Reference Against Pervaiz [pre-draft]

I share a pre-draft document prepared by the PPP to use as a reference against Pervaiz Musharraf, it was initially forwarded to me via an extremely trusted source to hold in confidence, but we very soon discovered that this same document had been uncovered elsewhere. The pre-draft of references that will most likely be filed against Pervaiz Musharraf are outlined in detail by Senator M. Enver Baig along with his comments, it is quite possible that some changed might take place before its final acceptance but we share only to give our readers an idea as to what basic issues will the PPP use to plan its attack against Pervaiz Musharraf.

Senator M. Enver Baig: Pervaiz & his colleagues keep saying that no body is above law. True, we agree. When references can be filed against the Chief Justice of Pakistan, certainly there should be a way to file the references against Pervaiz too! So far whosoever had tried to file these references, the courts were unable to consider these because instead of Pakistan’s constitution and law, the honorable courts are forced to follow Pervaizee Law which says that he is above the law and the constitution. Obviously this is NOT an acceptable position. We will like to file following references against Pervaiz for:

Musharraf – Saved By the CIA and Zardari?

The world is abuzz with news about the impending impeachment of General Musharraf . Pakistan’s ruling coalition goes around with broad smiles, oozing confidence about the outcome of their efforts. Even the vibes coming from Washington which has so often affected the fate of Pakistani governments seems to be supportive of their action. Should we expect to see Zardari as the next President of Pakistan in place of Musharraf any time soon?

First a brief review of the significant events as they developed. An American brokered deal led to the return of Benazir , things did not work out as she was assassinated. The PPP riding on a sympathy wave for Benazir was expected to sweep the elections, with Musharraf’s Party a close second, and MQM getting its fair share of seats from Sind .This would ensure that Musharraf’s crowd formed the ruling coalition.

Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, a controversial, mercurial, enigmatic, charismatic, politician who himself was killed by Pakistan Army and a American backed Dictator General Zia ul Haq; 30 Years after his death, continues to talk to Pakistan.

After prolonged deliberations, Pakistan’s major political parties which form the ruling collation has decided to move an impeachment motion against self styled ‘President’ and American backed dictator of Pakistan, this must not be a surprise that weak and undeceive political leadership which has faced media-trials, character assassination campaigns by agencies, prisons and exiles have gathered the courage to stand against powerful establishment and a dictator who still holds the power to dissolve the parliament, as, at a certain stage democratic government are unable to take the public pressure and take decisions to avoid the public hostility, despite the fact that these political parties are deteriorating and lack the visionary leader ship because of continuous military rules which survives on destruction of political institutions.

An open letter to Begum Pervez Musharraf and wives of army officers

Dear Begum Pervez Musharaff,

I recognize that every one of us is responsible for our own acts, as such, being the wife of a Military Dictator and a former General of Pakistan Army, I wound not hold you responsible for his acts, however I will request you to consider following facts on humanitarian grounds being a women and a mother yourself.

As you know very well, your husband General Pervez Musharraff belonged to a lower middle class family, with limited resources and opportunities, however this nation provided him an opportunity and he became the Chief of Army Staff of fourth strongest army in world, no doubt, it is a great honor for any one, especially an army of a third world Muslim country where a common Pakistani travelling in a public bus would offer his seat as a token of respect when he see a man in Army uniform, a conductor will refuse to charge him bus fair and a poor roadside restaurant owner would refuse to accept the payment for his meal, I have witnessed tears in eyes of soldier’s when they get this much love and respect from people of Pakistan.

It’s not difficult to understand the feelings of people towards our armed forces, the men in uniform are supposed to defend our borders, our women and children.

