Its Nazir Naji, not Haji.
Dear Sir,
Since Judiciary is restored and you can check PLD that what the Judiciary has to say about Wiretapping and Eavesdropping
In 1997 the Supreme Court directed the Government to seek its permission before carrying out wiretapping or eavesdropping operations; however, the judiciary's directive has been ignored widely. No action was taken during the year 2001 on the case of 12 government agencies accused of tapping and monitoring citizens' phone calls, which has been pending since 1996, and no additional action the case was expected.

The Supreme Court directed the Government to seek its permission before carrying out wiretapping or eavesdropping operations; however, the degree of compliance with this ruling was unclear at year's end.
"The government acted in violation of Article 190 of the constitution, which says all executive and judicial authorities in Pakistan shall act in aid of the Supreme Court. Instead of readily and honestly complying with the Supreme Court verdict in the Judges' case, the prime minister castigated the ridiculed it and implemented it reluctantly in phases. Then there was the allegation of wiretapping of state functionaries, which is also a violation of a fundamental right."[Dawn 30.1.1997]
Do note the wording "wiretapping/intercepting of anybody not just state officials"

In 1997 the Supreme Court directed the federal Government to seek the Court's permission before carrying out any future wiretapping or eavesdropping operations. Nonetheless, that same year, a lawyer for a former director of the Intelligence Bureau, charged with illegal wiretapping during Benazir Bhutto's second term in office, presented the Supreme Court with a list of 12 government agencies that still tapped and monitored telephone calls of citizens.
Why these tapes have appeared [if genuine] so suddenly just after Mr Ansar Abbasi [Editor Investigations – The News International/Jang/GEO] surrendered his own plot and
"managed to file" a particular story on this surrender??
1 – Senior journalist returns plot to government By our correspondent Saturday, April 18, 2009

