Missing Persons – Nadir Feroze & Shakil Ahmed

Nadir FerozeIf you recall almost a year back a cardiac medicine took the life of a few hundred people in Punjab – the debacle focused on a fault medicine by a company called Efroze Chemicals – Since then the courts have been investigating this case and the directors keep being summoned into court for the proceedings but on Jan 24th when both Nadir Feroze & Shakil Ahmed appeared for their bail extensions they were abducted outside the court premises and have not been located

Eferoze Chemical’s Nadir Feroze Khan & Shakil Ahmad appeared before the court on Thursday, January 24, however as soon as they came out of court premises, four to six cops in civvies picked them up and bundled them into an Elite Police Force van at gunpoint

It is alleged that the police took the two to some undisclosed place and they had not been traced even after passage of 72 hours. Complaints have been filed at Rescue 15 soon after the kidnaping and also submitted an application with Islampura Police Station. However, NO FIR had been registered so far

PETITION: Citizens Demand for a Fair Elections in Pakistan – Disqualify Defaulters

“Starting a Citizens Petition for a Fair Elections in Pakistan to the ECP to: Disqualify Fake Degree Holders, Dual Nationals, Loan Defaulters, Tax Evaders and Defaulters of Utility Bills from contesting the elections

To:
Justice (Retd.) Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim
Election Commission of Pakistan

We, the ‘Citizens for Fair Elections’ demand that the Election Commission puts an end to the eternal recycling of political sewerage by taking the following bold steps:

  1. DISQUALIFY ALL FAKE DEGREE HOLDERS: ECP should order HEC to provide exact details of all parliamentarians who either have fake degrees or who concealed their degrees to prevent verification by HEC. Both categories of Parliamentarians be disqualified for their fraud and dishonest actions.
  2. DISQUALIFY ALL DUAL NATIONALS: ECP should ask for affidavit and verify from other sources the dual nationality status of each legislator. Those with dual nationality or those who do not provide an affidavit confirming that they are not dual nationals be disqualified. This should include people like Rehman Malik who acquired and then presumably gave up their dual nationality. Article 63C of the constitution reads, “A person shall be disqualified from being elected as a member of Parliament if he acquires the citizenship of a foreign state”. The act of once acquiring is sufficient to disqualify a legislator.
  3. DISQUALIFY LOAN DEFAULTERS. (Details may be obtained from SBP and all banks).
  4. DISQUALIFY TAX EVADERS: (Details may be obtained from FBR for the last five years).
  5. DISQUALIFY DEFAULTERS OF UTILITY BILLS. (Details may be obtained from all utility service providers for the last five years).

ECP should get the exact details for the past five years from SBP, FDR and Utilities service providers and disqualify all those legislators who violated article 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
Sincerely,
[Your name]

Each signatory to this online petition automatically generates a direct email to the Chief Election Commission with your name &/or messages appended to it

In a few days I then also pledge to print out this petition and present it to the CEC so that our voices are heard

Lend your full support to DISQUALIFY violators of the law from contesting the elections

How PTI Social Media Helped Imran Khan Dominate Asia Society’s 2012 Year-End Poll

2012 Asia Society Person of the YearWhen Asia Society launched their 2012 Asia’s Person of the Year reader poll this last December, they were inundated with votes — so much so that they thought something was amiss. In 2011, when their year-end poll ended they received 881 votes, total. In 2012, they we were getting that many votes every couple hours. And more than 90 percent of them were for Imran Khan to have finally received 11,000 votes (87%)

At first they thought the poll was being hijacked but it slowly dawned on them that it might actually be passionate Imran Khan supporters who voted for their hero. Dan Washburn asks me a few questions

The PTI’s wise decision

Rehana Ahmed Batlay writes an Op-ed in Tribune titled “The PTI’s wise decision

“By taking a lone principled stand, the PTI has proven that it has matured as a political party. Had it been a part of the march, it may have found itself in the awkward position of being pictured arm-in-arm with leaders of a government that it is highly critical of. It resisted the opportunity for cheap publicity and did the right thing by remaining focused on the upcoming elections.” – More on EXPRESS TRIBUNE: The PTI’s wise decision

