Sick of Musharraf lovers – a factual rant

Guest Post by Saira Ansari

I’m very disturbed, disappointed and sick to death to see the amount of facebook’ers on my list who think Musharraf’s leaving has been a catastrophe for Pakistan. Just because a new evil, a.k.a Zardari, is in the house does not mean that the previous evil is now a good man. A “leader” as some say. That’s our problem – as an entire nation. We forget and we repeat our mistakes over and over again.

People left right and centre have been levelling accusations at me, and countless others like myself, that we support Zardari. Unfortunately no one takes out 5 minutes to ask if that is so. Let me save you the time…we don’t. And no, he is NOT democratically elected. Hierarchic / Monarchic rule within the party does not ensure a democratic candidate, so stop ranting that its democracy that’s bad. We, the people, have been cheated again. The actual institution has been wronged.

I will get hate messages and mail after this because I get them often for my stance. Those who know me well know my passion for this country and its welfare so at least I can’t be labelled for propaganda as my other friends and colleagues are. But I must have my say – whether or not you bother to read the entire note.

It might seem like an attack on all you who support Musharraf, but unfortunately he was a friend of the wealthy and his circles included the elite and the ruling elite (I use the terms separately so that the few elite members in my list are spared the mercy of being called PML-Q-ians).

His ruling party looted and spent generously. The corruption meter Musharraf used himself to oust Nawaz Sharif has rated the corruption during his past 8 years government rule at least 20-40% more corrupt than that of Benazir or Nawaz Sharif…. and that is quite a task to achieve! Don’t believe me – do some research.

Of course all of you will lament his going. You thought he was fighting for the country, and the economy was oh-so-booming and justice was being handed out to all and sundry.

If you think this way then:

  1. None of you had your father/brother/son/husband picked up by intelligence forces, sold to America and other countries for bounty money, threatened torture and death to you and your extended family for searching for your family member.
    • The worst insult – Musharraf announcing that all the missing persons had actually just run away from their homes and/or were jihadi terrorists. Yes Mr. Musharraf that’s a very smart thing to say – since it really worked for you to pull out a name from your list every time a suicide bombing happened.
      • I have met the families of the missing persons in a very high level semi-secretive meeting arranged by HRCP and Amnesty, a couple of years back, and I met normal people with normal lives – just like yours and mine, but maybe a bit more harsher – suddenly flung into chaos.
      • I met a 10 year old boy who was picked up alongside his father and uncle and saw his father being tortured. His father still isn’t back.
      • I met the murdered journalist Hayat-ullah’s brother who had gone missing with his brother but had been released while his brother killed. The brother too was killed months after I met him.