If I am not fogetting there was an Accountability Case in Sindh in late 90s or in early 2000/2001 wherein an Audio Tape and a Video Tape was produced before the Judge as an evidence of bribery but court didn't allow the evidence and court's observation was that anybody good at acting can do that.
I hope if any lawyer on this forum can educate us on the admittance of such evidence in the Court of Law in Pakistan.
Recently on Justice Bilal Case in Aaj Kamran Khan Kay Sath on GEO TV, Mr Ansar Abbasi had openly admitted that he usually tapes the conversation of the people he talks with on any particular story. When Kamran Khan asked that "is it not against Journalism's Ethics, Mr Ansar said, that investigative journalists would have to have some evidence to support the story so that the subject couldn't deny the facts in future.
Generally, journalists do inform the subject [when they break any sensational story] that he/she is on tape but that rarely happened in Pakistan and that is the Violation of Fundamental Rights i.e. Invasion of Privacy , illication of private information through unfair means. There is a difference between Journalist, Police Officer and Intelligence Officer.
Journalists should avoid being Intelligence Officers because Intelligence Officers often do things which are not allowed under any Law.
Oyee Najeeray! nia plot mil gia jardari say? Aik hamay dilado plz!
These recording were not for the purpose of presenting it to a judge. They were primarily for the court of public opinion, which is open to both sides. Among the common techniques for defense is to just ignore it, or try to discredit it by muddling the water as much as possible.
Many have claimed that Nazir Naji was drunk during the calls. It would be unfair to claim that Nazir Naji was under the influence in the latter calls. It seems that the first call was made on a landline telephone. That is why the voice quality was better. I think NN was in his office as the call was initially picked up from a speakerphone.
The second and third call might have been received on a mobile phone. Ahmad Noorani should validate this observation. Such quality of voice on mobile phone is a well-known phenomenon in the cellular industry. The choppy and latent voice is due to a combination of bad signal, excessive packet loss and selection of a high compression algorithm. Funny, it is called “drunken sailor syndrome”. Mr Noorani, do not call NN on his mobile phone next time.
Although Nazir Naji gave his oral consent for the recording of his call [listen to 2nd call], recording of a telephonic voice is illegal in certain territories. But in many jurisdictions it is perfectly ok to record as long as the person who is recording is also in the conversation and the telephone connection belongs to him. Anyway, who says there are laws in the tribal land of new “Jurnailism” and within the territory of FATA, Islamabad?
Now a days many reporters record their interview material for reviewing and support purposes. But Ahmed Noorani was disingenuous in saying that he was not recording the conversation.
50years ki journalism bhi tameez nahi sikha saki is naji ko. Aisai senior ko 2 jotai laganai chahye
Wiretrapping/eaves dropping is not equivalent to recording your own conversation with someone. Recording of calls is a feature available in almost every mobile phone now.
It was sad to hear the conversation. naji sahib is leading the nation through his pen..imagine which type of leadership we have in the field of intellectualism.
May Allah protect the nation from these people.
ahmed noorani has rightly done to publicise the audio otherwise he may have been kicked by…..the naji sahib's…."friends and masters"
well well well!
true picture of a secular journalist.
oh my god!!!
what a son of a gun he is….typical secular lowlife
his language is typical of goons of hera mandi!!!!!
what a third class mawali he is.
50 years he just licked the asses of ruling elite and see how proud he is.hahahahhahahahahhaha
man!
he is EXPOSED
and BUSTED….
Dr Jawwad, have you ever read anything by Nazir Naji? He's hardly secular!
And who are you to criticise his language consider the kind of language you yourself use on this blog? Hypocrisy.
where there is my comment there is alway danial burki! hahahahahahaha
you can not compare me with nazir naji.
i am a common man abd nazir naji is supposedly a respected journalist with 50 years of service in ……licking.
lolzzzz ohhohohohoohhohohoho
at least we should not loose temper,if want to change this dirty situation
Nazi Naji is speaking the language of power. The language which comes from the mouths of the rulars. As he is the ally of every master he should speak in this way.But the dillema is that our reader class expect from these people a mature delievery.
How can these people deliever a sound conclusions when they are themselves abnormal mentally. Naji sahib has lost his temper..He is now friends of LONDON walas so he must have thought that Iam above the reach of any body. A weak man like Ahmed Noorani can be so bold by just remaining calm is really nice to hear.Naji sahib is drunken surely.these people try to guide the nation. the people who should not be allowed to drive a truck are trying to drive the whole nation through their WISDOM.
May Allah protect the nation from them and from their masters.
LONG LIVE THE PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN TRUTH AND JUSTICE
DOWN WITH THE BOOT LICKERS
The comment about the language was just a joke; I have no problems with you or anyone using offensive language.
But the question remains: have you ever read anything by Nazir Naji? How can you call him secular? He's one of the main proponents of the Religious Right in the vernacular press of Pakistan, and also someone who has compromised journalism in this country by taking kickbacks from successive regimes (including the PPP!). He's got nothing to do with secularism; so at least get your facts right.
The most reliable GEO and Jang group should be ashamed of being patronising such people with such a charackter.
shame on jang group
shame on geo
shame on agents of imperialism
well well well!true picture of a secular journalist.oh my god!!![Dr Jawwad Khan]
===================
Dear Jawwad Sahab,
You should have read Nazir Naji when he used to "praise" General Zia and then Nawaz Sharif and now Zardari. Also you should have read Mr Ansar Abbasi when he was in Daily Dawn and in those days Islam was no where near Ansar Abbasi.
The comment about the language was just a joke; I have no problems with you or anyone using offensive language.

