Technology Junkies!!! Tune into the weekly podcast of This Week in Tech, an amazing hour long broadcast which is available for download. The hosts are (ex-TechTV Screensavers hosts), Leo Laporte and Patrick Norton and Kevin Rose, if you have ever watched TechTV you must already miss them and their amazing ScreenSavers show on TechTV. As a team are amazing to listen to, they provide some hardcore technology news and are usually very creative in answering some tough technology question on the spot. The podcasts are uploaded every Monday as an MP3 format via BitTorrent, you can simply upload it into your iPod and enjoy it on your drive to work, due to the time difference in Pakistan I have had the pleasure of listening to them on the Tuesday commute.
As my contribution to Karachi-based people (starved for decent dial-up speeds), I offer to download this MP3 file (usually 25-35MB) and if you happen to drive by Shahrai-Faisal maybe you can drop by my office and get a copy on a Flash Drive / CDR – PS: I am not handing out free flash drives or CDR’s so bring one along ;). GetRight’s new version 6 makes downloading podcasts so much easier, and Apple just updated iTunes to 4.9 to add podcast downloads too and autosync to the iPod. While I am still stuck with dial-up too, I use one of those night-free prepaid cards and let my pc automatically connect, download and disconnect during the night to download those huge files. I manage several gigs of data this way every month. Worth a try for all those of you who are stuck in the same spectrum.
I was a regular watcher of that show when it was on TV, good old TechTV and even earlier ZDNet days. The new network now sucks! I was happy to see the old tech gang doing a podcast. I follow what Kevin and Yoshi are up to the most and tune into the TWIT airing every week. Good stuff.
