We Bite Cricket Balls to Win Matches – Shahid Afridi

As if the morale of the Pakistani nation could not be taken to another embarrassing lowest point on earth. Shahid Afridi was caught on TV actually biting the cricket ball, aka tampering to help his bowlers win matches. The 3rd umpire, Ranjan Madugalle caught the irregularity and instructed his on field umpires to confiscate the ball.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOhG-_elQow

After the match, Afridi was called into a hearing with the match referee Ranjan Madugalle immediately after the match. Afridi pleaded guilty to the charge admitting to have tampered the ball but added that the practice was common among all teams.

“I shouldn’t have done it. It just happened. I was trying to help my bowlers and win a match, one match, There is no team in the world that doesn’t tamper with the ball. My methods were wrong. I am embarrassed, I shouldn’t have done it. I just wanted to win us a game but this was the wrong way to do it.”

The umpires have served him with a two 20-20 match ban, but I believe the Pakistan Cricket Board must take this into serious attention and serve a definite response, these representatives of the nation of Pakistan cannot and should not tarnish the image of a nation by publicly cheating, how can we be sure they haven’t done so in the past or will not engage in other forms of sporting corruption.

As if we weren’t already embarrassed enough with having a crook like Zardari running our country, we now have to face the world’s torment of labeling Pakistanis as sporting cheats. I am sorry, if someone cheats, regardless if he might be the super star of cricket in Pakistan, he must be simply expelled…. but sadly reality is that our country is brimful of one embarrassing example after another, be it politics or cricket, literally where do you start….

I think we should see his love for the Team, Nation. He was doing his best to win atleast one match so we dont face such a big shame a clean sweap or whitewash etc ………..I think this is nothing bigger than that but the problem is we are so busy in our life and work that we have forgotten our respect for our country . Afridi I salute you, I appreciate your work, whatever you did for the team thats unforgetable.

u r an idiot. winning by cheating? you morons are the biggest cheats and liars. is this what your religion teach u??????????

Blasphemy against Green Colour and Cheating – Ball Tampering.

He said that the Pakistan team had started to perform poorly since its players were now wearing cricket shoes with green coloured soles. Green is the colour of Pakistan and of Islam and its being forcibly rubbed on the ground is a derogatory act. Hence the divine retribution. [Aamir Liaquat Hussain]

As if we needed any more bad press. Incidents like these should be an example of by giving out harsh punishments. What a disgrace, especially after he'd done so well to help us win the 20-20 world cup!

We are a Paky nation, don't forget! As the mullah says our sins can be washed away just by performing 'woozoo' (ablution for namaaz) and we have fool-proof method of washing away our greatest sins by performing 'Hajj'. So we are pak-citizens of the Paki-land.

As regards biting the cricket ball by Shahid, it is no sin at all as playing cricket is itself a sin: Ask Dr. Israr and Zakir.

As for losing the matches 'cleen-sweep',what do you expect from a team the captain of which is a sweeper-turned-musalli, when Allah clearly says in Sura Ma'un 'Weililmusalleen' (Barbadi he musallioin ke lie).

    • Sport is not about religion |

You morons who rave on about religion and your sins able to be washed away – what crap. Afridi is a cheat – full stop! And any of you Paki’s who hide behind your faith to excuse what he did, or any of your other ‘sins’, are morons. Grow up and behave like human beings with respect for one and all.

Ball eater afridi is giving excuses to his nation who for the last week were abausing Indians on IPL issues.

I think his acts proved who is right or wrong in this ganme of making money.

Like our nation , our players are also showing declining trends of moral values in sport culture too.

I dont think so he did all this for Pakistan.

His reflexes forced him to do so as it is his inbuilt desire to go for victory that would turned them millionaire in one day.

So where the money plays importance in Pakistan culture, we start loosing our self respect and moral values wihtout knowing its importance in long term ,solid professional life.

      Dear Ms Nazia,

Long time age Pakistan Cricket Team had a very thorough Gentleman Mr. Muaddasir Nazar [used to opening batsman] who use to leave the pitch whenever given out by the umpire without even a single gesture of arrogance and he was so honest that often [when he is out] without even seeing the umpire's sign that he is out, used to leave the pitch and same was the case with Mr. Mohsin Khan, Mr. Majid Khan, Mr Haneef Mohammad, Mr. Iqbal Qasim.

Cricket is only allowed if you wear a long white, shirt-like garment, called a Thobe [Traditional Arabic Dress for Male] and if not possible then Kutra Shalwar or Paijama and Kurta. Because Tracksuit is not decent enough.

Cousin of Imran Khan and Former Pakistan's Cricket Team Captain Mr Majid Khan was a thorough gentleman and a very devout person used to offer Regular Salat and Observe Fasts [Soom] even during Test Matches but he never showed off his Religion like the present lot, many Cricket Players [Maestros] were Religious and devoutly pious e.g. Abdul Qadir, Iqbal Qasim but never showed off their piety.