    • How is this the war on terror? It’s more like the war of terror. Why are we being auctioned to satiate an ever-hungry monster’s desire to colonize the world? (USA for those who didn’t get that)
  2. None of you care to find out what happened on May 12, 2007, when Karachi went under siege and people on all sides were senselessly killed, roads blocked, Edhi ambulances attacked and drivers killed – and NO action was taken. But dancing and celebrating the Punjab qabza group government continued in Islamabad.
    • The Karachi bridge collapsing after that seemed trivial and really required no justice. Because a few poor people died and Pakistan can do without some more mouths to feed.
  3. All of you and your mothers/sisters/daughters/friends/wives have not been raped, or better yet gang-raped. Then you probably believe that rape is supposed to be silenced and that Mukhataran Mai case was “so over-done”. Musharraf was right when he had Mukhataran Mai put on the ECL (Exit Control List) so that the image of Pakistan would not be destroyed.
    • And all of you at some time have visited countries abroad, or if you’re lucky like me, were probably born abroad so you don’t have to get raped to get an American visa. Musharraf seemed to think that’s why us ladies in Pakistan liked to get raped. Again you doubt me, check online for direct quotes.
  4. You are also one of those people who’s countless acres of land were not snatched in Balochistan and Sindh and handed for a pittance to army officers who then minted a fortune in selling them later. That’s because you don’t live in Balochistan or NWFP and have your own little place in a Pakistani-suburbia.
  5. You probably also think that Balochis are terrorists and should be tackled with the way they are for wanting to break Pakistan.
    • In the past 8 years or so media coverage of Balochistan was banned. No one knew what was happening there because the General didn’t see it fit for you to know.
    • So while they were being killed they had other trivial things to worry about too:
      • No gas – because they provide all to you me and the rest of Pakistan
      • No electricity – because why would tribals need it
      • No CNG – because…they have cars?
      • No roads – no CNG, no cars, why need roads?
      • All the minerals, discovered and potential sites, being sold to the yens and the dollars and the pounds while they get nothing
      • And the budget allocation – my God it has been an insult each time their share has been announced.
    • But you say that it serves the tribal Sardars right. Because there are NO other regular people, middle class, students, poor, old, unwell people in Balochistan – only Sardars.
    • Tell me – why was Pakistan made? Were we not all being denied our basic rights back then? The breaking up of a country to form our country is celebrated – yet when a province, hounded and ignored since Pakistan’s inception now demands their rights or separation you call them villains and terrorists. Damn hypocrisy I say.
  6. You agree the media has lost control and attacked Musharraf when it was he who “allowed” them to come.
    • Again, my lovelies, the free media revolution had started in 1989 and most of these new channels came when the new satellite technology came. Not because they were always barred and Musharraf had an epiphany to allow them.
    • It’s shameful how Daily Times Najam Sethi has sold his soul to the pimped out Governor Salman Taseer to keep his position. Why don’t you question his stand?
    • And it’s time anyway to wake up and see what’s happening in ever corner of your country. This again does not mean I support substandard and/or yellow journalism
    • And if you still think, like Musharraf did, that all the channels sucked and reported wrong information and deserved to be banned in November 2007, then can you please explain why BBC, CNN, Al-Jazeera and all other international news channels were also banned?
    • MEDIA MUST BE FREE. Those who are not interested in changing the status quo of this country please change the damn channel to a cheap Indian soap opera which everyone seems to enjoy.
  7. You think that suspending the constitution was fine and it solved issues. I talk about a constitution, which is not just formed on a whim. It is a legislation almost sacred to a country. It is based on the universal declaration of human rights that are meant to apply to all and sundry; that ensures basic rights to speech, to thought, to movement, to association, to expression, to religion, to vote, to protest, to demand, to information. If the law guarantees you this security NO one should be allowed to manipulate it to say otherwise. No situation allows for the government to tell me to shut up and sit at home and not participate in democratic (or non-democratic as it might be) change. The government is my servant. It exists to take care of me and look after my country. I pay it to do so and it enjoys a very large amount of luxuries on this behalf alone.
  8. You probably also felt that the activists, journalists, lawyers and students deserved to be beaten up, tortured and arrested.
    • Then Pakistan’s constitution should be “cleaned up” and our rights to protest, freedom of assembly, freedom of association, legal rights before detention and arrest should all be scrapped, because the General didn’t find them fit to implement.
    • The emergency was declared to minimize violence, quote unquote. Read Washington post’s article, written by Musharraf himself. The comments on the article are deeply revealing. The suicide attacks still happened. During the emergency the violence against citizens was abominable. More than 5000 people jailed. I myself made a list of 1000 arrests for my work. People, civilians, activists, lawyers, students, little children beaten up like dogs. Is that security? Is that how you “control society”? By breaking their bones, ripping off their clothes and kicking them in the gut. I have names and pictures, arrested and manhandled. Honestly speaking the army, our protector ended up doing more damage to us than anyone else. The police had as usual jumped in to join the party. The fight for judiciary might have the face of Chaudry Iftikhar and you might not like him but the truth is that judiciary must be free and impartial. Arresting lawyers because “they could incite trouble” is about the biggest hogwash there is.
  9. You agree with military rule for the benefit of the nation. The army unrightfully so taxes us to our bones for “security reasons”, even gobbling up the share for education and development, yet Lal masjid brewed a few kilometres from the presidents’ house with mass ammunitions, ak 47s machine guns, grenades, gas masks…that too in the most heavily policed city in the country. Is that how the army protects us and itself
    • Sadly, because of Musharraf the armed forces really have suffered. And thousands of men, Jawans not Generals, who come from all corners of the country and bear freezing cold and scorching heat to sacrifice their lives for the love of their country, bear the brunt of their military leaders’ bad choices. The army’s job is to protect our borders and that’s what it should do. We received billions of dollars in aid to tackle terrorism. Not only did terrorism increase, but also there have been solid links of financial and logistical support found between the ISI and the terrorists. Who sold us to the Americans and allowed Boucher and Condoleeza to dictate terms? Where does the army get its funding/training/weapons/luxuries from? I’m sure you’ll like reading Dr. Ayesha Siddiqua’s book Military Inc. I enjoyed it and I haven’t found any quotes from the army denying it. Except for maybe banning the book because reading is so bad for Pakistanis. They’ll start to think.
  10. You say Shut up Saira – do you know what he did for our economy? Yes what did he do? Watching a show on TV last year about Pakistan’s “booming economy” I was surprised to hear a very Mary Antoinette-ish remark made by one of the young pro-government economists “so what if Punjab has a wheat crisis. They’ll get something else to eat”.
    • The reason Pakistan’s GDP went up was because of two reasons – the banking sector and the telecommunication sector. The Pakistan banking sector has one of the worst interest rates in the world – how sweet is that since you and your daddies don’t really need to take out any loans – but many other’s do and the banking sector feeds of their carcasses. Nowhere else in the world would Citibank have been allowed to hound a person (and thousand others like him) till he committed suicide.
  11. Coming to Citibank – don’t even bring me to Shaukat (Shortcut) Aziz. The man is undoubtedly smart and he could have done wonders for us – yet he too looted us and helped the ruling class mint some more. mint mint mint.
    • The Punjabi ruling class however was not content and sold and/or hoarded our flour and sugar, so that the hungry stomachs would dish out more when food was scarce.
    • Don’t get me started on the chief justice case. You don’t like him because you think the lawyers brought anarchy to the streets. Well the Chief Justice really should have been kicked in the boot. After all he stopped Shaukat Aziz, Musharraf and all their cronies from extreme profiteering in the Steel mill case, and he asked about the missing persons – the damn missing persons. Oh and Suo Motu…he played with that little Latin term that the government came to associate as a swear word.

