Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain a famous religious host of a show called Aalim Online which airs frequently on Geo TV has entered some hot waters in the past few days. It is believed that his comments on the show may have incited Muslims to target and kill followers of the Ahmedi sect. Dr. Aamir has been running this show for the past many years and has developed a strong following catapulting him to fame to the extent that many Pakistanis swear by his religious commentary on TV, and remains a highly sought after show specially during the month of Ramadan.
Historically Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain has had his taste of controversy which started of from his fake degrees where this blogger had labeled him as Jahil Online back in 2005, he was then associated with MQM for a few years and ultimately had a falling out with the party over a controversial comment he made on TV condemning the British author Salman Rushdie, saying that Salman Rushdie should be killed for blaspheming the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in his book, Satanic Verses, after making this comment Mr. Online refused to retract his statement despite immense pressure from the top London based MQM leadership which ultimately lead to his dismissal and soon he also resigned from his Ministry
Asian Human Rights Watch reports that on 7th September in his program ‘Aalim Online’ the anchor declared the murder of Ahmadi sect members to be necessary (Wajib ul Qatal) according to Islamic teachings, because its followers don’t believe in the last prophet, Mohammad, peace be upon him.
Dr. Amir repeated his instruction several times, urging fundamentalists Muslims to kill without fear. While on air the anchor person also pressured the other two Islamic scholars (from two different sects) on the program to support the statement. This resulted in a unanimous decision among the scholars, on air during a popular television show, to urge lynching with the intent to kill.
This was not a one-off. On September 9, Mr. Hussain answered a query with the comment that blasphemers are liable to be put to death.
According to the information received, at 1:15pm on September 8, 18 hours after the broadcast, six persons entered the Fazle Umer Clinic, a two-story hospital at Mirpurkhas city and two of them went to the second floor and started pressuring 45 year-old Dr. Abdul Manan Siddiqui to come downstairs to attend to a patient in crisis. Dr. Manan left his office and descended into an ambush. He was shot 11 times and died on the spot. His private guard was also shot and is in a serious condition. A woman was also injured by firing. The killers remained at the hospital until the doctor was declared dead, then they walked out of the building’s front entrance. Police registered the killers as unknown.
On September 9, 48 hours after the broadcast, Mr. Yousaf, a 75 year-old rice trader and district chief of the Ahmadi sect was killed on his way to prayer in Nawab Shah, Sindh province. Yousaf was fired on from people on motor bikes, and sustained three bullet wounds. He died on the way to the hospital. The assailants had taken a route past a police station. No one was arrested.

I am not a Aamir Liaqat fan. But, did you see the show? Aamir never said you should kill every Ahmedi rather he was just repeating what the punishment is for those who claim to be prophets of Islam after Huzoor (SAWW). He was repeating the what was according to Sharia as well as what Khulfa Rashdeen have done to those who claimed to be prophets. I guess Hazrat Abu Bakr was also wrong in fighting fake prophet of his time. Why we Muslims become so guttless and apologetic that we cannot even defend our faith? We have hide behind all these excuses? What I got from the show was to kill anyone who claims to be a Muslim prophet not everyone who follows them. They actually said that these people were mostly uneducated who followed Ghulam Mohammed during the British time.
As for Asian HR commission they couldn’t even spell Aalim Online let alone have any moral standing to single out this show. They should go after Dutch government who attached 1.2 billion Muslims with those cartoons.

Free and independent media in a third world country that is a US client…impossible. You can have independent journalists and reporters who will just do enough to keep legitimacy and an appearance of free press but a well financed news group like GEO to be free of influence! I don’t buy that.
You know there is a lot of talk in US about extremism in countries like Pakistan, there needs to be rhetoric from here to feed the rhetoric from there.
And trust me, MUSH who fed real living breathing people to US for their need to keep terrorism in the forefront, would have shut down GEO or any other news organization in 2 minutes if they were not playing their designated roles. When I say shut down basically the news organization changes hands for a very healthy profit, case and point CNN from Ted Turner (a relatively reasonable news organization) to Time Warner where it turned into PRAVDA of US.
I will go out on a limb and speculate that very likely Aljazeera also fits in that profile even if it appears that it is ‘balanced’ and pro-Islamic. So this jerk on TV whether knowingly or unknowingly does serve a purpose, he is there for a reason and it’s not necessarily the ratings!

Allah and his prophets has given us the complete guidance for life but we sought our guidance from west. First we dont know whther these killings are directly linked with AOL episode? secondly for those who love their Allah and the prophet would never let anyone to claim false things. What if some one in public abuse our blood relative(father or mother etc), we obviously get furious and tries to take revenge, likewise If we love Allah and his prophet, we can never accept such claims. Dividing muslims in to different sects is a strategy by JEWS as they have done it with christians. So please all Muslims please open your eyes and think ahead of this. @FizDosani – im neither protecting Salman Rushdie neither am I an Ahmedi – but I believe the act of killing does not and should not fall in the realm of the ISLAMIC religion. I believe in the fact that we are a peaceful religion, and much can be handled with mutual dialog and understanding. As far as Ahmedi’s go, it is sad that they were condemned, Pakistan was based on the fundamental belief that all religions can be practiced in this free state, yes the Quran and Sunnah comes first so I am no scholar to denounce the age old decision or open a long drawn controversy.
But I believe in humanity, maybe one day our tolerance and understanding can guide them to our path, but by the use of force / killing / suppression you cannot and will not win the battle.
It is the same stupid analogy with which the Israeli’s attacked Palestine, USA attacked Iraq, Afghanistan and the Talibans in Pakistan – they assume that if you hit and hit hard they will run and disappear, but in reality it reinforces their resolve to fight back.