Showing Off Piety in Islam is abhorred

    Interpretation of the meaning:

Say: I am only a mortal like you. My Lord inspireth in me that your Allah is only One Allah. And whoever hopeth for the meeting with his Lord, let him do righteous work, and make none sharer of the worship due unto his Lord. [AL-KAHF (THE CAVE) Chapter 18 – Verse 110]

On the authority of Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) in a marfoo' form, the following Qudsi narration: "I am Independent of all the partners (ascribed to me). Whoever performs a deed while associating partners with Me, I will leave him and his Shirk." [Sahih Muslim]

It is reported that the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said: "Of the things which I fear for my Ummah, the thing which I fear most is minor Shirk. Then he was asked about minor Shirk, and he said: "It is ar-riyaa.

On the authority of Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri (ra ), in a marfoo' form, it is reported: "Shall I not tell you what I fear for you more than Al-Maseeh Ad-Dajjaal?" They replied: "Yes." He (saas ) said: "It is hidden Shirk such as when a person stands in prayer and he improves his prayer when he knows that others are watching." (Narrated by Imam Ahmad)

Allah's Messenger Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) informs us in this Hadith that he worries for his Ummah and fears for them Al-Maseeh Ad-Dajjaal, but that more than this, he fears for them hidden Shirk, which is riyaa`; this is because the danger of Al-Maseeh Ad-Dajjaal is confined to a specific time, while the danger of riyaa` is present at all times and in all places and because riyaa` is hidden and its power of seduction is great and it is difficult to free oneself from its grip. In addition, it leads to showy, ostentatious behaviour, self-glorification, self-promotion, all of which appeal to the weaknesses in man.

Islam and its real concepts of life about a Muslim community have only been restricted to such examples which you have quoted above. In practical or routine life you will hardly seen any thing like that around your Muslim community.

Even our sheiks of Arabs who are custodian of house of Lord never followed such golden principles.

In holy cities the control of religious places are still under control of particular castes of Arabs and it is not even transferred to other Muslims living in different regions.

If you see Christians have almost followed these principles and successfully rehabilitated system of equality as mentioned in Quran in their social circles successful.

So we Muslims still lack such quality of life that can bring us into status of a real momin.

We south Asians are also on this tracks and faraway from this targets of reaching toward classless society where a noble should be known and respected through his acts, not by his illegitimate money or feudal power or any kind of high status.

Reading lord character is throwing his anger on poor soul of Yousaf and clearly ignoring the elite class of PCB that are running this PCB on short term basis to generate more money in less time.

He didnt mention the name of Dr Nassem ashraf a kidney specialist,Gen tauqeer Zia( martial law administrator of cricket) or Ijaz butt(babe cricket) who specially left US and their professions for unqualified job and destroyed all kind of true professionalism of sport for their personal gains.

Yes mughal I know that through gentle man madussar nazar s/o nazar mohammed.

You might dont know about his fahter that once he was dating with noor jehan at late night hours in her first flour house. Then by chance or bad luck Noor jehan's husband I think rizvi returned back to home.Due to his unexpected return nazar mohd made an emergency jump from first floor and broken his legs so badly and ended his career in cricket

So I think after seeing the high down fall of his father mudassar decided to be a fair man without any gesture of arrogance after seeing his horrible parental experience.

If you need further enlightened information about mohsin khan, and little brothers etc, I am ready to display but sorry I have no solid reference like you as these were told to me by my elders.

Why blame Muddasar's Father. We owe our "Victory" in 1965 War to Madam Nur Jahan [May Allah have mercy on her soul, Amen].

I was just talking about Cricket Ground not about the bedroom:) LOL. They are allowed to be randy and kinky in their private bedroom and in the bedrooms of others [provided other allow them]:).

Very unfortunate act from Shahid Afridi. I had expected better from a fighter like him. I fail to understand why he thought he could do it without being caught. There are so many cameras showing the match from many angles, that it is very difficult to avoid being caught – especially when using the teeth to alter the condition of the ball.

How can it be different? Our leaders, the army, business men etc. are indulged in crimes. Time and again it is shown that crime pays, so everyone is trying their "luck".

Btw…Is Shahid Afridi the new "Teeth Maestro" ? LOL.

  • Aus#1 |

I like how some people are defending what Afridi did because it got them close to winning the match. Hahahaha…

He's a cheat and should never be allowed to captain the team again.