And FINALLY, all you people lamenting his exit and the arrival of the new vulturesit was Musharraf’s gift to us, the NRO, which legalised their return and it was Musharraf who pardoned all of Benazir’s, Zardari’s and the Sharif brothers’ cases so that he could get a safe exit in return– one tyrant to another. Mushie knows best.

I don’t even know where to stop. I talk from facts. Hundreds and thousands of files, numbers, cases, stats and complaints lying on my desk and those of my colleagues. Colleagues who got arrested for assembling at the office when the emergency was declared. Colleagues who passionately fight for people’s rights – the same rights that allow you and me the simple liberties we take for granted. We meet people who were abused by Musharraf, those who were abused before him and no doubt those who will be abused by the new monster that has narcissistically named itself the people’s government.

For god sakes wake up you slumbering fools. Musharraf’s exit does not have to mean the return of another evil period for us. Why cant we make it mean something more and bring in more educated people into the services and politics. Talk, speak out, and demand action and accountability so that these goons don’t get to loot us again. Lets not be quiet and say lawyers are liars and politicians are pansies. Maybe if we just worked just as hard as making things work as we do in criticising, things could get better. Start by doing your bit – bit by bit – and wait for the change to happen. Don’t sit and complain in your comfortable houses and cars. Don’t do that because it doesn’t help anyone.

Or just don’t damn well fornicate to produce a generation that will suffer at your expense.

