For the past few days a specific gut wrenching video has been making its way around the Pakistani web-sphere which shows a Pakistani Army Major conducting an interrogation of two people suspected of harboring Talibans. During the Question and Answer session the Major steps back and orders his crew to ruthlessly beat the person punching, kicking and whipping the suspects, who scream in pain and writhe on the ground. The 10-minute video is at best deliberately being shot (but is seemingly concealed away from the spectators) to record the entire interrogation, that goes to suggest that such treatment is a norm within the Army and should not be treated as a one off random affair. Sadly this inhumane treatment dealt out by this officer of the Pakistan Army makes me also want to fight back against these ruthless uniformed personnel. Such actions I consider as blatant human rights violation and the Army must be held accountable for such treatment, and not treat this as a one-off incident
Dawn.com reports that the Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said ‘the army was investigating the alleged abuse’, but declined further comment Friday. Pakistan’s poorly trained and underfunded security forces have long been accused of human rights abuses.

Explanation :-
ARMY(a) are all semi literate village students who cant afford hi-5 private colleges and universities like us and barely make it to matriculation/inter. Their parents send them to ARMY as thats the only cheapest and honorable job available to them since the feudal structure in INTERIOR Pakistan doesn't allow development for the creation of other job opportunities.
ARMY(b) are all above but studied in city (therefore greater activeness and parallel psychological development) students whose parents are usually (not always) middle class and lower/upper middle class job-oriented people whose future is always a BIG QUESTION mark. ARMY offers them an honorable and cheap investment whose benefits are well known.
During their period from captaincy to colonelship they stray firmly patriotic (again we are talking about majority here) and do well at their position to serve the country.
While they are colonel they get a glimpse into POWER CORRIDORs and while they are not always part of the POWER game at upper level they very much see things happening.
ARMY(c) is where the POWER CORRIDORs begin and here is where they start believing as if they are (should be) A PLAYER in POWER. This belief goes stronger and stronger with time till they become GENERALz and the rest is histor.
Over the years this culture has turned our ARMY into a CLASS and not just an ARMY (technically) and now this class tries to protect its species by hook or crook. The MIND-SET that they are a class needs to be broken.
Video is indeed disturbing however war is a dirty business. Most of these poor souls are suspects – a typical catch22 situation….
Referring to that video floating on internet nowadays. I have told many friends not to share this video because it will make people hate Army and police. First of all the location, date and time of that video is not confirm. Secondly, these people are involved in heinous crimes which me and you can't even think of, rape 7 years old girl, bury girls alive, rape, murder, torture, marrying 20 women at the same time, marrying 13 years old girl and the list goes on and on and on. If someone wants to protest against the brutality even till today, do it and demand the missing person to date. DONT YOU THINK protest for the release of Afia Siddqui or demand her fair trail in Pakistan makes more sense? Don't you think demanding and protesting the return of Pakistani prisoners to date in Guantanamo bay makes more sense. I would love to meet the organizers of this protests asap and ask them these questions. Because by not doing a protest we are not damaging anyone as much as we do when we come on roads when it is not worth it.

@ In response to Abro, yesterday Liyari was at war whole day, and since last few weeks someone I know very well is receiving death threats from a gang operate in liyari, still I wouldn’t say that operation is justified in Liyari.
My point is when we go to these areas we visit places as tourist, I personally visited many police stations in rural areas, interior and talked to prisoners, they were extremely comfortable telling me that they raped 7 years old who died and they killed someone because they took revenge of their father who was killed 20 years back.
I never said the victims in the video have committed all those crimes. I am the one who said unless we are sure about the source, place and timing of the video it is not appropriate to hold something serious like a protest based on it.

