We (Omer Alvie and Dr. Awab Alvi) are pleased to announce the launch of Pakistan’s first and only Blog Aggregator at www.bloggers.pk, a one-stop site to preview what is being said in the Pakistani blogosphere.
It started off as a casual discussion between two chat-buddies which slowly took the shape of a massive effort to bring a simple dream into reality. We had our share of late night sessions not to mention bus loads of bugs, we played with a number of ideas even tested CMS systems like Drupal and reBlog to finally land back to my favourite WordPress, which was spiced up with a handful of useful plug-ins, were we then able to achieve our goal
Our idea was to promote the Pakistani voice to the ever-expanding internet audience and in turn help increase traffic to Pakistani blogs worldwide, we designed our system to aggregate posts made by these bloggers and present on our site only a 50-word summary, the remaining story we considered as an intellectual property and hence strongly felt the need to push the reader directly to the authors website to fully read the entire post and comment on it if needed. In short, Bloggers.Pakistan would like to function as portal mutually benefiting both the reader and the blogger alike.
The technical issues were handled by me, while Omer used if PhotoShop brilliance to lend this site its superb yet pleasing appearance. We have a number of ideas lined up ready to marvel you all in the coming months so hold on and get ready to hear more from us very soon, for now I stand hand-in-hand with Omer Alvie proud to present you Bloggers.Pakistan
