A few days back the Aiwan-e-Sadar [Presidential Palace] was utilized as the a wedding reception hall to host the wedding ceremony of our Prime Minsters Gilani’s sons wedding – its just surprising that the entire country suffers the worst economic crisis but oblivious to all this suffering our leaders continue to live lavishly utilizing public property for their own advantage. I’m infuriated at such blatant misuse of public office, when is all this going to stop!! will they ever consider it their duty to ‘work for the people of Pakistan’ the people who got them there in the first place !!

I completely agree with Noor Muhammad. I don’t see any lavishness in the picture you posted. At least they saved the expenditure of booking a wedding hall or a five star hotel. I think Teeth Maestro is propagating their simplicity. This wedding seems to be simpler than most weddings around the country like Karachi, Islamabad or Lahore. Not enough lighting too.

Janab, Pakistan needs stability at the moment and destabilizing Zardari’s government would be playing in the hands of Nawaz Sharif who is unacceptable in all three provinces.

No doubt Zardari has more negatives than any living or dead politician in Pakistan. Even when they bailed him out of Swiss case, they did not forget to mention $60 million assets. Where did he get such a fortune? A son of a middle class zamindar and a slightly well to do businessman can’t be this rich so fast. A failed Zamindar himself.Bhuttos were rich but Benazir hardly inherited anything. However, lets just accept one reality. He is in politics for over 20 years now. His entry may be through association but that is the quickest way to move up in Pakistani Politics.He hasn’t made many gaffe and he has even forgiven people who perhaps killed his wife. He is the true follower of Gandhi in his politics of reconciliation. So he is as qualified as any politician in Pakistan to contest the elections. I would say one more thing that goes in his favor is that he is not a former bureaucrat, or an army COAS, nor is he one of the biggest landlord in Pakistan. Just go back and see how many professional politicians made it to the Presidency through their own efforts and allainces.Choudry Fajja was a politician but he got it because Bhutto liked him. Zadari is the beginning of people’s power in Pakistan. Corrupt and unbelievable now but hopefully we will too have presidents and PMs from Lalloo type background sooner than later. I wonder how these elitist would react then?
After living in the hell of dictatorships for fifty years, you are not going to have perfection overnight. There is going to be a transition period. The two hundred years of democracy is still not perfect in the US. There was no universal suffrage in the US for the first 100 years of the democracy. Check out the British democracy even older than the US democracy and see for yourself how perfect that democracy is.
If Zardari wins elections fairly, he has the legitimate right to remain President of Pakistan until the next elections. Take him to courts over his corruption and let the courts decide! That is democracy!