What you have to say about this ? Did Nawaz Shareef ever try to defend his attack on Supreme Court ? I accept his blenders, but at least the good thing about him is, he is accepting his mistakes and trying to defend his actions.

What Musharraf gets, if he is trying to become innocent in front of Dr Afia (Respected) family ? and telling them "Mein be gunah hon" ?

      Mir sahab!!

And I am sick of people who keep saying that they are sick of Musharraf lovers without giving up a legitimate reason ? like u do.

Sorry it was your first reply and I shouldn't reply like this but we have to be practical. We kicked Musharraf and we have a political setup on which no body trusts :D.

I know you won't agree wid me, I have been shouting since my first comment on this post (which is disappear now) that compare the guys we have in our political setup all togather (not only current one) and you will find that Musharraf is only who is not curropted, not having any foreign account, no property (sara-e-mehal) outside the country blah blah blah.

Musharraf brought back Zardari and company with NRO. This is biggest reason that we don't want him back. And if he did it because of Uncle Sam then we don't want him even more. And lets face if he must be like 75 years or so. He will be needing a lot Viagras now.

      Agha Usman,

Musharaf surely doesn't have any Foreign accounts, NOT any that we know of. And just to add a bit to your limited knowledge, he has mansions in London and Dubai. Now the question is, how does he manage it there since the president ship is gone? Foreign accounts? That's what I thought.

Musharraf was not elected nor zardari was elected after Benazir's death, why they didn't elected next leader instead of making his son a leader is it democracy?

Sick of supporters? What part of Pakistan do you live in? Why do you have to be so oblivious to everything around you? Criticizing is probably the easiest way to squeeze out of a situation which you've done perfectly!

Democracy is what YOU had asked for, you got it … look what all it brought with it … Open your eyes, what options do you actually have if not support someone who atleast didn't turn this land into a freaking jungle in 9 years time!

you say musharraf's friends were the elite … Name one leader in today's time who is not friends with the elite of that nation? Where do you live? Musharraf needs to provide explanations for Bugti and Lal Masjid? I can't believe you don't write anything about how Bugti was trying to create a state within a state … I don't see you criticizing him on firing rockets and disrupting national assets! I don't see you criticizing the administrators of Lal Masjid on trying to go against the state!

Please! Open your eyes … if Musharraf is not the answer, he's atleast better than the lot YOU elected DEMOCRATICALLY!

Look around you, "think-out-of-the-box" … Do WE actually need ILLITERATE democratically elected "DUMB" leaders?!?

Let's stop whining for once and let's just try to turn things around …

again hogwash democracy doesnt really work. Your missing the point. Why should we as a nation settle for the lesser evil everytime, because heres the kicker.

when you let the lesser evil grow it replaces the older one. Its an infinite regress weve been bouncing along for 20 years now.

Perhaps the country isnt quite ready for genuine democracy and maybe it isnt. No system is flawless but that is a seperate debate.

The fact of the matter is Musharraf's slate is just as messy as everyone elses and even if you argue it isnt as bad it still doesnt change the fact that its bad.

You do not go around bullying constitutions ala yeltsin and get away with it.

And i can't help stop laughing when "literate" individuals like yourself actually claim that pakistani's were SOLD to the US in the last regime! 🙂

They weren't … not one pakistani was sold (Do your homework)!

And as far as the security forces picking up people is concerned, you've mentioned you met families who were perfectly normal … I, on the other hand, have met families who lost members too, but they weren't "NORMAL" … What side does the "see-saw" tilt to now? We can sit here and rant about things all day long …

And please … do your homework again … 2004, Pakistan was termed as a role model economy for the entire world … look it up on google … see blogs … our interest rates are NOW the worst in the world, they weren't earlier …

In your last para you ask us not to complain sitting on our sofa's … you ask us to work hard … from where i look at it, I see you whining … I see you complaining … I can say for sure, if i was to ask you to jot down "negative" points of every government, you could do that too … you'd probably declare everyone unfit to govern us … All i'm saying is that Musharraf's probably our best chance now because we're not going to get another leader from within the ranks and God for sure isn't going to come down to set things straight for us!