Missing Pakistani – Dr. Afia Siddiqui – Prisoner 650

A few days back the Asian Human Rights Commission issued an urgent press release about a Pakistani, Dr. Afia Siddiqui, who has been missing from Pakistan for over four years, since 2003. Her kidnapping has since then been denied by both American and Pakistani governments but actually she has been suspected of being an operative of Al-Qaeda and has been on FBI’s wanted list. There is reason to believe that she is also one of the missing persons who had been ‘handed over’ to the Americans courtesy of Pervaiz Musharraf. Let us not forget that the missing persons case was a turning point in the history of Pakistan where Pervaiz Musharraf had a severe falling out with the then CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry who was investigating this case and probably stepped on a few toes definitely ended up rumbling a few skeleton locked within Musharraf’s treasure chest of hidden secrets

Whatever is to become of the Movement for Justice

a letter to activists of the People’s Resistance by Dr. Awab Alvi

One issue which we all have dodged to question ourselves, is to decide what is acceptable when the powers-to-be talk about the ‘conditional’ restoration of the judiciary, either in the form of the much trumpeted 60-point constitutional package or separately.

For me, this movement (People’s Resistance) has been for the unconditional restoration of the Nov 3rd Judiciary (which also has included condemning the Martial Law & the restrictions on the media) When the powers-to-be talk about ‘middle ground’ compromises in the restoration of the Judiciary, it is sadly FAR from our own objectives. The irony is that we, in PR all seem to be preparing for a celebration the day Zardari restores the Judiciary in whatever way he thinks its best ‘for-him’. Is this ‘whatever-way-possible’ acceptable to PR. It sadly is not my wish, and I may venture to say that it might also echo the sentiments of other like-minded friends in this group

In my opinion the only reason to make a circus of the constitutional package is to show the judges that the powers-to-be have given them grace, and they should remain grateful to have received this gift-from-god. It is just another facade to the traditional appointment by the President / establishment which ensures that the buck stops at the supreme authority thereby ensuring the status quo. I hope we, in PR, are not fooling ourselves to believe that the ‘Zardari form’ of restoration comes without any strings attached. Had they been sincere then all this hoopla was not necessary and the legal way, via an executive order, was not too difficult to pull out of the bag. As opinion makers in this resistance we should be clear on our position, and be willing to call a spade, a spade and not worry otherwise.

The first Cultural Revolution in history of sub-continent was the Sufi movement, from the 13th century A.D. Sufism increasingly attracted the creative social and intellectual energies within the community and with the passage of time it acquired new dimensions and began to deal with the mundane aspects of life as well to free religious thought from the rigidity imposed by Mullah and to move away towards rural areas from the evil and debilitation effects of wealth, monarchy and bureaucracy concentrated in big cities.

The character of Sufi movement was such that if did not require official patronage or military protection and it also proved a serious challenge for both feudal and Mullahs however the movement was hijacked by converting the graves of Saints in to shrines, feudal patronized these shrines by donating lands to the caretakers and a new class of “Peers” emerged which was pro-establishment.

These peer’s who had actively helped British or had remained neutral now emerged and filled the vacuum of the empty places of nationalist Indians and as leaders of Muslim public opinion.

A welfare state is a government that provides for the welfare, or the well-being, of its citizens completely. Such a government is involved in citizens’ lives at every level. It provides for physical, material, and social needs rather than the people providing for their own.

The purpose of the welfare state is to create economic and social equality or to assure equitable standards of living for all, access to justice, freedom of faith, freedom of speech and transparency in decisions of executive.

The welfare state provides education, housing, sustenance, healthcare, pensions, unemployment insurance, sick leave or time off due to injury, supplemental income in some cases, and equal wages through price and wage controls.

It also provides for public transportation, childcare, social amenities such as public parks and libraries, as well as many other goods and services. Some of these items are paid for via government insurance programs while others are paid for by taxes.

The Ex-Servicemen and Bureaucrats & Their Consicence

Geo has been repeating that interview with retired gen. Kayani. Recently the ex-servicemen have been flexing their muscles. Troubling consciences are known to strike at men and women of good will at all times. Even ordinary mortals like you and me are troubled and stricken with conscience generated guilt and remorse at odd times.