as i read the comments, i notice how geo is constantly labelled as an american tool. i am also watching the television where geo is running a cutesy animation of the twin towers collapsing. it has people in my office aghast at its insensitivity. so if i follow the conventional logic here, it seems that someone in the US right now is really pissed about how their money is being wasted.

It is the responsibility of a government to tackle religious hatred, yet in Pakistan it flourishes. That it can bloom so publicly and has results both bloody and unpunished, is an embarrassment to a country that hopes to be taken seriously outside of its borders. While religious persons can incite murder on mainstream television shows without restraint or legal consequence, a country cannot hope to be considered mature. Neither can its leaders.
In this context I demand that the government of Pakistan take immediate steps to stop further killings by other religious communities and to investigate the two cases reported above. Those responsible for the killings must be prosecuted and punished according to the law. Immediate measures to prohibit broadcasting and spreading religious hatred through the media.
I further urge you to investigate those responsible for instigating murders through media broadcast. I also demand for a genuine and humane effort to be made to reintegrate the Ahmadi community into the social fabric of Pakistan. Their civil, human and religious rights must be protected. The government must take the lead to create a space for dialogue between opposing religious communities in Pakistan there by bringing an end to religious and communal violence in the country.
Aamer should be tried and punished for this reprehensible act, our media in question should be muzzled they have lost it totally in the dream of making news instead of reporting it.

Salam, I just want to say that Aamir Liaqat has committed suicide. Yes, the results of his beleives will be destructive for him. In the past, whoever has tried to harm or destroy Ahmadis has come to an end. Examples are Zia-ul-Haq who forced Ahmadis to stop preaching but failed. He tried to throw Ahmadis out of Pakistan but Ahmadis spread in the whole world including about 50 lack Ahmadis in Pakistan. Zia-ul-Haq died in a horrible accident and ever his dead body was not found. Similar is the case with Bhutto who was not solely responsible for passing the bill from National Assembly but came under the pressure of Jahil Moulvis. He was hanged by his own beloved Army Cheif. Similar will be the end of Aamir Liaqat Hussain.
And soon people will realize that whatever people say about Ahmadi Muslims is totally wrong. We are being hated and disliked just as Muslims were disliked by Kufar-e-Makkah and Non-Ahmadi Moulvis are playing the role of Kufar-e-Makkah. Soon truth will be visible to everyone as today the truth of Islam is visible.
The problems is this, the Ahmedis claim themselves to be Muslims. They continue to agitate issues with other Muslims and that brings about more problems. Soon as they stop calling themselves Muslims, the Muslims not only in Pakistan but around the world will stop making such statements against them.
All citizens of Pakistan should be given protection for their choice of belief. There is no compulsion in Islam and that is very clearly stated in the Quran.
I will add that the Ahmedis are not a sect of Islam, as some are led to believe.
What I would really like to know is this, why is this issue coming up now? Do we not has Pakistanis have enough issues on the table?

Suppose I do not believe in Allah, or I do not believe in Prophet or any part or practice of Islam (Nauz Billah), still call my self a Muslim, still I enjoy the same rights under constitution and it is only Allah who has authority to judge me and my faith.

Defining what is a Muslim is not set by me. Go pick up the Quran and study the sunnah of the life of Prophet Muhammad (saw) and you can see what a Muslim is and should be.
You are further confusing yourself of what the founder of the Ahmedis thought his people. Go educate yourself a little more. The problem is and will remain that they and other lunatics agitate these issues.

No where in Quran Allah permits you to kill any innocent person and no one can show a single example of this babaric act from the Sunnah of Mohammad PBUH.

You might get an idea of what real Islam is and educate yourself. As for deviating from Islam, how often do you visit a pir baba? Also, how will you recognise thr messiah when he comes?

Ahmedis are not doing tableegh of Islam, rather they are distracting Muslims away from Islam.
There is no Prophet after Muhammad (S.A.W.W) and Kafir Mirza couldn’t even make up his mind if he was Imam Mahdi or Jesus or just a new prophet altogether.

You are absolutely right, there is no prophet after Prophet Muhammad (saw).
Our task is nothing more than to convey the truth, hidayah is in the hands of Allah alone.
They are very good in distorting the facts, Quran and Hadith, and even the writings of their founder to suit their purpose. And finally when you think that you have cornered them in a very logical manner, they simply change the topic.
That is why Allah has said that He has sealed their hearts and ears. One can only pray for them, that they do see the truth.

His followers were not the academic elite. Allah (swt) gave them monumental supremacy against all opposition. The Sun of Muhammad (saw) is reflected in the Moon of Ghulam Ahmad (as).