Mr. Mahboob, please for God sake stop being myopic. The article narrates all the ills that musharraf government left as a legacy and you are saying he is the best bet. A 'leader' who messed up so bad that we have lost our dignity in front of the global crowd now apologises and say that he wants to do good is all too political and never sincere. Mark my words.

The role model economy you are referring to … lol … ever heard of the strategy, "It is more important to be attractive than to be right". If not, try to understand it to the roots my brother. You will get the answer.

And if you really want to be positive … Scratch out the past and the puppets and the tried ones … think new, think beyond !

I wish I could have write this article then I must have use some hard tone while she gives the less of that. A very nice article and like the voice of my heart.

General Ayub khan left us with General Yahya khan saying Ab sab log Ayub Kuttae ko yaad karain gae and the same did by Musharaf when he left us with the Zardari and Co.

This is democracy which is basically misused by the present government. We people didnt select them not any1 of them coz only 25% or so gave votes in the last election and thats what our mistake lies.

Also one more thing that writer wrote that Present government is bad doesn't mean that you choose the last bad guy. Choosing between the two bad is too bad.

This situation requires people support who are sick and tired of the inflation, corruption, terrorism, etc but they have fear of God knows what that they didnt come to make it happen, The Inqalaab.

Haven't you see the power of a normal guy lives in Pakistan when he wants to move and join shoulder to shoulder with many of people like him and asked government to restore the Cheif Justice and others because he thinks that Chief Justice is a right guy and he do the justice which Mushi and Co. doesnt like. Haven't you see that power??? You will soon see it again when lots and lots of people come on the road and go to the homes and shelters of the corrupt politicians and bring them on roads and do the justice openly.

Dont let yourself burned in the heat and if you are a Pakistani then stand up and raise your voice against this corrupt system.

no one said musharraf is a hero. he is the lesser of two evils. your rant, while accurate in the most part, is completely pointless and irrelevant. itd be different if the ppp had succeeded in fixing even half of the problems you point out. instead they have compounded and added to them. they were elected riding a wave of pro democratic sentiment, for which benazir had become an icon, not on any real merits of their own. Once here, they failed even to provide what had been their trump card, democracy. instead they unashamedly continue the monarchic line of benazir, exploiting the legacy of the original bhuttos popularity. So f*ck democracy and f*ck you too. F*ck your elitist notions and generalised deprecation of the people. You manufacture thoughts to put into the head your retarded stereotype of the average Pakistani, who is of course infinitely inferior to you. "Oh i live in Karachi and i think Balochis are Sardars, of course if i had moved out of Pakistan i would understand it better." Where are your solutions? Well hey i dont agree with Musharraf but thats ok because i dont like Zardari either. Well who the f*ck WOULD you vote for? "My colleagues and i fight passionately for pathetic retards like you cos im wonderwoman in a green and white bra!" spare me. i dont need the f*cking justice league. what i DO need is financially redistributive socialism, the creation and perpetuation of a middle class as much from the uplifting of the lower class as from the reasonable taxation of the oppressive upper class, leading to an egalitarian economy where the relatively poor can pull their own weight and the relatively rich afulfill their obligations to society. i need this whether it flows from dictatorship or from democracy. authoriatarianism is infinitely better than incompetence.

NRO gave a chance to all political parties to participate and start from a clean slate. The people elected the current government. The free meda was not free and pushed for who paid it.

There isn't enough gas in Baluchistan to support all of Pakistan so no use ranting on that. Too expensive to drill for what is there because of the geology small individual deposits.

Saira, I 100% agree with you, I too am sick of these silly people. I now also realize that it's not Musharraf or Altaf Hussain or other such Traitors who are at fault.

Who is actually at fault is our nation, we ourselves. Because we have chosen to shut down our minds and eyes and not be involved into any kind of logical thinking process. We as a nation specially our youth, have chosen to be led like sheep and thus we give Musharraf, Altaf Hussain and such traitors of the nation an opportunity to lead us like sheep.

