Its been a few days since I have posted on my blog, I apologize for the lapse. I have been actively involved with providing assistance to the victims of the Earthquake. Generating funds and Mashallah through our Donate a Dollar Campaign have collected upwards of $2200 in the 1 1/2 week of operation. Jazak’Allah to all those who donated.
In the effort I have launched a campaign to raise funds for the AFID (Armed Forces Institute of Dentistry, Pindi) which is the HQ for all Maxillofacial Surgery in the Earthquake. A number of volunteer surgeons from all over Pakistan have gone to the center to do surgeries round-the-clock to save lives. The AFID has provided me a list of items that it needs URGENTLY. So here in Karachi, I have organized a campaign amongst dentist “Dentist for Earthquake Relief – Building Bridge, Filling Cavities and Now Saving Lives”. Inshallah soon we will donate a handsome amount to AFID- Inshallah.
Another idea is slowly taking shape which is geared towards the long-term benefit for Pakistan. This campaign is “Proud Pakistan” the idea driven by the fact that its cool to be called a Pakistani now, though for me, I have always been proud to be called a Pakistani. Everyone knows that during this disaster we were UNITED as one Nation hand-in-hand selflessly working for Pakistanis, without concern to Province or Bradari, it was an amazing sight and the feeling was amazing, I wish I could preserve this aura in a bottle and allow our nation a whiff once in a while to get them back on track.
The idea took birth during an MSN conversation between Omer Alvie and myself (hence called Team Alvi-e) A few amazing ideas have come through and to improve upon the idea it is essential to expand our team and are now on the lookout for volunteers willing to work for Pakistan. On a rough idea our head-hunting is for Marketing Specialists, Graphic Designers, Web Designers and any other committed person willing to work selflessly to Improve our country. Drop me an email and we can surely fit you in. Pakistan needs you.

Doc, let me know how i can help, i’m alright with graphics etc.
my friends organized a walk to raise money for the earthquake victims. we pledged to raise around £10,000. we are still 1500 pounds short of the target.
I would like to say nce again its great what you people have been doing for the earthquake victims. The blogging community has come a long way by contributing, helping out and publisizing the devastation that was caused by the earthquake. sound minds always come up front in the face of adversity. Immidiate help has been forthcomming but we have to contribute more and work for rebuilding efforts which will take a long time. Good Luck to you in your noble endevours and let me know if i can help in anyway with your new project.
Dr. Alvi,
I’d love to help out in any way that I can. My parents held a fundraiser in Sacramento, California and were able to raise over $100,000 in the 45 minutes between maghrib and taraweeh prayers! So its great to see the entire world pitching in to help our fellow people!
So yeah, count in one more Alvi onto your team 🙂
we completed a 20 km sponsored walk yesterday. we raised a total of 13000 pounds.
