The only Good Thing said in the Press Conference

Zardari and BilawalSince the Press Conference in Larkana this blog has been a witness to my discontent on watching Asif Ali Zardari assuming control of Pakistan Peoples Party, not that he did not have control but simply watching him at the helm scares the shit out of me. The thought of one day Pakistan will be ruled by this ruthless feudal lord who reeks of corruption. Appointing Bilawal might on the other hand been a party saving decision, dictatorship no doubt but in from the perspective of PPP he can potentially keep the sinking ship afloat. Though Zardari’s direct involvement will most likely lead to a shattering of this dynasty.

All said there is one said one good thing that Asif Zardari said which must be appreciated, he is known to lie and I have my doubts and suspicions on other items but this short excerpt from his press conference quite literally saved this country from burning itself to the ground

Now we would like to pay tribute to those martyrs who lost their lives in protecting Benazir, they were Punjabis. They were my friends that I happened to meet in jails of Punjab where I was imprisoned for 8 years and they sacrificed their lives. They were loyal friends and party supporters. – Asif Ali Zardari

It would not have been difficult for a grieving Sindhi party to lay the blame for the assassination of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto to squarely lie on the shoulders of Punjabis. Had he said that, it would have resulted in instant riots throughout the country. I must admit he talked about the federation, he talked about stabilizing the country and he talked about Pakistan in general, sadly but I truly belied he ‘lied’ and does not mean it at all only catered these words for public consumption [apologies, but this is my personal opinion]. As one day he will most probably back off from these statements, I say this as Pakistan knows him all too well, but this Punjabi statement quite literally saved Pakistan TODAY

English Transcript of the PPP press conference

Some brilliant work done by Dr. Farrukh Malik on his blog Silence where he has meticulously transcribed the entire PPP press conference held at Naudero, Larkana for us in English. A few sections I choose to quote here, while the entire version can be found on his blog.

Makhdoom Ameen Fahim

After the rituals of Soyem of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, we happened to convene the meeting of Central Executive Committee (CEC) of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). We set together and in that meeting the will of Mohtarma was read to us by Mr. Bilawal and in that will Mohtarma wrote that if in case I am no more, Asif Ali Zardari will be the Chairman of the party, the CEC endorsed it but Asif Ali Zardari said that he want to give this responsibility to his son, this was also endorsed by the house and he was elected as the chairman of the party according to the will of Mohtarma and we endorsed it happily. Now I will request Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to speak with you himself.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

I am thankful to the CEC for posing the trust in me as the chairman of PPP, like all chairmen of PPP, I will stand as symbol of federation, the partys long historic struggle for democracy will continue with renewed vigor and I stand committed to the stability of the federation. My mother always said, “Democracy is the best revenge

Sunroof injury couldn’t kill Bhutto: Toyota official – ?

It is being reported in Daily News & Analysis that an official of the Toyota company that manufactures the vehicle states that “We are convinced that it can’t be a lever (that caused the fatal head injury) but we are still looking into more details,” According to the official, the lever could not have caused the head injury as it was installed inside the vehicle and was at least six centimeters from the edge of the sunroof. At the same time, he did not dispute the fact that there could have been bloodstains on the lever. “This is understandable. If she was hit in the head by a bullet, bloodstains could have been left on the lever.”

Reading the entire news report and looking at the official pictures of the Land Cruiser which was being used by Benazir Bhutto one tends to wonder if this vehicle was actually bullet proof?. If it were, then were the modifications made by Toyota themselves, I could be wrong but armor plating and bullet proofing is is done by outside contractors and generally not undertaken by the manufacturers themselves.

Would any of the readers here care to speculate on this issue as I feel its an issue that needs to be thought out as it remains the ‘official version’ of the slaying of the PPP Chairperson in Rawalpindi, as presented by the Government of Pakistan. Though the story stands in some conflict with the some pictures that were first published on this blog

PPP to contest election & Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Chair of PPP

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has just now addresses a press conference while Makhdoom Amin Faheem and Asif Ali Zardari flanked him on the side. Bilawal spoke in English but emotions got the better of him. Asif Zardari when addressing the press conference announced that PPP will contest the elections on time and confirmed the reports that Benazir wanted the Pakistan Peoples Party to be led by Asif Ali Zardari as Co-Chair.