I am deeply aggravated with this situation. Most people don't have any logical reasoning for fanning Musharraf and other traitors of the soil and yet they like such people on vague standards like ability to humiliate journalists, ability to speak boldy (without considering what is the CONTENT of what they're speaking and whether what they speak is even TRUE or NOT.

With a deeply grieved heart, I can only say at this moment … God Bless our Nation !!! God Bless our Nation !!! and give it the ability to make RIGHT CHOICES and set the RIGHT IDEALS …

Two wrongs don't make one right. I see a lot of people justifying Musharaf's return by a lack of leadership in the country? I don't think the author ever defended the current government and therefore, suggesting that it was okay for Mush to have relations with the elite just because the current govt. has relations with the elite is, sadly, stupid.

Army stays in the barracks. The punishment for army men meddling in govt through a coup or whatever, is, death. Sadly, we can not have a democracy until the judiciary is free because it can then ensure that the actual 'leaders' come up the ranks and the President of the country does not rule the country just because his wife was an ex-PM of the country. I mean, what sort of a qualification is that? He should sell theatre tickets like he used to.

Well written article. Couple of exxagerated points but I might be wrong. Things are not as bad as they seem, they are worse.

General (r) Syed Pervez Musharraf shamelessly victimized the “Sons of Soil” (Pakistani Sindhis) on the basis of racial discrimination for continuous 09 years so much so not a single mega development project was launched in Sindh to benefit them direct. Such people should have been behind the bars. I am sorry a “small gang of people” is supporting this racist and chauvinist ex-President who not only insulted the chief justice of supreme court of Pakistan (SCoP) but also put about 40 judges of apex court along with their families in detention for long time. He violated the Constitution repeatedly.

He was such a corrupt person who sold Pakistan Stell Mills in only Rs 21 billion – the same amount the Mills was erected by Shaheed Z A Bhutto. For this purpose, he changed the portfolio of his crony minister Hamayun Akhtar and made him Incharge for one day only who approved the sale of Stell Mills along with land worth Rs 240 billion.

In Sindh, he appointed two chief ministers – one after another. First chief minister was “gay” whereas another chief minister Dr Arbab Rahim was a person who lacked manners, ettiquestes and wisdom as he was “Bhhangi” (sweeper) CM. All was done to insult Pakistani Sindhis.

The NFC Award which he gave, Sindh suffered Rs 70 billion (Rs 14 billion per year) as pointed out by MQM senior minister Syed Sardar Ahmed and his statement was printed in Dawn.

Racist Musharraf repeated his claim that “He was Sindhi” and that was not less than fraud. Such people should have been tried by UN Commission working against Apartheid for observing racial discrimination against “Sons of Soil” (Pakistani Sindhis).

Musharraf had claimed Sindhis are not capable to be appointed as federal secretary (despite Sindhis became Presidents, Prime Ministers, chief justices of supreme court of Pakistan etc.,)

Musharraf did not appoint Sindhis on higher post during his tenure due to his hatred. Nevertheless, he tried to get “political benefit” by appointing Ms Shamshad as Governor State Bank as she born in Sindh and had no further association with Sindh.

The people of Pakistan are unable to understand why he has not joined MQM for which he worked for the last many years even when he was in Army. Ms Benazir Bhutto in her book “Daughter of the East” (Revised edition) had mentioned she wanted to appoint General Musharraf as her Military Secretary as such case came to her table for approval but Agencies reported he had links with an ethnic group (obviously MQM) of Karachi.

General (r) Musharraf must be tried for violating the Constitution under Article 6, in the interest of the country.

I welcome his joining in politics and advise him to come to Pakistan and contest election to know his “popularity” among masses.

Everyone, we are wasting our time discussing Musharraf here. If you are talking about INQUILAB then bring it bhai … sun sun ker kaan pak gai hein.

