Mukhtara Mai Rejects the WikiLeaks Cable – Huzoor Bakhsh Kharos is NOT her Brother

On 13th June Dawn released WikiLeaks cables from the US Embassy in Islamabad in 2006 in which US Ambassador Ryan Crocker raising Suspicions of Mukhtaran Mai involvement in panchayat rulings against local girls

WIKILEAK CABLE: Mukhtaran’s brother Hazoor Bakhsh convened a panchayat (traditional court) to review the case of a nine-year old girl xxx who had been raped by three local individuals. According to civil society activists, Mai had urged her brother to deal with the case through a panchayat rather than the formal legal system, arguing that the courts would not properly deal with the rapists. At the panchayat, Bakhsh utilized his position and authority to order that the fifteen year old sister of one of the rapists, Faizan, be handed over in marriage to rape victim’s xxx father, Rasool Bakhsh, as compensation. Rasool tortured Faizan who was rescued by her father and brother one day after her marriage.

Civil society groups claimed that during the same panchayat, Hazoor Bakhsh, issued an order acquiting five people from a neighboring village of the kidnap and rape of two sisters xxx. Sources claim that despite promising the sister’s justice at the panchayat, Hazoor Bakhsh took a Rs. 60,000 (approximately $1000) bribe for their acquittal and ruled against the sisters — effectively finding them guilty of illicit sexual relations.

It seems that there are TWO Hazoor Bakhsh’s in the area one belongs to the Kharos tribe and is better known as Hazoor Bakhsh Kharos while Mukhtara Mai and her brother belong to the Gujjar tribe and her brother should best be recognzied as Hazoor Bakhsh Gujjar.

I’d like everyone to read the email circulated by Mukhtar Mai Women Welfare Organization which would clarify all confusions …..

The Honeytrap for Julian Assange

The Daily Mail studies the sexual assault charges in Sweden which have landed Julian Assange in a worldwide hunt after his startling revelations against the American hegemony. The story is of two women who met up with Julian in August had mutual sex and two days later turn on him charging him with sexual assault. The story is shrouded in a mystery, quite possibly a sex trap laid out to nab Julian as at that time, the Americans were already feeling the heat of his upcoming release on WikiLeaks. He was arrested without bail in UK with a possibility of being extradited to Sweden (US and Sweden have some extraordinary extradition treaties so there is a definite possibility that American government might seek extradition beyond Sweden). Dissecting Pakistani Documents on Wikileaks

Over the past few days Wikileaks has been regularly releasing an interesting set of secure cables on Pakistan. it is my belief that these documents will without doubt go down into history books to have been a world changing event, We here in Pakistan till now dont see anything that may suprirse us, we knew that these bafoons running our country are enslaven to the American interestes, literally calling them up practically at every juncture to appraise them of the issue quite often seeking advise and suggestions, even internal issues.

To me these cables are seemingly like an immensely long chain of love letters written by US embassies around the world, their disclosure embarrasses the participating countries, its without doubt, practically all nations, including Pakistan will be very careful on sharing their ballads in the future, hurting years of American diplomacy. What one does have to wonder, who may actually stand to benefit from supporting Julian Assange and his team helping them to spill the beans, many conspiracy theorists have their own theories, but time will only tell who suffers the least. Fingers have gone pointing to Israel, could it possibly be China or would you speculate someone else? Care to venture a thought

I fully support Julian Assange and his team in this whistle-blowing effort, we here in Pakistan can, after this, claim to be a better informed electorate [for whatever that means in Pakistan] but no longer are we shooting theories into the wind, as to the extent of American involvement in our day-to-day affairs of Pakistan, but now they are documented that all our bafoons running our country blatantly report to their masters quite frequently. I share with you a TEDGlobal2010 interview of Julian Assange with Chris Andersen on Why the world needs WikiLeaks
