TIME magazine has published a list of 200 people who it thinks are the most influential people in the world today, this list will soon be narrowed down in half and we all get a chance to share our rankings. There are four Pakistanis on the list Musharraf, Kiyani, Prime Minister Gilani and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The interesting thing is on Bilawal Bhutto is faring well and is being ranked at 21 while Musharraf trails on the outskirts of being disqualified at Rank 145, Kiyani further down at 152 while our new Prime Minister Gilani at a pity 161. To vote, click through the provided link which will take you to the specific TIME page where a slider can be used to cast your vote on a scale of 1 (least influential) to 100 (the most)
- PERVEZ MUSHARRAF
AGE: 64
OCCUPATION: President of PakistanPRO: A staunch counterterrorism ally following the events of 9/11, the former army chief has overseen a period of relatively robust economic growth in an extremely troubled area of the world. His willingness, under pressure, to doff the mantle of army chief showed that while he was exigent, he wasn’t tyrannical.
CON: Slain former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s Pakistan Peoples Party accused him of either orchestrating or facilitating her assassination. Crushed under a wave of pro-Bhutto indignation — and loathing from Pakistan’s left and right — his political allies got a sound spanking in the Feb. 18 parliamentary elections, leaving him politically isolated as two hostile factions form a new government. Expect a midnight flight out of town very soon.
- GENERAL ASHFAQ PERVEZ KIYANI
AGE: mid-50s
OCCUPATION: Pakistan Army ChiefPRO: Took the reins of military power from a gelded President Pervez Musharraf last November, and began moving Pakistan’s most stable national institution out of the blast zone of politics…
CON: …though perhaps not quickly enough. Benazir Bhutto’s assassination occurred in Rawalpindi, a fortified army town, further eroding the military’s prestige and sparking rumors of a conspiracy. The new coalition government wants more negotiation with militants in Waziristan, where Pakistani armed forces are attacked by Taliban-allied fighters almost as often as they’re accused of collaborating with them.
- BILAWAL BHUTTO ZARDARI
AGE: 19
OCCUPATION: Oxford student, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party and son of slain leader Benazir BhuttoPRO: Announcing his intention to finish school at Christ Church before entering politics (under Pakistani law, he can’t run for anything until he’s 25), Bhutto Zardari has practically admitted his appointment in the wake of his mother’s assassination was largely symbolic.
CON: His appointment in the wake of his mother’s assassination was largely symbolic. But his Party’s majority control of parliament is very real.
- YOUSAF RAZA GILANI
AGE: 57
OCCUPATION: Prime Minister of PakistanPRO: The day he was sworn in, Benazir Bhutto’s successor as head of the Pakistan Peoples Party called for the release of imprisoned judges — most notably, Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry, whom President Musharraf jailed. Their release will almost certainly hasten Musharraf’s abdication of the presidency.
CON: Jailed for four years in the ’90s on charges that he abused his authority while serving as Bhutto’s premier. And it remains to be seen whether feuds with the PPP’s governing partner, the Pakistan Muslim League of Nawaz Sharif, will be a distraction during already unstable times.
Others on the list – George Bush (Ranked 162), Baithullah Massud (ranked 185)

Bilawal, what can he influence? I am just wondering.
TIME’s authors need to get out of their cubicles more often.
Is it the list of Influentials
or list of HIGLY INFLUENCED
Its not Bilawal, it is Bhuttoism that is influential and that is evident. We the Pakistanis wish he is not influenced by anti Pakistan forces Amin.

Damages of Earthquake and People of Shangla NWFP Pakistan
It was morning of October 8, 2005 when a powerful and devastating earthquake struck the northern part of Pakistan causing major destruction and playing havoc with millions of lives. The affected areas were the Shangla, Mansehra, Bata gram, Kohistan, Abbotabad districts and four districts of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. More than 70,000 people lost their lives out of those 35,000 were children who were attending schools at that time. Most of the civil society infrastructure such as schools, colleges, roads, and hospitals were collapsed and destroyed. The Thousands of Kacha & Pacca dwelling houses are completely demolished, while others are partially damaged which are not fit for further use as these are dangerous and life risk is involved in their further use. Recent devastating earth quake badly affected almost whole population of the District in one or other shape.
The remote district of Shangla consists of scattered populations 554818 divided into tiny, mountain-top hamlets spread out across a vast area. Due the nature of this difficult terrain some areas are difficult to access by road. The number of total households is 53529 and average household size is 8 persons per family. The population density is 341 persons per square kilometer. Total area of the District is 1586 sq-Km (339614 Acres) in which 104672 Acres (31%) is cultivated and 109685 Acres (32 %) is forest. .
Shangla is a backward and tribal society where majority of the people live below the poverty line and are illiterate. Any one can estimate living standard of its people from a report recently issued by the government in which Shangla district was on top in ratio of poverty through out NWFP.
The literacy rate is 14.7% (25.2% in male & 3.7% in female). The government has so far been a big disappointment in changing the socio-economic conditions of the people and in this advanced technological age of the 21st century we are still lacking the basic infrastructure of the basic necessities of life.
District Shangla is full of natural resources like emerald, Marble, Chromites, Soap stone etc and there is a vast scope of investment and development. Similarly the area has a variety of fauna and flora like Markhur, Brown Bear, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Wolf, Pigeons, Monkeys, Chakor, and Dove etc. In flora medicinal plants like Banafsha, Tarkha, Unab, Mushkibala, white Rose and Mint etc are found in the area which are of great importance.
The inhabitants of the Shangla are deprived of basic needs, infrastructure, education, health, road and other facilities. The main road which connects Shangla with Swat and other parts of the country is in a very bad condition and it is difficult to drive over it.