I don't understand why this media is shouting on Musharraf. To my knowledge he is the same guy who brought all these channel and give proper independence to the media (bear the fact of emergency). Later on, if he force to shut down some media channels for some months … whats bad in that. Common you are there because of him.

Kia chakkar hai samajh sey bahar hai. Anyway, this discussion seems quit useless, that is why I am unsubscribing from this thread.

Its very obvious that all our politicians care less about the nation and more about themselves. Here's the thing though, there is a lot that goes on than what we see on the news channels. I can't stand it when people blame Musharraf for dragging us into the war on terror. Sorry to burst your bubble, but we didn't really have alot of options. And obviously when you do have to become "friends" with someone (namely a country called USA) then obviously you have to return the favour they do for you by giving u billions of dollars.

The thing with Musharraf though was that when US pushed him to do something he would only take a step closer to it. With Mr. Z all they have to do is "SHOW HIM THE MONEY".

Yes I do understand that alot of things went wrong towards the last 2 years of his rule but have we forgotten the first few years. Who can say that Pakistan didn't develop?

Let's face reality, there is absolutely no chance that we're going to see a new face in politics anytime soon. Frankly because no sane and honest person wants to go into politics. And ofcourse theres the course of the educated class never casting votes. Sorry to say but as of now we're stuck between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. And frankly speaking Id choose the Deep Blue Sea (Musharraf). Atleast he wont take 230 people and his children on his foreign visits. Corruption exists everywhere, its just a matter of choosing the less corrupt person.

And lastly, even though I do believe that Dr. Aafia is most likely innocent, we don't know the whole picture.

ok so going through the last few comments made by Musharraf's supporters I do kind of agree with you on the fact that most of his supporters can't back up their support for him. But I too am one of his supporters and I'd like to add on the comments I have already made a couple of days back.

Regarding DEMOCRACY, don't forget that Musharraf was the one who from day 1 wanted to bring democracy to Pakistan. And I think he has largely succeeded (atleast more so than the others). The PML-Q govt was the first one to actually see through the whole term.

With regards to the NRO, I do believe that was a very foolish thing. But again that came along with the "friendship" we had promised to the USA.

As for the judges, can you honestly say that CH. Iftikhar was fighting for the people of Pakistan? No. He, like everyone else, was fighting for power. He is largely held responsible by many for the incidents that took place in Karachi on 12th of May. Although I do believe in an independent judiciary I do not think his main aim was to establish one. It was just a good reason to give to the people and gather their support.

And why, again, are we treating Bugti as a victim rather than a nuisance? Wasn't he responsible for disrupting Sui Gas operations? As for ignoring Balochistan, there has been no government thus far that has given go-ahead to so many projects for the development of Balochistan than Musharraf.

And as for the Lal Masjid case. Nobody seems to know how and why they were able to get so much ammunition in there but there was no other option left than an attack. The first shot was fired at the army from their side and even after that Musharraf was adamant to resolve the situation peacefully. At his press conference at the NDC in Islamabad several jouranlists asked him why he was refusing to take military action and he replied saying "abhi aap mujh se pooch rahe hain k kyun military action nahi liya ja raha. agar mein abhi le chuka hota tou aap poochte military action kyun liya." He tried his best to resolve the situation peacefully before opting for a military attack.

That said, Yes we did suffer alot during the last 2 years of his tenure. He did make some bad decisions. But look at it from another angle. Were those situations his fault? Was it his fault that we got caught in between the War on Terror? Was it his fault that he had to follow the orders coming from Washington?

and lastly I would like to ask you, do you think that there is anyone who could have handled the situation in a better manner? I think it became a question of choosing an option that would bring the least harm. There was never a "safe" option.

Unlike the rest of these supporters, Ms. Saira Ansari, I would love to sit down with you some day and talk about Mr. Musharraf's achievements and flaws 🙂

I think people are just jealous of Musharaff because he supports all elite leaders and he is also one of them and he doesnt care about poor people dieing, come on lets face it now we have to make Pakistan's image as a rich country instead of showing all the poor helpless people dieing 24/7 .

