Shoaib, The Spit Bull

Shoaib Spit BullCricket Blogger of Pakistan: The Shoaib Akhar saga continues, it seems the most probable reason for his return to Pakistan is the heated discussion he had with Bob Woolmer during the second day of the Second Test Match between South Africa and Pakistan. TV coverage just saw a heated discussion between the two, it then panned out to a delivery and later when the images returned the dressing room was in uproar where cricketers were visibly separating Bob Woolmer and Shoaib Akhtar.

My guess, is that after a ransacking 4 wicket haul on day one by Shoaib Akhtar which started the victory for Pakistan he probably returned to the dressing room and and his overinflated ego came to rub shoulders with the coach who has been against his inclusion into the Pakistan team from day one. In a heated discussion Shoaib Akhtar in his natural idiotic style spat on the coach. It has been my opinion since long that Shoaib Akhtar must be removed from the side, as he is the only rouge character in an otherwise disciplined outfit. He may have the rough boy style bowling which tends to pull a few odd wickets simply because of his ‘Dhasahat Gardi‘ (Gangsta’ism) but honestly is it all worth tolerating this individual.

My opinion is simply to kick his sorry ass out of the team and say good riddance, the penalizing fine of US$2,500 would be probably be a small dent on his pocket but more importantly it will serve as a massive dent on his ego. I was quite happy to see the axe fall when he was found guilty for Nandrolone use, but sadly our so-called ‘independent’ judicial bench outlandishly decided his innocence defending the decision with just a mesmerizing play of words. Within a blink of an eye Akhtar had stepped on enough toes within the PCB to be suddenly declared fit and rushed to partake in the second test match.

A number of our ex-cricketers and even a few bloggers, Omer & Billu & Omer support Shoaib, but whatsoever their analysis maybe, they must understand there is a certain level of indiscipline which surrounds the team when he is included in the side. Inzamam generally commands as a captain fully authority from everyone except Shoaib, how can you expect an incoherent organization to perform regularly when descent lies at every step of the way. Inzamam and Woolmer as coach should be given a freehand in their authority and decisions, as it is these two which will have to take the fall if they fail miserably at the world cup. I am sure Naseem Ashraf would be found crawling under his table god-forbid Pakistan looses as his favoritism and indecisions has kept the Pakistani team on the wrong side of breaking news across the cricketing world literally every month since he assumed office.

i don’t know why the man has been on the team for the past two years. it makes no sense.

He’s been a liability for some time now. I don’t know what will it take to teach Shoaib a lesson in humility, that he is not bigger than the team. Given he is an asset to the side but he continues to make headlines off the field for all the wrong reasons. ‘Excess Baggage’ is what I regard him, kick him out I say! Good Riddance!