me either! infact i love abusive language and honestly i enjoyed the last two episodes of conversation.
my point was not abusive language my point was his behaviour
which was of a typical "gadagars" who fight over single chawwani and injure each other.
his pathetic anger was a clear proof of his personality.
i am watching his talk shows since 5 years.i think he fulfills the criteria of being secularist.
@Amir mughal!
did you see the character of a devout muslim and a charcter of secular journalist.
big difference.isn't it?
Bravo… "Coolness of Mr. Ahmad Noorani". I hope tapes are genuine (anything is possible in our lawless country). I applause the courage of Mr. Ahmad and commend his professionalism in bringing a true face of one of the nation’s ranked journalists. We need such personality if we really need to save the nation of power hunger and greedy.
I suggest Mr. Ahmed to launch full inquiry on it and do file FIR just in case this so called “Intellect” tries to hurt him. May almighty Allah protect you and keep the good work up. We expat Pakistani proud of you.
To all claiming that the recording as fake. Here is the confirmation of the incident.
http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=173…
It seems that most journalists have their share of loot of plots. Not a single media outlet (other than The News) has condemned the profanity. Had Nazir Naji been in the Land of the Braves and Frees, his career would have been over.
ONE thing and one word….chahey is person k jitni bhi contribution ho journalism mein….ab in se koi pochey bhi na….yehi hoga na…hazrat umar (RA)se un ke jism pe extra kapra laga dekh kr sawaal howa aur unhon ne jawab dia…ye chahye 1000 saal bhi services dain….pakistan k liye kuch ni hai….aur aj ye sabit huwa…k jitna KIA THA…wo WASOOL KR LIA….SHAME MR.NAJI….!!u hvent learnt anything…mind it ..u hve not contributed a single,IKHLAAQ SE GIREY AUR GHUSSA SARI ROODAAD BATA RHA HAI….

Well no issues with language as it can be of anyone. It was sad when Mr. Noorani denied recording. This should not be issue what Mr. Naji said or Mr. Noorani denied. The point is we should think, till when, will the resourceful people will be kicking out the deserved ones. This is possible that Mr. Naji deserves that plot, so what…but this acitivty is common in every part of Pakistan.I will mention only one thing…Career making point of any person is job.If you have good links (UNCLE, PAPA )you can get good job/internsip and hence a deserving person loses opportunity. The dilemma is these unfair acts are common in every part of a Pakistaniz life and may Allah give better opportunities to the deserving ones and the resourceful people should PERMIT others too to come forward and serve Pakistan.
By the way I am serving in a good company and satisfied 🙂

RIUJ resents Ansar Abbasi’s move of ‘surrendering’ his plot DATED Friday 24th April, 2009
http://www.onlinenews.com.pk/details.php?id=14430…
ISLAMABAD: RIUJ (Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists) has taken strong notice of, the fact that Mr. Ansar Abbasi has written a letter to Chief Minister Punjab, in which acting as a very honest person, has returned his plot allotted to him in Media Town, Rawalpindi as a member of Press Club. He was more than welcome if his intentions were good, but unfortunately he also asked CM Shahbaz Sharif to cancel all the plots given to members of Rwp/Islamabad Press Club. In his letter he said that journalists in Pakistan belong to privileged class, while in fact 98 % of Pakistani journalists deserve sympathy of people, as they are the most depressed class of the society.
The journalists in Pakistan are getting the wages of 1996. In most of newspapers they don’t even get their salary even after three months; over 400 journalists were terminated without notice across the country from various newspapers and TV Channels. He never raised voice against this, though he remember to give safe side to media owners.
Ansar Abbasi wrote in his letter that he does not feel good because this plot was given by the government, but he never asked his bosses to move out of the GEO building because this plot was also given to Mir Shakil by the then government. He did not tell the people that previous government gave the status of MODEL VILLAGE to his native town and his brother was given the contract, besides not confess that he resides in a luxury house in the posh sector of Islamabad, and neither that someone gifted three hotels to him at Faizabad. This is not the move of ANSAR ABBASI, but of the media owners to avoid implementation on 7th wage award. IS there anyone to raise voice against this man?
Ansar Abbasi backing Qabza group in Murree: affectees DATED Friday 24th April, 2009
http://www.onlinenews.com.pk/details.php?id=14427…
ISLAMABAD: One Shazia Shah, a school teacher has alleged leading journalist Ansar Abbasi is backing "Qabza" group in Murree adding bother in law and some other relatives of Ansar Abbasi are part of this group.
She said this along with other members of affected family while addressing a press conference here Wednesday in Islamabad Press Club. "My family belongs to Bhurbun and the Qabza group which is patronized by brother in law of Ansar Abbasi has illegally occupied a land tract of 14 kanal owned by my family", she charged. This land valued Rs 2 Lac per canal, she added. About 50 to 60 hooligans attacked our home a few days earlier and abused our family publicly, she told. Some people also attacked my car when I was traveling from Murree to Islamabad by my car a week before and I made a marrow escape", she blamed. Waqar who is brother of Shazia Shah alleged Qabza group had refused to accept the decision of Jirga. He appealed to chief minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to take immediate notice of this illegal occupation and take action for ensuring early return of land to his family from the illegal occupants.