I am not blaming mudassar's father but just depicting an example that we all keep a sinful attitude inside us but it is moral values of our surroundings and law abiding environment of our system that raises our moral and character standard with the passage of time within defined limits.Vice versa if we have opposite trends of devaluing of principles and dishonesty , our national characters would show us same attitude

At the time of mudasar, we had much better moral values but as soon as typical gamblers like Ijaz malik, saleem khan or some characterless personalities like Imran and waseem had come to led team, there was start of decline of standard of our sports men on our soil.Last nail was put in this coffin by Musharaf team who for their interest highly politicized this PCB as big money business is involved in it .

So our victory of world cup under Imran khan was just a big fluke or Pakistani poor might have got modern shaukat khanam hospital due to this victory.

So afridi just showed us trends of his institutions and his seniors.

Yousuf is a very submissive person and we should not accept him some high profile decision .

This PCB now is under control of corrupt mafia whose only interest is money that is why we only see victory scale and ignoring quality of cricket for many years.

Why are you Pakistanis cowards? You bite balls to win matches, you slip in your guys with guns in the darkness of the night to shoot down unarmed men women and children, you stealthily infiltrate foreign territory (Kargil) when no ones looking. And to top it all you deny everything. A nation of cowards, nothing more

  • Nazia |

    Saket

who told you we are cowards??

We bite balls in front of 26 cameras, thousand of public and not in dark hours.

We never preferred to attack on unarmed people but your all border forces sleep early and give way to intruders to breach your high secure areas.Instead of seeing your weakness, you start cursing your neighbors.

if you don't believe then watch the activities of OUR local terrorists in Sri lanka attack or on 28 Dec in Karachi.

they were courageously completing their mission in day light in front of CCTV camera and thousand of Law enforcing agencies.

In Kargil performance you have supplied too much brandy to your soldiers for keeping them warm in harsh weather, intoxication is the basic reason of ignoring their duty as watch guards. So this way our tibiti and baltistani dare soldiers who had no such luxury as you had from their bosses, got an easy route there as a routine exercise to keep them warm and active in difficult area.

so your all claims are rejected on the basis of our recognized daring practice .

Absolutely no doubt that we have been jerks about our own security on a 1001 occasions and we continue to refuse to learn

What amazes me is your opinion on what real bravery is – Perhaps that is how most of your country thinks. You should reach out to the Afridis and Kasabs in your country and let them know that if nothing else, 'they have been brave'

      May god bless your country

there is a easy way to stop humiliation associated with the character and performance of the pakistani cricketers.

hang them all along with board chairman Aijaz along with his heavy duty "butt".after aijaz butt and ever present waseem bari.

Hang them all or send them in wazeersitan.

    or

only those cricketrs should be allowed to play cricket who can run faster than bullet. Ask them to dodge the bullets and open the machine gun fire.

My suggestions are the serious suggestion people should consider those.

This is not mistake done by fresh a cricketer.

He is an armature and knows all pron and cons well than other players.

It comes in criminal act and should be punished.

We as a nation should accept our blunders timely and pay it in the form of punishment.I think accepting punishment at an early stage of mistake is like a timely ablution for washing sins.

So we should first develop our courage to accept our transgression as repentance and then go to pay back in good times, other wise system of natural justice is activated by Almighty Allah which is irreversible, accurate and extremely lesson learning.

What i dont understand here is why some people comenting on this issue in the religious context? He cheated-period. What it has to do with Islam is beyond me. As it was shown on the tv that how many other famous cricketers have done ball tempering, i dont remember anyone mentioning their religious faith so why afridi's? Think before you write people….tch

  • Nazia |

    Saket

As you acknowledge your mistakes so I feel no embarrassment of accepting that we Muslims are very emotional nation who is even ready to cross all limits of humanity for securing our faith.

I have really seen the power of religious brain wash and in our slogan of Allah Akbar that our people are even ready to give up their life for safeguarding their faith.

It is extremity of our faith that master minded of religious maneuvering picked our generation as platoon of suicidal bombers.

You had seen some glimpses of our faith in 1965 and 71 wars where our soldiers willingly had lied down in front of Indian tanks by wrapping sheet filled grenades.

It is not an easy scene to replay that a young healthy man blow him into 100 parts just for securing his faith.

So it is job of leaders to use this power of faith towards positivity but as usual muslim leadership and their money have been misused of channelizing our faith like blowing machines.

You have seen only one kasab, but for last 5 years here we had thousands of Kasabs who destroyed our image in whole world by blowing themselves on soft targets .

So we are on victim scale and as a nation are at lost too .

I feel that our cricket is headed by Butt. Now these butts are everywhere in Pakistan i.e. PCB whose chairman name is Butt now you can imagine how sordid-stinkers they are who think from their butts instead of mind.

Regarding afridi act who was already in tension due to not elected for IPL now Oz whitewash em. I will suggest him to bite butts instead of C-ball.

Our team is best reflection of our govt and our public full of butts. Kick their butts b4 they kick your butts