Sad to see this nomination system prevailing in a so called democratic party. I feel its time for civil society to re-group and re-strategies its struggle and start the campaign against the elections, PPP under the leadership of Asif Zardari can only mean further doom and Musharraf at the helm of affairs being President of Pakistan. God Help us, with this recent development Benazir death changes nothing and crooks continue to feed on this country of ours. I now strongly feel the elections must be boycotted by all parties and civil society should refrain from going to the polls

BB’s letter names Pervaiz Elahi, Arbab, Ijaz Shah, & Hameed Gul

It is being revealed that Benazir Bhutto has named former Punjab chief minister Pervaiz Elahi, former Sindh chief minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Intelligence Bureau chief Ijaz Shah and ex-ISI chief Hameed Gul as possible suspects in her assassination in a letter written before her death.

This letter was written before her arrival in Karachi on October 18th and after the bomb blast she told the media that she had told President General Retired Musharraf about a few names but did not disclose them. The general assumptions amongst the intelligentsia of Pakistan stand to be spot on. Not a name more and not a name less. Did they have a hand in December 27th assassinations, one might suspect so, but the motive for each of them was stronger then ever specially upon her arrival on October 18th.

BB ‘wills’ Bilawal as Chair & Zardari as Co-Chair

With all due respect for the slain leader of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto, today’s revelation that Bilawal Zardari was proposed by BB as being nominated as Chairman of PPP while his father Asif Ali Zardari would be his Co-Chairman just goes to prove that Pakistan People’s Party runs on non-egalitarian democratic nominations. It is no surprise considering the party itself never conducted democratic elections within the cadre and instead Benazir upon her return to Pakistan got herself appointed as Life Chairperson of her party.

I shudder at the simple thought that Asif Ali Zardari might take control of the party, his previous years as corruption weren’t enough for us that we have to see him return to the throne yet again. It is quite apparent that his son Bilawal Zardari would have little objection or say in what his father proposes and does. I can only suspect that this will deepen the rift within the Pakistan People’s Party as there are other far more genuine candidates who have given their sweat and blood for PPP. Bilawal has barely step foot into Pakistan to understand the tumultuous climate while Asif Ali Zardari has an entire encyclopedia on corruption. Again I offer these critical views under solemn respect for the fallen leader of Pakistan

Bhutto’s Assassination Evidence Hosed Down

This video captured from a cell phone shows a shocking detail of how ruthlessly the Rawalpindi firefighters destroyed the crime scene. Some may argue that they might have scraped the scene completely before authorizing it to be cleansed. But with all the confusion surrounding the assassination and that too of an Ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan I would suspect they would work a lot harder then merely picking up the trash. No wonder they have their story all mixed up

Sherry Rehman saw Bullet Wounds, But why the Twist?

BB We Condemn TerrorismTo continue adding a twist to the entire controversy surrounding the assassination of PPP Chairperson and Ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan. Sherry Rehman vehemently refutes the claims made by the Government that Benazir had knocked her head on a lever on the side of the vehicle. Sherry Rehman insists that she saw a bullet wound on the side of the head while she bathed the fallen leader in the final ritual before her burial. She that her car was used to transport Benazir to hospital. “There was a bullet wound I saw that went in from the back of her head and came out the other side. “We could not even wash her properly because the wound was still seeping. She lost a huge amount of blood. Rehman accused the government of mounting a cover-up over Benazir’s death. “The hospital was made to change its statement. They never gave a proper report, she said. “I believe the interior ministry is saying that she died from some concussion that may have taken place against the sunroof. This is ridiculous, dangerous nonsense because it is a cover-up of what actually happened.

Bullet went from the back & came out the other sideThis blogger early today morning acquired the images that in someway does refute the statement made by the Government of Pakistan, but the question is why did the Musharraf propaganda team follow this line of action. This blogger feels that Musharraf saw this as yet another opportunity to redirect the blame onto Al-Qaieda, he did that successfully on Oct 18th, no video footage refuted his claims so he pulled it off. This time he was not so lucky as in broad day light everyone has a decent mobile camera to seize the action and these images quite literally screw up the entire propaganda. He needed the Al-Qaeda twist to prove to his supporters (read USA’s war on Terror) that this country is brimming with Al-Qaeda, a bomb blast here, a bomb blast in Karachi, a Bomb blast in Swat – heck its filled with the rotten bastards called Al-Qaeda. Lets not forget the Lal Masjid disaster and the May 12th Massacre while we are recalling historic events

They don’t blame Al-Qa’ida. They blame Musharraf: Robert Fisk

By Robert Fisk Published in The Independent UK.

