Blasphemous YouTube video removed due to TOS violation

We have just been informed that the blasphemous youtube video has been removed from the youtube servers for violating the Terms and conditions of Youtube, this video had been the cause of censorship of the entire youtube domain in Pakistan as enforced by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority

I hope this development can convince the PTA to unblock the domain on an urgent basis while at the same time I hope it also does not serve as an example for PTA to not use this drastic domain-wide censorship in an attempt to block offending content hoping that resultant outcry from the citizens of Pakistan will help force a solution on a global lever – we consider ourselves lucky this time around but might not so fortunate if such a situation were to come again

Note: As of filing of this post and the next update late Sunday evening (2300 PST) the block still exists and it has not be removed, we that the start of the week can bring us some good news

Excellent news! Here’s hoping for a quick restoration of the youtube.com domain.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority PTA should block only that particular link of that Blasphemous video and not the whole youtube, because youtube also have thousands of Islamic videos, I myself uploaded some videos. So giving penalty to appropriate video is plausible, and youtube also remove other videos which are spreading hatred, and abusing religions and cultures.

    Allama Sahib,

Glad you saw the enlightened videos, but even then I speculated, that it ‘could’ be a reason. The facts were later presented almost 24 hours after the story and I presented it as it came. All said glad you are now aware of the corrected version.

The point is this u just to MQM bashing on a slight suspicion. I am not saying MQM is beyond criticism, but ur bias blinds u most of the time. There r millions of videos in Youtube, that paki govt would not want pakis to see. Now, will we start counting each one of them as the probable cause of blockage?

You sent ur MQM bashing email to several groups on internet. Now, would u care to send this post to all those groups, and say u were a fool to suspect anti-MQM video being the cause of this blockage???

    Agree to Allama!
As in the favor of “Freeedom of Speech” and “Internet non-Censorship” it would be very glad of you Maestro to inform the people you miss-informed before about the truth! THanks!

yes, I also agreed to Allama,, we should show self responsibility to overcome the baseless spreads of rumors…

    @Allama, Rameez and Observer

The blogger’s responsibility is to keep updating on issues he/she blogs about but it’s the readers’ responsibility to follow them…..I guess TM has fulfilled his responsibility by posting two updates after the initial post.

Neway..the good news is that YouTube is back..yay!! 🙂

    >>> The bloggers responsibility is to keep updating on issues he/she blogs about

Well, if I want to be updated on some issue, then I will set a news alert on Google/Yahoo News web sites. What TM does is, originate and spread baseless rumors.

    >>> ..I guess TM has fulfilled his responsibility by posting two updates after the initial post

He made a fool of himself by first posting a baseless rumor, and then emailing this post to a number of groups. And after all that he silently admitted that the ban was because of something else. No apologies, and no more emails about this correction to groups.

    This is irresponsible behavior.

I wonder if it is true.

Such issues are present with citizen journalism….if u r looking for an absolutely credible news all the time then u should just stick to CNN, BBC etc.

I second to Fariha on that front. TM has done his job by keeping us updated with something new. If someone dont get it right, well try switch over.

This blogging is like you know something, you write it down. Its not that you have to justify yourself now and then. Everyone is having freedom of expression. Don’t we?

    Keep it up TM!!!

There has been alot of press coverage here about this.

Its a shame when governments try to place censorship on the internet.

I noticed on another website that links to http://Pakistanyoutube.com which allows us to get past these bans for free.

my only beef is that he did not point out the other 1 million videos as part of his rumnor mongering, as the probable cause of this youtube blockage

And off course, he doesn’t have the balls to outrightly condemn Pak govt for the blockage….He had to “demand” Youtube to remove the blasphemous video. What happened to the free speech? or u rather belive in “sleective speech” ???
