In a stunning revelation it seems the Army has successfully foiled a bid to assassinate General (R) Pervaiz Musharraf by none other then the killer of Daniel Pearl. Omar Sheikh has been imprisoned in Hyderabad Central Jail and was allegedly running a campaign to stalk and kill Musharraf either in Karachi or Islamabad.
What was shocking to read that when the authorities cleaned up his jail cell they discovered three mobile phones, six batteries, 18 SIMS of almost every cellular company and various mobile chargers.
The jailed murderer had reportedly called Musharraf in the second week of November and had threatened him “I am after you, get ready to die.” Subsequent investigations by the authorities revealed the threatening phone call was made by someone from the Hyderabad Central Jail. Being a suspect, Omar Sheikh was placed under observation before it transpired that he was the one who had threatened the former strongman.
Personally I am glad that this attempt did not cause any bodily harm to General Musharraf but I am astonished that such a high profile prisoner had access to mobile phones and various other utilities to be able to run a successful network even while imprisoned in a high profile jail cell – read more at Geo

I mentioned Sheikh Omer on my earlier posts and this is exactly why – these Islamists are a national security risk and should have been dealt away with as soon we juice out the information from them. Thanks Allah, Mushraff is safe and sound.

However I would like to take this oppertunity to respond to the questions you have posed at me:

Yes he is retired General,Coas and Ex.President of Pakistan ,that is why I think we need him more.There is no replacement of experience ,exposure and maturity.
There is difference between a general and an outstanding general .He out-manouvered USA and European Coalation.
He saved Pakistan and averted the war.The targets were both Afghanistan and Pakistan.He saved one ,Pakistan.
He can better negotiate and handle pressure in negotiations with USA over Kashmir,over Afghanistan.For if he is incharge USA and India will know they are dealing with a man who understands territory and strategic importance of areas.They know he speaks less and would do more.
USA and India will be under constant pressure to try to understand his strategy.

He is highly controversial.Quite understandable ,he drew a line between Terrorism and Islam.No other leader in the Islamic world had the guts to stand against USA and Europe and explain,all muslims are not Terrorists.Islam is a peaceful religion and we would defend Islam and peace.

When Gen.Zia died in plane crash,many amicable Generals died with him.Many people were happy that oh! a dictator has died.
What a loss it was for Pakistan and Afghanistan.We are still paying the price.All the strategy makers for Afghanistan and Afghan Mujahedeen was cut off.No one was available to persue the case of Afghanistan with USA.USA got away with abandoning Afghan Mission and the country was further driven into caos.
Rise of Talibaan,if Gen Zia or rest would have been alive we would have seen a better version of Talibaan.Al-Qaeda would have not emerged and the whole history would have been different.
We need Musharaff.If he is not safe in Pakistan ,Rest of the world is ready to provide this protection.I do not think he should risk his life for unthankful people.
