NADRA is charging Rs.50 for folks who lost/misplaced or had their cards destroyed in the process of fleeing their homes. The provincial government, district government, civil society and individual citizens are doing all they can to feed, house and clothe these IDPs.
The federal government charges them Rs.50 for their Identification Cards. Call your MNA, Senator, Uncle, or Auntie, call anybody and everybody you can, and tell them how outrageous this is. NADRA should stick to making money on contracts from foreign governments (as it does when it mass produces machine readable passports for other countries). This software house financed by the taxpayer should not be charging IDPs for a document that is a human and constitutional right in Pakistan.
It is indeed a sad situation that the government has the audacity to charge anything so as to merely get verified and be able to get relief aid to feed their families – this is criminal

Lol. Who said NADRA is "government" ins. They are private (semi, or whatever). They gotta earn. Typical supply/demand rule. What's the big deal? It's asking them to donate their "revenue" sources!! How many of us would donate our business "revenue streams"??? Heh.
Asim I disagree – if its a semi-govt / private entity – maybe the Pak govt could be sensitive to ensuring a subsidized [read free] for effectees – since the problem is that FOOD is dispersed ONLY if you have an ID card – that is through offical channels – the govt has made verification mandatory to be 'registered in camps'

While I believe it is outrageous to charge anything to IDP, i do want to point out that maybe it could be a way to discourage people who are just trying to obtain duplicate ID cards and we do need to account for the resources that are being utilized over there. The simple fact remains that mobilizing the resources in an already deprived nation will have a cost that the government will never bear and in the end be incurred by the people, whether we consider it to be a fair practice is a different matter
This is outrageous. Even if they are trying to discourage people who try to get duplicate cards this practice can not be justified. Being a Pakistani citizen has become such a pain. While our Government is off visiting foreign lands, our people are suffering in camps, our citizens are held with no charges made in UK etc. etc. No wonder people are doing whatever they can to get out of here.
That’s height of stupidity! Whether NADRA is a private, semi govt. or a govt. organization, they should think (if someone has a brain in that organization) what they are doing with these IDPs. We should help them right away rather than thinking of making money.

Well during the earthquake, some people were looting and taking all the aid while others werent getting anything. If these people dont have ID cards then they need to have some form of identification.
Plus why would you want to give aid to foreign terrorists who have shaved their beards and are moving into other cities. Its simple, you need an ID and only one way to do it… thats where NADRA comes in. Theyre not govt controlled so theyre helping people by making someone available to make temp IDs. Stop whining.
There is every thing upside down in this Pakiland. They do not differentiate between a service and a revenue head. I remember in early 70's they were charging only Rs.25.00 for ordinary Passport. It was the ZAB who thought of extracting revenue from Dubai-Waalas and so made this service head as a revenue head by enhancing the passport fees. So the so called good governance has started taxing people through the services which it was its duty to provide free or at least not a revenue earning taxing activity.
Well, this whole thing is business oriented, so why just cry out against Nadra?
Army getting money for shelling out people of Swat. Every time they use an artillery shell, they charge US for 10 of these shell. Out of this, Zardari gets his share, so does Rehman Dakait, So does Altaf Hussain and so does Kiyani and other top brass of Army.
So what the hell if NADRA is doing this?
As the topic related to NADRA baji. Please comment on expiring of NICs. What is the big idea behind this except earning. and there is no logic seen tenure of expiry. two cards which are issued merely with a difference of one month, one card has an expiry date of 2008 and and the other has 2016. And interesting thing is that you have go through the whole process of finger prints, photo shoot,etc. When asked that don't NADRA already have these things the answer was "KOI PATA NAHEEN". If one NADRA has to invent the wheel every time then why the BS of database and this and that?

Thanks for pointing out an important issue on your blog. Let me clarify that there is no fee for IDP registration. The people in IDP camps are eligible to get free of cost ID cards. Strict disciplinary action will be taken against NADRA employee who demands for any fee from IDPs. NADRA has deputed a lot of Mobile Registration Vans (MRVs) which are parked and/or moving in the effected registering and delivering ID cards free of cost. The snapshot is misleading as it shows a reciept of NADRAs electronic application called eSahulat which is available in various parts of Pakistan for citizens to verify a citizens credentials as to whether the person is legal citizen of Pakistan or not (to combat Identity fraud). It appears that the friends and relatives of IDP living in other parts of Pakistan are using these machines (not located in IDP camps) helping to verify ID cards of IDPs so that they can get speedy services. IDPs must contact MRVs and designated NADRA centers located nearby camps to get free services. I have issued strict instructions for adherence to this policy.”
poor Pakistanis… i regret to say that before 1947 we were a nation without a country.. but now we have it and lost the nation.. our Govt is getting overwhelming help in the shape of dollars and a lot of other things. but Govt should have an eagle eye on the proper utilization of the amount they are getting.. this is also fact that when the earthquake hit Pakistan probably in 2005. we got huge support in the form of dollars/pounds.. some says that we can even build a new city with those money.. but regrettably the utilization was pathetic.. and the people are like "sone pe suhaga."

We are still Muslims, but followers of Ghulam Kafir Qadiani were never muslims and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto should get credit passing that bill through the democratic assembly.
This is a sad situation but u know we should not reach to the conclusion immediately as we always do. The person in the video is missing his original id card and as I believe registration of IDP's require original id card. Probably this is the reason due to which verification of id card has been demanded by registration authorities. There is another important aspect of this registration and that is transparent disbursement of the relief goods(cash/noncash) that are coming in from international/local donor’s. To have an effective and accountable disbursement system it has to be backed by id card as its the only way we can identity and help needy people. In this situation of crises I would urge you all to act wisely, stand united and not fall prey to any misleading information. IDP's needs our support and help.
