A number of people have been echoing a sentiment that Pakistanis around the world over must join hands in the form of a peaceful protest to condemn this mockery of our judicial system. We would like to categorically state that this protest WILL NOT carry any type of political affiliation, and will remain impartial as to who is right or wrong but we would like join hands to protest the way bureaucrats have destroyed the integrity of our judicial system.
A campaign of this magnitude must genuinely be a combined effort and cannot and should not be an individual effort, so I issue out a call to everyone willing to join us in this peaceful protest, if you are willing then please step forward.
The title of the campaign is
WHITE BAND FOR JUSTICE
……….powered by Proud Pakistanis
We choose to use the White Band, as it signifies purity and justice while the latter part of the slogan is essential as it evokes national pride and patriotism, a core value which has for sometime disappeared from the emotions of all Pakistanis. Its time to bring Patriotism back into Pakistanis.
To join this cause all you need to do is be proud to be a Pakistani.
A few things that need to be done (the list will remain constantly updated so check back often)
- The domain name Proud-Pakistani.com is ready and available to become the hub of our activity
- We need to design a few White ribbons, that can be used on websites and other places
- We need to design the website at Proud-Pakistani.com
- We need to organize the list of volunteers and assign them tasks
- We need to start promoting the concept online as widely as possible
- We need to plan an online protest date where everyone can display this White Band to support the integrity of the Judicial System in Pakistan
- We need to also start a mailing list once things get rolling until then you can drop me an email at drawab@gmail.com
Is that too much to ask from a Pakistani. Step forward and help the cause, this blog shall always remain

Awab:
I am in. I really like and appreciate your idea of setting up a website called ‘Proud Pakistani’. However, don’t you think it would be prudent to wait till the 13th when the SJC verdict comes out and then protest? Or is this a protest against the President’s decision to file a reference against the CJ? After all, technically he is well within his powers to do that. I would like your opinion on that. Also, if I can show any kind of support to this movement on my blog I would love to do so. Thanks.
I understand your point, we have not launched as yet and remain in organizational phase – (Beta Launch). Lets get people on board and ready,
Our protest should be basically how the judicial system was made a mockery not if he was right or wrong. Thats would then be taking sides? But i understand your point let other give a feedback as well…..
Salute you DOC
Will catch again with details. Right now the breaking news is :
Latest news is that Ch Iftikhar has said that he will NOT resign at all
( by Adnan )
and from my side :
Chairman Bar Counsel has appealed all the Judges of Supreme Court to resign
Hello there,
Personally I’m in and currently in talks with my friends and if they agreed will join your protest with our entire 2,600+ strong community.
This is with reference to the comments by HAKIM above.
President Musharraf’s move itself is unconstitutional because:-
(i) The President has suspended the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), which he cannot do.
(ii) Under the Constitution of Pakistan, the President does not have the power to remove or suspend the CJP without the approval of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), which comprises of (a) the Chief Justice of Pakistan; (b) the two next most senior Judges of the Supreme Court; and (c) the two most senior Chief Justices of High Courts.
(iii) The President can, at best, send a reference to the SJC against the SJC. The SJC then conducts an inquiry and then submits its recommendations to the President. Only, then can the President proceed against a judge – either suspending him or removing him.
(iv) The constitution of the Supreme Judicial Council itself is unconstitutional because even if the CJP himself is being inquired, then, by virtue of Article 209(3), the next senior-most Judge of the Supreme Court shall act in his place on the Supreme Judicial Council.
(v) Supreme Court Judge Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal has been appointed as Acting Chief Justice whereas he is NOT the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court after the CJP. Mr. Justice Rana Bhagwandas is the senior-most Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan after the CJP. So the Supreme Judicial Council is not properly constituted.
(vi) Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is still the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the constiution of the SJC is violative of Article 209(3) of the Constitution.
Mr. Azam, did I read this right: the President cannot suspend the CJP without the approval of the CJP? Isn’t that a contradiction?
awab can you create some image banner like you did for Don’t block the blog?
Is there anyway that you can highlight this PROUD PAKISTANI in paper media so that policitians and dictator can learn that we ordinary pakistanis are against such cruel decision?
In reply to AH, what I said was:
“the President does not have the power to remove or suspend the CJP without the approval of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC)”
i am distressed
Mr. Azam,
True. However, you also wrote that the CJP is also a member of the SJC. So, does he recuse himself when then President tables a motion to suspend him? Since his job is on the line, why would he do that?
Doc saahab, gimme your number. I need to talk to you ASAP. Or call me at 0321-557-04-37.
Are there any dates for this protest decided as yet?