ok then share with us.if you have something concrete and logical.
Doing so would destroy my anonymity; and I'm not someone with "connections" who can fend off people like him. So I shall hold my tongue on this occasion. You will obviously interpret this as a sign that I don't really have anything on Abbasi, and you're free to do that. That still won't change who he is.
no comments.
matter unresolved…..
No wonder this guys writes in favor of the Govt.
I was specially surprised when MQM, was praising this journalist on and off. MQM had his articles on their website.
Nazir Naji belongs to Altaf Hussain group. Altaf Hussain, Zardari and thugs like these belong to the same clan as that UAE sheikh. They are corrupt mother f@ckers who pretend to be saints.
Shame on GEO, to continue to post his articles as opninions
Shame on Jang Group

Dear Jawwad Sahab,
Indeed Mr Ansar Abbasi Zindabad [Long Live] but would you kindly provide the link of that story which as per you filed by Mr Ansar Abbasi in Jang on the subject mentioned in Daily Ummat, Karachi. By the way the online news agency is owned by Amir Latif [correct me if I am wrong] who is also an activist of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba [Student Wing of Jamat-e-Islami]. I hope IJT worker is not lying in his story on Asnar Abbasi:

Some facts on Daily Ummat Publication and its Land Grabber and Gangster Editor Rafique Afghan, from where you have quoted the news. If you have any doubt that then go to any nearest library and search for the Leading Newspapers Daily Dawn, The News International, Daily Jang, and Daily Jasarat as well of 1997, 1998 and 1999 and you may find very disturbing expose' about Ummat and its editor Rafique Afghan. Crux is as under: Editor Ummat – Rafique Afghan [not a Pashtun but Urdu Speaking Jamat-e-Islami/IJT Worker of Karachi University and worked with Hussain Haqqani in Karachi University in IJT and Former Employee of Weekly Takbeer, Karachi] should we discuss how he occupied Ummat newspaper and snatched it from his benefactor (Late Salahuddin – May Allah have mercy on his soul) and how he beaten his own wife Saadia d/o Salahuddin for the sake of just a Newspaper.
Salahuddin murder case takes a dramatic turn
http://www.karachipage.com/news/Jan_99/010899.htm…
DAWN/The News International, KARACHI
08 January 1999, Friday, 19 Ramzan 1419
KARACHI, Jan 7: The murder case of Maulana Salahuddin has taken a dramatic turn with the startling disclosures by his daughter that she suspects the involvement of her husband in the assassination of her father, who was editor of Takbeer. She called upon the government to reinvestigate the case.
She also pleaded for associating her husband, Rafiq Afghan, editor of an Urdu daily, with the inquiry and added that she had decided to seek separation from her husband.
Speaking to Dawn on Thursday, Saadia said she had sent a request to the interior minister a few days ago expressing her concern over the state of investigations conducted in the case. She said in her communication to the minister that the police had installed "fake" suspects.
The interior minister, Chaudhry Shujaat, when contacted by Dawn, said that now the case of Maulana Salahuddin, who was murdered outside his offices in 1994, could not be reinvestigated as a scrutiny committee comprising the personnel of the army's judge advocate general branch, military intelligence, the ISI and the chief secretary had scrutinised the case and prepared it for its trial by a military court.
Terming the move by Saadia as a "belated one", the interior minister said Rafiq Afghan could not be cited even as co-accused in the case according to the procedures being adopted in the scrutiny and disposal of cases.
In her letter to the federal minister, Saadia said, she had expressed her fears that Rafiq Afghan wanted to flee the country with their two-year-old son and, therefore, his name be put on the exit control list.
She said she had also written that Rafiq would be fleeing the country to either Iran or Afghanistan, alleging that he had in his possession an ID card with the fake name of Saleem, "and he must be having a passport with a fake name, as well."
