Overdosage of Religiosity !!!!

Cricketers PrayingCricket Bloggers of Pakistan: Seriously will PJ Mir in cahoots with Naseem Ashraf shut up and stop accusing the team for overdosage of religiosity blaming it as the sole reason which lead to the devastation in West Indies.

I remain a moderate Muslim, but was definitely proud to see a good side emerge from within the ranks, this new team was more focused on the task at hand they had melted into a strong unit joined together with the bond of religion. Literally this is a dream come true for any manager or coach no distractions just a concentrated lot of players, no more worries about late night curfew, no more game-time hangovers, no more gambling and more importantly no more issues of discipline. This Pakistan team management only needed to work on keeping their focus on the game and you would have yourselves a winning combination, is that too difficult of a task. OR did Nasim Ashraf desire to lead a party-gone-crazy team which in his logic might lead to relieving pent-up stress as drinking an occasional bottle of Vodka on the rocks is the perfect remedy to better health. I suspect he feels religion is a hindrance to success.

The issue as we all know is not new, as of last October our bearded so-called Muslim PCB Chairman pulled Inzamam over and scolded him for leading the team down the path of religion and praying on the field (last year ECB complained to PCB to request the Pakistani team not to pray on the filed in front of millions of cricket fans – its bad image, PCB humbly acceded and thought it was a crime to warn its captain)

Its quite easy to find fault in everyone else except ones own self. I think Musharraf’s Labrador (Nasim Ashraf) should seriously stand up like a man and accept the blame, take full responsibility of the debacle and work to improve the team, but that’s where his weakness lies, he is weak, as he is simply inserted into this position of power since he is a close friend of Musharraf, and does not come through on merit. Hence a person without merit can never find the balls to accept blame lest he be thrown out and risk loosing the glittering job of being the Chairman of the cricket board, surely an issue not to be taken lightly.

I would not be wrong to say but literally every Pakistani cricket fan feels that Nasim Ashraf bungled up big time and he should go, but if he chooses to stay then he should be a man and stand up rather then run whimpering around the table worried to be kicked out of the job.

    What a shame!!

He didn’t find any other excuse.
I guess the team didn’t let him get drunk.

I feel the team could have done better, but looking at the team I am sure they didn’t give-in to a mere BET.

Pakistanis should kick those sorry asses out of team management.

I gotta disagree doc. The PCB cannot enter the field and play. No matter what the structure of the PCB, it is the team that plays. Our bunch failed at their only job.

The religiousity factor, is a logical question to ask if our cricketers seem distracted from the task at hand. The Pakistani teams of our youth were known for their fighting spirit. Under playboys and party crowds they fought to the last ball and the effort was apparent to us. So even when they lost they lost with honor. This team seems to have no fighting spirit.

In the match against ireland the only people who seemed to be really trying were the bowlers, some of who were playing their first world cup match, and in some cases their first one day international in many years. Why? I would ventire a guess. They were kept out to make room for more religious cricketers who suit inzis sect. Not once during that match did inzi give any advice to any bowler. he stood in the slips and scratched his beard. It was the bowlers who seemed to be giving advice to each other. We scored very little, but they hadn’t score one run. The captain seemed to have no strategy other than to pray ernestly standing in the background.

It is a problem if the team is praying during practice, and lunch breaks, and during international flights. They have made a spectacle of islam. Other people have religions. They don’t make sure you know that. It is also a problem if selections are made based on religious compatability. And I am assuming with great confidence that such was the case with many a selection in this team.

it is the coach’s death who ruined the defeat of pakistan team coz i dont believe inzi as an ex when he was doing really good. losing to ireland is a misfit but inzi wasnt at any point liable to be accused. its inzi who made the team so much optimistic. aside critisim we as nation want to see our team as a religious team praying 5 times. and about him. the Nasim ashraf deserves where he chose to go now!

Rumour is Indian team was also offering prayers behind Inzi before losing the match against Sri Lanka.

I think Inzimam was under tremendous pressure from these ‘roshal khayal’ lot. Explains well his tears and distress.
He is gentle good hearted kind of guy. Are cricketers supposed to play and at the same time carry the added burden of pleasing these ‘enlightened’ folks?

I agree with Teeth Maestro, likes of Nasim Ashraf and PJ Mir must go. Enough of this shameless display of napotism.

I agree with you. Pakistanis are known to blame others when the fault is theirs; not only they don’t accept their failures, they also fail an opportunity to learn and not to repeat again. What Nassim Ashraf is doing is simply playing “religious over-doze” card since it suits the time of “soft image” and with Mush. He should accept the responsibility of his shortcomings – and the fact is that the team’s performance was one of his responsibilities being the Chair of the Board.

And one more thing. Mr Nassim Ashraf has no integrity whatsoever. I know his friends well in US and they say he was known as a Wahabi-oriented man then. What produced the change to the Nassim Ashraf of today (“Nassim Ashraf 2.0”), I don’t know but presented him with a lot of material gains. (Some time back, there was a letter on his Wahabi-thing in DAWN; pls google to find more.)