Founding Father Quaid-e-Azam receives Altaf Hussain’s drone attacks

Quaid-e-Azam PassportToday during the much anticipated Political Drone speech Altaf Hussain distorting history by attacking Quaid-e-Azam the founding father of Pakistan to justify his and Tahir-ul-Qadri’s foreign passports – attacking the most respected symbol of Pakistan, is literally picking a fight with the entire nation of Pakistan. Shame

Rai Muhammed Saleh Azam at Pakistani Nationalist writes Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s Passport: Setting the Record Straight “Altaf Hussain, in a telephonic address to his party workers from London on 10 January 2013, tried to justify his British nationality and passport by alluding to the British Indian passport of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

This comparison is misplaced because Quaid-e-Azam’s British Indian passport was issued in 1946 in Karachi, the British Indian Empire, when Pakistan was not even in existence. Before the independence of Pakistan and India in August 1947, all citizens of British India were issued British Indian passports.

The comparison is also misplaced because Quaid-e-Azam did not have a choice of nationality in 1946, whereas post-1947, Pakistani politicians do have a choice. Indeed, there was no such thing as a Pakistani Passport from the time of Pakistan’s independence on 14 August 1947 until Quaid-e-Azam’s death on 11 September 1948. On page 1B of Quaid-e-Azam’s British Indian passport (see below), it clearly reads “British Subject by Birth” (as he was born in Karachi, which was then part of the British Indian Empire), whereas Altaf Hussain is a British subject by choice.”

Will Social Media Play Crucial Role in 2013 Election of Pakistan?

Social Media Vote ElectionsGhulam Sarwar at Pak Zindabad asks – PTI was among the pioneer Political Party, which was using Social media more effectively. The reason behind this was very simple, their mostly supporters were young and Social Media addictive… In Current Scenario it seems that only the PTI, PML-N, Pervez Musharraf, these guys are serious to use Social Media in the Up coming Elections. The sense of Social media is still in developing phase here in Pakistan. It will take time, but the future is very bright” via Gholam Sarver

PML-N leaders making efforts for settlement of Shahzaib murder case

Shahzeb KhanPakistan Today comes out with a more clearer story as compared to their Hoax Story published against Shahzeb Khan movement

It seems like PML-N Sindh President Ghaus Ali Shah tried to barter Rs 25 crore as blood money but Nabil Gabol a close family member of In memory of Shahzeb Khan rejected the offer and smugly countered to give a bounty of Rs 30 crore if the murderers surrendered to the police.

The Family has been categoric to deny any possibility of compromise and strictly want justice. Im sure the family may be under tremendous pressure and applaud them for holding their ground.

PML-N’s financial wizardry – Sayem Ali

PML-N's WizardrySayem Ali digs into PML-N’s chest thumping rant “most experienced economics team” Sayem has obliged us with a good a holistic factual comparison of the economic performance of PML in the two stints they have been in power – to show that it is dismal even racked against the economic tenures of Zia, Musharraf, BB’s two tenures

“The SBP Handbook of Statistics 2010 shows that the Nawaz Sharif government’s economic performance was the worst amongst all civilian or military government in Pakistan’s.

Average growth during Nawaz Sharifs two stints in power was only 4.1%, which is significantly lower than Ziaul Haq (5.9%), Musharraf (5.1%) and even lower than Benazir Bhutto’s two stints in power (5%)

PMLN performance was not only bad but it also deteriorated during Nawaz Sharifs second stint in power during February 1997 to October 1999. The economy expanded at only 3.1 percent during this time, which is the lowest pace of growth for any government on record.

To give you perspective it is exactly as bad as the performance of the current PPP led government, with average growth of 3.1 percent between FY09 to FY13. So while the PML-N rightly criticises the dismal performance of President Zardari’s five years in power, it compares its own equally woeful performance with the Asian Tigers?

.. With by far the worst performance of any civilian or military government, the ‘experience’ of the PML-N’s financial wizards is exactly the reason why Nawaz Sharif should replace them immediately”