A few days later, Saadia said, she spoke to the interior minister who acknowledged the receipt of her letter, saying the government would definitely do something in this regard.
Saadia, who, according to her, has had estranged relations with her husband ever since "he kicked me out from his house in 1997", said that her suspicions, which had now turned into a firm belief, were based on "convincing reasons".
The woman claimed that the only witness and complainant in the murder case, the late Salahuddin's driver, had been coerced by her husband to identify one of the two "fake" suspects in police custody, Saleem TT.
Later on, she said, the CIA police on their own brought the other "fake" suspect, Nadeem Mota, to the residence of the driver, Amjad Pervaiz, to force him to identify Nadeem as well as an assassin.
She said the management of Takbeer, headed by her, had taken a stand soon after the case was reopened following the imposition of governor's rule and had detected numerous instances of foul play in the investigations carried out by the police.
She said Amjad Pervaiz volunteered to speak out the truth when he found that the magazine had already taken a stand on the issue and on the occasion of second fake identification he refused to oblige the police.
"I noticed a U-turn in the overall attitude of my husband soon after the reopening of the case as he who had ejected me from the house was now showing willingness to welcome me, which I refused," said Saadia, who was married to Rafiq Afghan in 1988.
Only yesterday, she said, the witness (Amjad Pervaiz) was unofficially produced before the high-ranking police officials comprising, among others, the DIG of Karachi, at Takbeer's offices. He told them that he was shown various photographs of suspect Saleem TT by Rafiq in the latter's office "forcing" him to identify the suspect for police.
Saadia claimed that in the entire course of inquiries no one from Takbeer had been approached by the law enforcement agencies since the murder. She said that the driver was approached independently and the management had never been informed about it.
She said the situation suggested that the police wanted to save the real culprits involved in the conspiracy hatched to kill her father.
Plots for journalists? Why in the world any government would do that unless….(you scratch my back and I ….!!!)
Feel like calling this guy Nazir Paaji!!
These guys are supposed to be a model for juniors but, the problem is they all have an attitude problem and when challenged they (like any other person with some authority) when challenged, begin the conversation with "Do you know who I am?"
How tasteless, how unethical, how absurd. How arrogant. In journalism, truth is the goal and not phony protocol.

Hey Dr Jawwad,
You want to kick Amir Mughal in his pants? just start praising Jamat-e-Islami or Islami Jamiat Talaba :).
Amir Mughal is from shikarpoor as the mughals are from shikarpoor not jacobabad. He is ashamed to discolose this or his last name is not mughal.
He is impressed by PPP, born in a Dakoo family, he did get the opportunity to get education in a posh school in clifton. He don't have to work to make a living so he is on the web, trying to earn some fame.
So don't get bothered by his aim-less, blog hijacking comments.
Hussain, you're accusing Amir Mughal of being born in a dakoo family and yet are a sympathiser of IJT ghundas. Hilarious!
Danial Burki,
You are a Murtad, so for you every Muslims is a Ghunda, doesn't matter if he belongs to IJT or not.
I think we should all contact Jang and GEO group to stop this shameless journalist, Nazir Naji from being treated as a journalist
He can join any Political Party that he like and be treated as their information minister, but not a Journalist
Where is this Peoples Resistance GROUP? Why don't they protest against these shameless Journalists?
@Faris: Heh. Is that the best defence you can present for the IJT? Tsk tsk.