This is an article worth reading where Robert Fisk places the right questions, we genuinely believe its not the work of Al-Qa’ida but instead an outcome of Musharraf’s eight year rule, few recent links here and here while this blog is full of statements condemning Musharraf practically since its inception in 2004. So as they say the writing was on the wall, only if someone dared to read the wall is the question, as they say better late then never but please save my country from the brink of disaster

Weird, isn’t it, how swiftly the narrative is laid down for us. Benazir Bhutto, the courageous leader of the Pakistan People’s Party, is assassinated in Rawalpindi attached to the very capital of Islamabad wherein ex-General Pervez Musharraf lives and we are told by George Bush that her murderers were “extremists” and “terrorists”. Well, you can’t dispute that.

Bilawal Zardari, the new PPP Chairman

It is just being announced that Bilawal Zardari, the 19 year old eldest son of Benazir Bhutto, will be the new Chairman of PPP. Personally I feel this might in effect be a good decision for the Bhutto dynasty but a major rift within the party would definitely be seen in short order, as Amin Faheem definitely had his eyes set on the top leadership. It may suit the American agenda perfectly as it would be easier to negotiate with Bilawal as compared to rehashing the entire negotiations with a new face in the PPP. More updates to follow as news comes in

UPDATED: Mobile pictures – Benazir was defintely shot dead before the Blast

New Images updated below: Considering all the commotion and fuss created by the government of Pakistan saying the called that Benazir Bhutto was not hit by the three bullets but instead she hit her head on some ‘lever’ of the sunroof. Last night I was contacted by a person via Orkut who had uploaded these images on his profile (now he has taken them off) he was offering to share his video to the extent that he gave his cell number in Islamabad, since his dial up did not permit transferring this heavy file.

On contacting him today he claimed that he was a PPP supporter and his party had instructed him not to share this with anyone. Later when a news reporter tried contacting him, his cell phone was switched off. I have two images to share with you which were initially taken off his Orkut Profile

The first image clearly shows Benazir Bhutto standing upright in the car through the sunroof waving to the crowd

benazir-before-shot-was-fired-thumb.jpg

The next image is just after the gun shots which were fired from the left but moments before the bomb blast. Here we see Benazir Bhutto not on the sunroof of the car most likely already shot and injured slumped inside

benazir-after-shot-was-fired-thumb.jpg

I sadly do not have the original video, though I tried very hard to get it. A source was in direct contact with the cameraman who actually shot the video and later uploaded the screen captures to show that he means serious business. He claimed to be in the security detail with Benazir Bhutto was riding on her car barely five minutes earlier but had to jump off as she exited the Liaquat Bagh venue. He was finding it difficult to upload the 56MB video file online so was ready to allow someone to help him get it readily available. Today morning he said that his cell phone was ringing off the hook with people clambering in the hunt for the video, hence forth he turned his cell phone off and had even removed the images from his Orkut profile.

Bhutto blames Musharraf if killed, email two months earlier

Benazir Bhutto in CarTwo months before her death, former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto sent an e-mail to her U.S. adviser and longtime friend, saying that if she were killed, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf would bear some of the blame. “Nothing will, God willing happen,” she wrote to Mark Siegel, her U.S. spokesman, lobbyist and friend.

“Just wanted u to know if it does in addition to the names in my letter to Musharaf of Oct 16nth, I wld hold Musharaf responsible. I have been made to feel insecure by his minions and there is no way what is happening in terms of stopping me from taking private cars or using tinted windows or giving jammers or four police mobiles to cover all sides cld happen without him.”Watch the video of Wolf Blitzer on CNN talking about this letter

Musharraf, hide all you might, but sadly you have been found wanting

Cause of death, Gun Shots or Sunroof? Govt foul play suspected

Assassination of Benazir-3.jpgThe first reports arriving the day Benazir died was three gun shots to the head resulting in her death, after she was buried today the Govt of Pakistan Interior Ministry spokesman Brig. Javed Iqbal Cheema offers a complete new explanation for the cause of death, he said that she was NOT killed because of the three gun shots but in fact while collapsing into the car immediately following the explosion of the bomb ‘she collapsed and while collapsing a lever on the left side hit the right side of her head’, the left-right explanation sounds stupid enough since the gun shot came from the left. He was then quick to name Al-Qaeda as the organization behind all this.

In utter shock I feel this is yet another ploy by the government to blame the ‘terrorist organizations’, No one dares to accept that this could easily have been the outcome of Mushrraf’s eight year rule where he plunges his people in utter confusion and chaos – it is the people of Pakistan that saw Musharraf orchestrate blood shed on the streets of Karachi on May 12th killing hundreds, people seem to have forgotten the hundreds ruthlessly murdered inside Lal Masjid and their bodies were quickly buried within a matter of hours as if to hide a crime scene. Lets not also forget the annihilation being done in Swat and the northern areas.
