I have been observing the politics of karachi with an intent for over a year now. I have realised that the root of all the problems that our city faces is jhalat, be it the 5/12 incident or a normal day to day traffic jam. Most of these problems are man created and one of the major causes for this is the lack of education and common sense.

This Social-Enterprise aims to get rid of this JHALAT that exist by educating the citizens about the problems, K.A.L.H aims to empower youth, by providing them with a platform where they can express themselves. K.A.L.H wants to abridge the gap that exists between the social classes in the city by creating job oppurnities and by trying to get rid of corruption.K.A.L.H would try and improve the infrastructure of the city by educating the citiznes on how to make they most of what they have and by rasing funds for the goverment to improve the infrastructure, not only that K.A.L.H would focus particular attention on the sports and recreational activites. This is going to be a long and trying process, we will need to be patient but once we have achived it , karachi we love is going to be back.

    Dear Teeth Maestro,
Loving Karachi wouldn’t stop the killers, probably the killers loved karachi, too. Be it from MQM or any other party.

We have changed our loyalities from Allah to everything else. Now there are people among us who know and love ‘Altaf’ more than they know and love Allah and similarly their are people among us who love their ethnic clans more than Allah.

I think we should promote love and fear of Allah and this can bind the people of Karachi and the people of Pakistan.

If we keep our loyalities to any one other than Allah, then offcourse Allah wouldn’t like it.

I apologise to Dr Alvi for this intrusion but being the designer of these banners, please let me respond to the gentleman/lady who wrote these comments.

I appreciate your opinion and concerns. However, firstly, I don’t think not only MQM but also anyone else involved in the killing really love Karachi. In my understanding, Love is ever too great and powerful and forgiving as to let go of your false ego, your fears and insecurities. When you say I love Karachi, you are determined to seek every possible way to keep your city healthy, peaceful, good place to live and grow together etc… That’s the idea of Love towards your city, people and country, of course.

Loving Karachi, in my sincerest hopes, will instill a pride among its users to bring about a positive and healthy change and most importantly “tolerance” towards others. The stronger your tolerance level will be, the weaker your enemies’ ambitions and their cruel natures will succumb to the democracy of people and their deepest desire of living happily and freely without any fear.

When I say, I Love Karachi, I make an oath to myself, I make a commitment to myself that I will not let any negative force come between my integrity, my right of freedom and respect and my inalienable right of happiness and the prosperity of my city. That was the general idea, which, thanks to you, have come into words now.

Secondly, on a personal level, I think I’d leave it to individuals on promoting love and fear of Allah, which I don’t deny is stronger and higher force but given the cosmopolitan and diversely populated nature that Karachi is, sort of would alienate those who are not Muslims and yet their lives are equally affected by any change in the city’s socio-political canvas.

though tyrants may command that lamps be smashed
in rooms where lovers are destined to meet,
they cannot snuff out the moon, so today,
nor tomorrow, no tyranny will succeed,
no poison or torture make me bitter,
if just one evening in prison
    can be so strangely sweet,
if just one moment anywhere on this earth.

    Dr Sahib,

Can you start a blog, where people can submit photos through SMS? I wish there was a photo blog where people can submit photos of carnage being done and at the same time they could remain anonymous.

    Thanx.

    Hi,

I am not writing any comment rather asking you guys a favor. I am associated to the Department of Psychology, University of Karachi. Currently, we are conducting an online research that will help understand attitudes and shift in attitudes in different situations. A website, http://www.psychomancy.org has been launched.

Can you people fetch some moments to visit and register (fill the questionnaire) your responses. Average time this questionnaire takes is 20 minutes; however, individual differences may make a difference. Study requires responses from both the sexes (and all genders) from all ethnic groups, with an age bracket of 18-60y, and education above matriculation.

So, please pay a visit and make others as well. I will appreciate if you report bugs, broken links etc.

    Much Thanks.
    Visit please

yes we dont have social conciousness that is a product of proper education. When we are violating a law we think that we are breaking a law; nay that’s wrong, we are breaking ourselves against the law. And imagine into how many pieces we break ourselves in day’s time from traffic jam to sanitation to cleanliness of our environment. Unless we understand it we wont get improved in our daily lives.