THE cases of the missing persons that Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry had been pursuing with vigour before he was unseated in March 2007 have now been virtually erased from public memory. The trauma of the families of those who have ‘disappeared’ no longer receives the media publicity it once did or the attention of the courts. The HRCP claims that the matter still tops its agenda. True, a lot was achieved from 2005 to (February) 2007 when of the 400 missing persons listed by the HRCP 240 had been traced. Now the list is said to contain 198 names of which 99 have been located. But even a single missing person who cannot be produced by the authorities under the law should be enough to make activists worry. It is not a case of violation of human rights alone. There is also the agony of the missing person’s family that is distressing.
To my surprise, most here are supporting those faggot Taliban, considering them innocent and perhaps naming them Masoom Khan. I have queries Sir, First tell me, Isn't there a war going on against Anti Pakistan Forces? On what ground you want Pakistan Army to perform duty as they are on drill? Why most of you can't see that these Taliban are getting funds from India? questions for supporters of pakistan's "own" "war" on "terror":
1. If this is your war, why are you taking military and non-military assistance, aid, $$$$ from america and whining like dying unfed puppies that no compensation has been paid for soldiers killed in this war, and that financial & military losses are not being sufficiently compensated for? Apnee jangaeyn apnay resources seh laree jatee haeyn aur marnaeyn walouwn keh leeyay compensation naheen claim kee jatee. Why does the American taxpayer pay for your soldiers, equipments etc.? Are the American taxpayers such idiots that they will pay for "your" war?
2. Who is going to pay for "your" war once the Americans pack up and depart from Afghanistan (a few years down the road, or perhaps sooner)? With no end to this war in sight, can Pakistan's collapsing economy afford this so-called battle of survival (survival not of the country but of a failed rotten collapsing system and the elite class seeking to prop it up on lended [american] crutches)? Once your masters are defeated, where will the $$$ flow in from???
3. Why do you misappropriate sacred terminology like "shaheed" for describing people:
a. who die fighting only because their superiors ordered them to fight, and NOT out of religiously inspired conviction with no other worldly reason in mind except to please Allah (swt).
b. who fight simply because its their "profession"; with the objective being to safeguard their careers, secure their present job and future pension
your shaheeds remind me of the kargil war, when the indian media used to honour India's dead by calling them shaheed, thus taking the term out of its sacred context altogether and framing it in a secular nationalistic concept (as if the word shaheed means a pakistani passport holder who dies fighting while wearing a uniform)
i won't say they died fighting for america, they have not been brainwashed enough yet that they will sacrifice themselves at the altar of this false god if they had the brains to understand the reality of this war. These poor fellows (and i genuinely feel sorry for them) are doing it for salary's sake, if they were not paid salaries for a few months, or asked to fight "your" war without any pay, benefits, pensions, plots etc. they would desert the army en masse.
4. If this is "your" war, why are all the American officials, NATO, British officials etc. giving you a pat on the back for conducting swat operation? Why are they so pleased with you? (And the Jews and Christians will never be pleased with you unless you follow their way -Al Quran)
5. Lastly, if you really believe this is your war, pick up a G3 or an AK and go fight instead of ranting in cyberspace? Why use the poor jawans of the army as cannon-fodder and brag on here that its "our" war?
i'm simply baffled by the obsession with this video…
i mean, this is soft treatment by army standards… and most of you are talking like mummy dady kids..
i say soft because they didn't do what they usually do…plucking out nails,
electric shocks to private parts,
threats of physical abuse to female relatives and family members,
rape of female family members of the suspect in front of his eyes,
food and clothe deprivation (leaving suspects naked for days i.e.),
hanging upside down and then doin some boxing and kicking practice on the suspect…
administering cigarette burns on skin..
inserting sharp objects in rectum…
and the list goes on and on…..
if you don't believe me, pray for the day you end up in one of the dungeons of ISI or MI, then i'd like to listen to ur first hand experience!
the abu ghuraib of Iraq pails in comparison to the countless abu ghuraibs in pakistan…
what baffles me even more is that no one is talking about the 300+ people who have been executed extra-judicially…whisked away by the army from the streets and a few days later the body appears in a field or somewhere on the banks of the swat rivers…
most of those bodies don't even have bullet shots to the head, just cuts, burns, incissions on every inch of the body…tortured to death…i know people from swat whose innocent relatives have been killed and their bodies dumped in this manner, AND THESE WERE PEOPLE WHO HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH the taliban…
where is talat hussain, shahid masood, hamid mir, nazir naji, mubashir luqman qadiani and all the other self-righteous touts of the agencies?????