====================
Dear Hussain Sahab,
Salam,
If you would go deep in History then you may find that basically Mughals are not from any region of the sub-continent but they are settled in different areas of Pakistan, India and Bangladesh since centuries:
1 – Mughals, 2 – Barlas, 3 – Baig, 4 – Chughtai, 5 – Mirza and 6 – Hazaras of Baluchistan and Afghanistan all are Mughals [These are pure Mughals from the direct bloodline of Genghis Khan without any mix marriages]
After 1857 war they scattered all around the sub-continent.
Following are the areas:
Punjab:
1 – Khaniwal and Multan [nowadays mostly in Carpentery and Furniture Making]
2 – Gujrat, Jehlum, Lahore and Chakwal [Military, Ironsmith]
Baluchistan:
1 – Hazaras [Mostly in Military remeber General Musa and Former Air Chief Marshal Mr. Sharbat Ali Changezi and others, they are also in bakery and confectionery business and they are staunch Shias]
Sindh:
1 – Tando Thoro, Badin, and Hyderabad [Family of Sindhi and Persian Language Scholar Mirza Qaleech Baig and they are Shias and originally arived from Gerogia Russia.
2 – Jacobabad and Shikarpur [Mughals, and Baigs and they are settled in Sindh since 1857]
Regarding your comment about my parents being a Dakoo [Bandits and Marauders]!! Let me assure you and I am not lying that immediate forefathers were basically Military Personals and far away from Feudal. However, for my distant Forefather, you may call them Bandit and Marauder e.g. Talibani Mughal King Aurangzeb [born out of Shia Mother Mumtaz Mehel] who compiled Fatawa-e-Alamgiri which was later used by these Deobandi Bandits and Barelvi too for making Islamic Law.
I am not at all impressed by PPP which is evident from my several posts on this blog and my blog as well, please check the comment before raising the finger.
"@Faris: Heh. Is that the best defence you can present for the IJT? Tsk tsk"
yeh i think so.it depends upon circustances and opponents.
Amir Mughal is from shikarpoor as the mughals are from shikarpoor not jacobabad. He is ashamed to discolose this or his last name is not mughal. [Hussain]
==================
Dear Hussain,
If you are talking about the real sons of the soil of Jacobabad or whole Sindh then most of the people who are living in Sindh are not orginally Sindhis but settlers from other areas or even countries. The Original Sindhis are as under:
1 – Samma,
2 – Bheel,
3 – Meghwars,
4 – Kohlis,
The are all of Dravadian Bloodline.
Settlers:
Talpur, Kalhoras – Abbasis, Jatois, Rind, Khosa, Bajarani [basically a branch of Marri tribe], Jhakrani, Bugti [in my area], Dahanis, Jamalis, Domkis, Bhuttos [originally from Rajputana, and Hisar – now in Haryana earlier in East Punjab], Syeds [divided Shia and Sunnis e.g. G M Syed was Shia and Rashidi Syeds (Pagara) are from Arabia], Makhdooms of Hala [Basically Siddiquis], Siddiquis are also settled in Dadu, Hyderabad and Shikarpur.
Punjabi Settlers of Sindh:
You couldn't even tell while talking to them these Hardworking settlers from Punjab who are settled in Sind since 1897 in Tharparkar, Larkana, and Jacobabad. Mostly Niazi, Awan and Arain. They have their chaks in Tharparkar [I hope you must've been to James Abad, Kot Ghulam Muhammad, Kunri, Dhoronaro, Pithoro, Sinjhoro and Mithi area of Tharparkar because they live their and have developed relations with the locals through inter marriages.
Urdu Speaking Rajput Clans in Sindh who speak both Urdu and Sindhi:

Nazir Naji throws naked abuses to Ahmed Noorani. Hundreds of comments have appeared on different sites. 99% of them have condemned the words used by Nazir Naji. Most of them have shown no surprise on it. Only 1% have indulged in technical things like recording conversation is illegal etc. However by search engine for more comments I found the best comments at a site called http://mylittle-pakistan.blogspot.com/ It not only made comments on Nazir Naji but it told a story about Mujeeb Shami reading of which gives indication it is true one. Most of our senior column writers or ancher person thought talk like poor men but they are from the richest families.
