Karachi listed on Google Earth

For those who have not seen satellite images of Karachi prepare to be mesmerized, Google Earth (previously know as Keyhole before being bought out by Google) now has some very high quality images of Karachi sharp enough to 0.6m. Be warned that the images are highquality so maybe with a dial-up connection things could get hairy

Download Google Earth and then download the Karachi placemarks the user ramizq1 has done a remarkable effort to place 38 placemarks for Karachi, help out to improve the identifying landmarks in Karachi.

UPDATE: 28th Aug I have taken the liberty to improve upon the placemarks done my RamizQ and have uploaded it onto the Google Earth BBS Enjoy !

Since Google has a close association with the Pentagon regarding logging all google search engine data…I wonder if these satellite images are courtesy the US military. What do you think?

BTW, new post up regarding Bolton on my blog…would love your comment on it.

Nah, the US military have probably got much more sophisticated equipment of their own. I bet they could almost zoom in on every individual ANY place in this friggin world. and yet they couldn’t find that guy Osama … !

thanks for those placemarks. was playing around with it last night. was rather fun. if you think about it, google earth is actually a rather futile utility. it serves no purpose whatsoever, yet you can spend hours and days fooling around with it.

How does Google Earth perform on a V.90 dial-up? I am assuming that won’t be snappy? Would appreciate if someone can provide some feedback.