But am intrigued with one odd phenomenon. All the recent public displays of conscience by the retired army personnels and bureaucrats have invariably been against the Musharraf administration.

Do you not find this odd? I mean, all these fine men are ex-servicemen (and bureaucrats) – “retired” after having “served” the nation – then they also served as parachuted civilian administrators in the higher echelons. I am sure they must have seen other wrongs and injustices perpetrated by the high and the mighty in the course of their “illustrious” careers. How come their conscience only bothers them about the Musharraf administration?

Or are they oblivious to the other ills of the society they lived in? How come they hold their peace and silence over other gave issues that we read about, that we discuss, that we notice everyday? Feudalism, karo-kari, watta-satta, petty jirgas handling out capital punishment, petty lords with armies and jails, the drug mafia, the parochial mafia, the vigilant arbitrariness, the suicide by mothers with their children, the collection of bhattas, pollution and increase in lung diseases, absence of schools and medical care in rural areas, their own “purchases” of plots of lands at throw away prices… this is a never ending list.

Why are the “ex-servicemen” conscience dumb stricken with other “issues”?

Explosive Shahid Masood Show exposes Musharraf

no mercy Go MusharrafIn the recent weeks Dr. Shahid Masood’s Meray Mutabiq Show has been very revealing, barely a week back Dr. Masood had pulled the cart out of the bag when he brought Steel Mills Ex-Chairman to expose the corruption of Shaukat Aziz, but today (June 2nd) he was able to pull yet another cat out of the bag bringing Lt. General (r) Jamshed Gulzar Kiyani the ex Core Commander of Rawalpindi the famous 111 Brigade, which has generally been the historic the stronghold of power in Pakistan.

The two hour casual discussion was far more revealing then ever imaginable where the ex-army man talks about issues regarding the Coop of 1999, Kargil issue, 9/11 events and the negotiations with the US, the missing persons issues, Lal Masjid incident where he confirmed the reports that the Army used Phosphorus Grenades on Children. Simply said the show was explosive and revealing.

Defeating the mind set

People of Pakistan are elated by coming nearer to the fall of General Pervez Musharraf and considering it a beginning of a new era where rule of law, constitutionalism and justice prevails. They consider this as an end of the status quo, dictatorship, and rule of establishment, however they are hardly aware of the fact that General Musharraf was just a pawn, a little piece of a big jig saw puzzle and the matrix of might is laughing aloud standing on the side disassociating themselves cleverly from the dying man and the dead regime. We are just proud of politically killing a sales man only by 18 Feb polls. People felt the same at the fall of founder of this matrix Gen. Ayub Khan, or Gen. Zia and now they are falling into a trap with the fall of Gen. Musharraf. Nation needs to defeat the mind set of a class which assumes a role to govern this 160 million people by might without any lawful civilian and constitutional authority and it secures dubious authenticity sometimes on the name of referendum and sometimes by the likes of Justice Munir, Irshad Hassan Khan and justice A H Dogar. Our short history is full of these names.

Open Letter to ‘Maj-Gen’ ‘Retd’ Rashid Quraishi – NAB Diaries

This is with reference to my application to my Local MP regarding assistance for justice and the subsequent communication between you and a representative of the British Parliament.

My case has been projected by the independent media on several platforms and the entire facts are also available under ‘The NAB Diaries’ at www.teeth.com.pk

The facts are that my Organisation which was the largest IT Group of companies in Pakistan was taken over by my partners namely the mutual fund managed by the serving pilots of PIA with the help of a corrupt General namely Munir Hafeez who was the Chairman NAB at the time. This was done through NAB which did not have any jurisdiction over the matter since public, government or bank funds were not involved. In short, Munir Hafeez used the NAB platform to indulge in corruption for his own benefit and that of his personal pilot friends who also caused their own pilot community to lose millions of dollars.
