Today German federal police seized two suspected terrorists from a Dutch passenger aircraft [KL 1804] at Cologne airport shortly before it was due to take off for Amsterdam. Sources say the two suspects were on their way to join terrorists in Uganda and Pakistan.
The suspects were a 23-year-old Somalian identified as Abdirazak and a 24-year old German citizen born in Somalia called Omar were “under suspicion of participating in a jihad action and of possibly planning attacks” and had found farewell letters
Firstly don’t get me wrong but I firmly believe that all terrorists must be apprehended in time and put behind bars well before they have a chance to hurt innocent human lives, but what irks me is when the international media conveniently loops Pakistan into every terror plot
Allow me to explain, the flight that these two suspects were expected to board was a KLM City Hopper flight from Cologne to Amsterdam, which is actually a Fokker 50. This Fokker flight has a maximum carrying capacity of 67 passengers and at full fuel load has a flight range of only 1243 miles, a far cry from Uganda which stands at 3800 miles from Cologne or more importantly Pakistan which clocks in at 3600 miles from Cologne
If these are the actual facts, then one might suspect that it would be physically impossible to reach either one of the two destinations, but as most news agencies still continue to report that Pakistan was a planned destination after hijacking the plane is worrisome, specially for a Pakistan. The only sign of relief comes from Reuters suggesting that the suspects had no concrete plans for hijacking “We still believe we are caught in the cross-hairs of terrorism but there are no indications of concrete preparations for an attack,” – well my question then to the world media is to ask how in the world, did they bring ‘Pakistan‘ into the conversation, might I suspect sensationalization
As a Pakistani, I Object to this form of false reporting by the Main Stream Media it has only tarnished the image of my country, I feel that unless the authorities come up with concrete evidence indicating Pakistan in their great master plan, it would be honorable [?] for the media to issue a courtesy retraction for Pakistan saving us from unnecessary news spin. many may ask, does it matter? For Pakistan it must, as we don’t need yet another unnecessary flame war tarnishing the already tainted image of our country simply based on false reporting, we have enough problems as it is

Western media is muzzle and doesn’t show truth. Its a tool for propaganda against Muslims, Islam and Pakistan which was created in the name of Islam, no other country in the world being created in the name of Islam so west doesn’t want Pak to be an Islamic state and wanna distorted PK image by its malevolent propaganda/policies.
Do all terrorists lead to Pakistan? No, rather All terrorists lead to Germany which is home of obstreperous Muslim minorities like ATTA remember, He was the ringleader of so-called 19 hijackers of 9/11 attacks and these attacks were orchestrated in Germany not in Afghanistan neither in Pakistan and Taleban knew nothing about it. Yet, they’ve been boomed from 2 sides of border just bcuz of harboring OBL.
The war we are fighting inside our country which hasn’t been decided yet whether its our own war or US war we are fighting for either reason its consequences will effect entire country and bring inferno like Marriott.
In the name of Fight against Terrorism these civilized countries are loosing ‘once’ fair judicial system. Now there rules are changing day by day.
Muslims can now be punished for a crime not committed, just based on ASSUMED INTENTIONS.
What brought prosperity to these countries and what brought immigrants to these counties was a fast and relatively fair judicial system, which they are loosing day by day….
ever been to germany anyone of u? it is among the better countries when it comes to dealing with muslims. ive lived there three years and admire the german police’s intelligence of catching many people with fairly good accuracy unlike the US where cops dont even treat muslims well.

one thing to keep in mind that the media does not necessarily work out of well planned malice, but usually with lazy incompetence instead. most channels and papers just copy their stories off the wires, sometimes attributing them as well. often they try to change it up a little bit so as to not look so stupid. since there are three only major wire sources in the world, even if one of them infers something about pakistan, most copyeditors would just go with it cuz it gives the story a ‘hook’- otherwise its just boring.
you have to understand that modern day humans work according to simple labels and what we call stereotypes. its like how every foriegnor in our country is referred to as a “gora” even though they may not always be white, and its tupid to label a billion people like that. but its simple and we do it. similarly, for the “goray” terrorism comes from where al-Qaeda is, which seems to be Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
it sucks to be pigeon holed this way, but lets protest it like the dr. sahib, rather than reach for conspiracy theories, which doubtless we will do so anyway

Why are you objecting? I seem to recall that you felt it perfectly normal for media to lay out information as they see fit, and for the people to sift through it and decide what is or is not true. In case you have forgotten, allow me to jog your memory:

This a quote from a comment you left on my blog last year. Let individuals decide on their own if their reporting is right or wrong. Wasn’t that your stand? Or does that only apply to Media in Pakistan?
