A Life so Cruelly Extinguished

On Aug 4th a very close neighbour of mine Aamir Parekh was crushed to death as a loose Cargo container fell on top of the car he was driving. It was because of a speeding truck which lost control while entering a cross section while coming off a ramp on the bridge. The container was loosely tied onto the flatbed and it simply toppled over crushing both Aamir and his driver killing them instantly.

The sad story was that at the same moment he was also talking to his 13-year old daughter planning for their upcoming vacation the next day, she heard the last dying moments of her father. A post has been made on Karachi Metroblogs but I feel it deserves to be raised over an over again in an attempt to push the relevant authorities to take measures to ensure such incidents don’t happen again. This is the third such incident which I have heard of a similar accident and pray that it can stop now forever, the trucking companies need to be mechanically fit before permitted onto the streets let alone carry a huge container around town.

Aamir Parekh was a close family friend, neighbour and a patient of mine, I remember him as a fun loving light hearted guy and pray to Allah that he be accorded an easy passage into Heaven. Ameen

I would also like to share a touching article written on the same issue in The News – A life so cruelly extinguished by Aroosa Masroor Khan

    Inna Lillah…

It is indeed very very saddening to hear of such a tragic death. May his family be given strength from God, and his blessings. Only if the trauma, the 13 year old child must be going through, be lessened somehow. A moment to stop and re-thing our national roads and traffic situation.

    *sigh*

Inna Lillah, I have to drive everyday on the expressway and all main roads of defence with these dangerous tankers and containers. I always stay behind them never with them. Oh my God how must the family be suffering right now. May Allah give them strength to survive this.

The transport compnay must be sued for this. They should go bankrupt paying the 13 year old daughter. Oh God someone sue these people so it hits them where it hurts.

Forget Suing. These guys should be put on the shooting lines and shot. End of discussion.

Inna Lillah, I felt really bad reading about the tragic death. It reminds us all that life is short and that we can leave this world any day. However i feel that the government should regulate these people to make sure they are accountable and such incidents never happen again.
