Pre-occupied with our busy lives we tend to forget the sacrifices of the thousands of people who have courageously risked their lives for the protection of their countrymen. Majority of the victims of the Marriott blast were security officers. CCTV footage showed one brave guard trying to extinguish flames of the truck while knowing that he was putting his life at risk. A few years earlier a police officer stood in the path of a suicide bomber’s car preventing him from attacking Pervez Musharraf. There are too many stories that it might not be possible to mention each one of them.
Let it be known to all those brave men and women, who risk their lives to keep us safe, that as a nation we are thankful for them every minute of our lives:
If I could weave my words
In a laurel for each feat
And for every act of courage
I could place a gilded leaf…
If for every silent offering
You gave in sacrifice,
A wreath of honor could be made–
It never would suffice…
It could never match the gift
You gave with strength and grace,
Or the depth of your commitment
For the freedom we embrace.
If I could weave these words
In an honored, golden wreath,
I’d add each leaf in reverence
Then I’d lay it at your feet…

Well said – lets do honor those who stood their ground and fought ! I also believe we overlook the many police guards that have also perished in such disasters serving their nation. Many died on Oct 18th blast protecting BB’s convoy then again many constables were surrounding her on 27th Dec as well
Lets honor them and lets hope we can inspire more selfless workers to continue to serve their country
Pakistan Salutes You
Thanks Doc!
This is how history works, these people keep giving sacrifices but are rarely remembered. It is good to see at least someone is honoring them.
Only last night I was thinking about his outstanding courage in the face of hostility.
How can we honour such people ,by ensuring this never happens again.

Ahh..How I missed the first comment here, missed the first salute here!
according to Geo New’s Absar Alam 42 people out of 53 who died were security staff and other Marriott employees. May Allah bless them all and make the lives of their dependents easier.