Its about time and only musharaff being the great elite group leader can do it sophisticatedly. We are still way back thinking and crying over the old poor dead ones. Dr afia is also one of them, lets get over her case now, everyday women die like this nobody gets media attention on it, why making her so special? It was her faith, maybe Allah has written that for her. Anyway now you all can hate me for writing all this but i was just opening your eyes from the bitter unacceptable side, its a short life enjoy and get away with it people.

Dr.Afia had an American Passport. Pakistan could not do anything even if it wanted to. You can't get involved in matters of other country's citizen. American's are not allowed to hold more then one nationality. She must have given up her Pakistan passport for US one. I do disagree with the punishment she has been given and i also believe that US judiciary has been discriminative and racist towards her.

Akbar bugti had no right to bomb sui that delivered gas to whole of pakistan. he was just another triblal freak whose fathers were given some authority by the british to keep them silent. He had no right to decide for Pakistan. Dr.Abdul Qadir as much a hero he is, he gave Pakistan a bad name. He left pakistan in a very difficult position and he should appreciate that he was not handed over to US for his actions. He owes it to musharraf. All these idiots think that Pakistan owes them something. Our Chief justice will be honoured to know that he is one of top ten useless monkey crap in my opinion. He done nothing good for the country. He lets his lawyers who supported him at the time of the marches, to rape and kill a christian girl. All such people think in their own interest and when one guy shows some stick, the public has a problem. I want my country to prosper and be respect and able to defende itself from anyone in the world and by pointing fingers and declaring people kafir etc does no help. Had Musharraf given DR.AQ Khan to America, Musharraf and his clan of thugs would be tried in Hague. Do you think (if) AQ Khan sold the recipes to Iran and N. Korea, he did it on his own and that some pimps in GHQ didn't make money out of that?

Then only reason Dr. AQ Khan was not handed over was to save some asses in GHQ.

You need to learn a lot. This write up shows nothing but your incompetence towards facts and figures…

The terrorist in Lal Masjid shouldn have been nuked on day one – atleast we could have saved the life of soldiers who died in that operation.

Dr Aafia – she is a US citizen, they can do whatever they like with her. Bringing her back would not change anything for the masses. She is where is she because of her own actions..

Chief Justice – Lawyer movement was funded by Nawaz Sharif – there is ample proof of this. Under his blind eye the sialkot brothers case is being neglected, forget about everything else

About free media – just speak with Hamid Mir and Kamran Khan and ask them about when did media really got freedom and also if they were not picked up by Sharif government because of their reports….

Saira Bibi – instead of having this debate here lets have a live video conference and I will personally put your mind to rest about every allegation you have placed here.

Its a challenge – you decide the time and the date 🙂

Musharraf made mistakes everyone does but point remains, he was still better than whole of PPP which has clearly proven out to be the worst political government ever elected. I just scan your blog as i support musharraf's good deeds. What he did wrong, is much lesser than as compared to Bibi's name enchashers. We must have heard the term "THE NECESSARY EVIL". Musharraff was the necessary evil, If he fucked a proportion of Pakistanis due to his america-nawazi, then u must know democracy is not for Pakistan. Democracy is ideal for people who are educated, literate, sensible, who care for their decisions, who have power to ask their representatives, have power to throw them out of power if they show non competency.

Unfortunately, due to our own elected leaders and dictators (lets count musshi too :D) they are still illiterate, fucked up shits, who don't think who they are electing, infact you must agree that most of the votes are casted by force, by fake hands. You can't deny if you take part in elections (via voting ofcourse, coz to contest elecction, u need to be superior). I gave my vote to mqm, not because of Their beloved Qaid (Bhai,,,LOL) but because of Mustafa kamal. He did his work. Lets assume that he also misappropriated funds in millions, still he is more valuable than any other bullshit crap. Pakistan need only such guys, whether he is mustafa, he is mushhi nawaz of zardari.
