her? is a mystery which will never be answered – Shame on each and every elected leader – you were elected to protect the rights of the people, not to protect your own lives and pockets.

Murderers, Looters & Thugs sadly will continue to outlive the Innocent, Law-abiding & Philanthropic.

Karachi, Navy, Terror, Dharna

Waking up once again to the news of a terrible blast– the third in 48 hours in Karachi, all three on Naval buses! Two things make these blasts distinct from the others that make the daily news in Pakistan: one, the death toll (that is different for every blast of course) and two, this time around our law enforcing agencies already had information of the attacks on Naval cadre. Of course, the attackers did not specify the time, venue and nature of attacks, neither did they send our agencies the ID’s of the attackers, nor did the attackers presented themselves to the law enforcers so our law enforcing agencies and government are certainly not to be blamed for their criminal negligence!

This reminds me, last night a friend told me I should be thankful I live in a peaceful and safe area of Karachi; their area (Gulistan-e-Johar) is Afghanistan, with Baghdad starting from right around the Johar Mor! We are so immune to bloodshed that we practically laugh upon heaps of mutilated dead bodies!

No, we don’t stop at just that, this ridiculous behavior is only limited to the average of the masses. The more literate, the wiser ones do it in a different way. They baselessly criticize, call naïve and morally corrupt fame-seeker any leader who in these most horrendous of circumstances has the courage to give a two-full-days successful dharna against killing of our innocent Pakistanis, in the most targeted city of Peshawar, staying up in the midst of his supporters all night, sleeping on the floor of the stage and wearing a simple latha shalwar kameez (as opposed to the million dollar ‘cheap’ suits other leaders wear!).

In-Camera security briefing – Your analysis?

Today at 5pm marks the start of Pakistans third ever in-camera parliamentary briefing on the security situation in Pakistan. It is to be made by the top brass of Pakistan army specifically Director-General of Military Operations, Lt.-General Ahmad Shuja Pasha, who will be presenting the Pakistan Army’s point of view which has been approved by the President Asif Ali Zardari.

While I would be the first to accept that this is a positive step in the right direction to take the Parliamentarians into confidence but I have a few reservations. More along the lines that this is a one-way conversation and the strategy is not open for debate / revision. If this one-way conversation cannot be questioned or modified then I fear it is all hoopla and this session will only serve as a rubber stamp for allowing a free hand to Zardari a license to do as he or Americans desire ‘in the name of war on terror, as approved by the members of Pakistani parliament’. Its sadly has all the hallmarks of the rubber stamping parliament that Musharraf used previously, took them ‘into confidence’ but did everything as he pleased

Overlooking my own reservations, what is your take on this in-camera briefing
